Malatang is our new obsession. And we Love this place! We've been here three times in the past month, and I can almost guarantee you'll love it too. YGF Malatang offers an impressive assortment of ingredients, including beef, pork, chicken, fish, seafood, a variety of veggies, mushrooms, and tofu/bean curd. You start by piling up your bowl with your favorite ingredients, then weigh it on a scale. For the broth, you can choose between beef bone broth, tomato broth, or opt for their "dry" option with a spicy mix. While I haven't tried the spicy mix, we've thoroughly enjoyed both the tomato and beef bone broth. The soups are flavorful without being overly salty, which is a rare and delightful balance. And the sauce bar! Although it's not as extensive as Hai Di Lao's, it offers plenty of options to craft a mix that enhances your dish. If you're craving something meatier, their skewers are a must-try. With a floral, Sichuan-inspired flavor profile, they might not suit everyone's palate, but they're definitely worth sampling. What truly sets this place apart is the variety. It's the perfect cold-weather spot, especially if you're dining with friends or family who have different dietary preferences. Its compact size makes for a less overwhelming and more intimate experience. However, if you're coming with a larger party, be prepared to wait, as the space is small and fills up quickly. The service is decent--not outstanding, but nothing to complain about. Overall, we love the spicy, tangy flavors that YGF Malatang offers. Customization is what I value most in a dining experience, and the ability to choose my own ingredients and have them transformed into a delicious hot soup in minutes is peak customization. I highly recommend giving this place a try--it might just become your next food obsession.

This place is DELICIOUS! Price at $13.99/lb with a 1 lb minimum. However it is very easy to hit 1 lb since there is so many options to chose from! Only 2 soup bases: bone broth (which can have spice added to it) and tomato (no spicy option) and a dry spicy mix (like a stir fry I think) Their pork blood was by far the show stopper! I instantly regret not putting more after the first bite... it's one of those things where when you have had great pork blood dishes in China .. all silky and soft... 9.5/10 places always over cook and serve bad pork blood. But this place... AMAZING! Service is great! I can't wait to go back!

$14/lb for build ur own malatang!! (1lb minimum) ok i am a soup girlie thru and thru, we both got the tomato soup base and we picked different toppings. i wish i took a pic of the protein options, plenty of fish cakes, fish balls, and tofu, there was like 2 meat meat options beef and lamb thinly sliced as well. lots of veggie options, mushrooms + my favorite wood ear mushroom + king oyster mushroom. i am not big on veggies but i love kelp and mushrooms and fish balls!! i also added lotus root but it was so hard and not fully cooked thru but if it was pre cooked and then when they cook all your ingredients together it would be perfect!! it is hard to time having all the ingredients cooking together, but definitely be mindful of longer cook time for root veggies in here. i wish they had more protein variety like chicken, i also wish i could've added eggs to the tomato broth that would've been really yummy too. i appreciate that this place just has whole stalks of cilantro i love cilantro half my bowl is probably cilantro. there is a sauce bar as well with all your basics: hoisin, sesame oil, vinegar, soy sauce, salt, sugar, garlicoverall great experience, there are only 3 broth options: spicy, beef, tomato but i love the self serve build your own bowl, and it comes at a great price! im quite picky with my toppings and the only other time i get to eat everything i want is at home, but now i can be picky here!!

Think of this place like Mongolian bbq, but hot pot style. You get to pick the protein and veggies u want (1lb minimum) and put them in a big bowl, then the soup base or they also have a dry pot style, and they cook it in the back for you. While they're doing that you can prep our sauce at the sauce bar. They also have rice if you want to add that on or noodles that would be cooked together with your other ingredients. We got the beef broth medium spicy and it was delicious! it's nice to be able to choose exactly what you want in your dish. They also come around often to refill your water and see if you need anything. Will def be back to try the dry pot and skewers.

Me and my wife had dinner here, and we really liked the concept of the place. It's a self-serve hot pot/soup restaurant, and they charge $14 per pound of food (with a minimum of 1 pound). The prices are very reasonable in comparison to other soup places, and the fact that you get to build your own bowl means you're going to like every part of it. The broths they offer are also great, and after making your bowl, they cook and serve it in about 15 minutes! This is definitely going to become one of our regular spots!

I was skeptical at first since I don't like Szechuan spices typically but I think this may be my favorite hot pot place now. It's in the Sprouts plaza with a bunch of parking and seating inside.I like the concept of choosing your own ingredients then paying by weight. It's efficient and it just makes sense depending on how hungry you are. I get the medium beef bone broth and my partner for mild. Both are really good but have to warn people the medium is pretty spicy! The flavor is creamy and comforting. We pay on average around $20 per bowl depending on weight. You also get to make your own sauce which is nice but personally I don't need the sauce when I get the medium spice.

FAVE MALATANG SPOT! Such a comforting food and worth the price. I love the variety of options and the beef bone broth soup. Just wish they had a more diverse sauce bar.

I've heard so many good things about Malatang and I finally got to see what the hype is about. This establishment is really clean and friendly. The selections had everything that I usually get for hotpot. The soup base was very tasty. I'm not from the area but if I'm in the area again I will definitely return.

Mark my words, YGF will give places like Boiling Point/Hai Di Lao a run for their money! Malatang is basically a casual self service hot pot style concept where you pay by the weight of the ingredients and everything is served in an individual bowl. Their broth options may be limited but all hit the spot in terms of flavor. I personally tried both the original beef bone and tomato base and can't decide which one I like best. They have a great variety of protein options including some uncommon ones like (frog legs, beef tripe, braised pig intestines, braised beef tendon). It can be a bit over stimulating if it's your first time here because of the endless variety of ingredients. My bowl totaled to around $20 and I ended up taking half the portion home. The sauce bar was good for what it was. I like that it was unlimited and well kept. The sesame sauce can use more flavor or possibly sugar which is easily customizable. They had all the standard sauce option including garlic, green onions and cilantro.Ambiance wise, everything was clean, efficient and well stocked.Overall, this is such a fantastic option for those days where I'm craving hotpot without having to commit to a full on dining situation with other people.

I saw Malatang on instagram and decided to give it a try and it was as tasty as described and I will come back. We came during the dinner rush so it was a little wait, but the workers were quick to clear tables and get us seated! Inside is a little small and chilly! For our dinner we got the spicy beef bone broth which is very rich in flavor without the greasy oils. I got the medium spice, which I felt was accurate - although I generally eat on the spicier side. The ordering process was very simple, fill your bowl with whatever you'd like, and it is weighed at the end. Be careful because the weight can add up quickly! They have beef, lamb, lots of fish cakes for protein, various vegetables like mushrooms and green veggies. The beef skewer has a unique taste, hard to describe but is consistent with other beef skewers I've had in the past. Service was overall great. The kitchen cooks the meat separately and forgot to put it in my bowl. The server was quick to correct it and allowed me to get as much meat as I wanted and they would cook it for me on the house.
