2nd time ordering - 1st time eating at restaurant. Food was delish - tempura was excellent. Light, flakey batter and not greasy. Sushi (hamachi and salmon) was fresh and the salmon skin roll was also delicious. Restaurant got busy at around 530 - luckily we had reservations for 5. Restaurant is small although there is a small sitting area outside. Service was excellent- we were checked on several times and the servers were all friendly.Overall really great restaurant and we will return!

Been wanting to try this spot for a while now, but the hours are not ideal. Located in an unassuming area, behind a gas station. I was finally able to go right when dinner service started. It's a small, cozy, and dim space inside. You put your name down, if you didn't reserve a table. My son loves sushi and seafood in general, and he was excited to try out so many different options. Not the same boring rolls, like other spots. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and melted in your mouth. I even tried the house made strawberry sake. We had about 5 rolls and some sushi pieces. Servers are attentive and fast. I'll definitely be back!

I just recently ordered DoorDash from them.I'm never the one that really complains about the pricing unless it's ridiculous. However, from what I purchased today was ridiculous, I purchased:1 vegas rolls (very small quantity) $22.50Small cup of miso soup $3.504 small pieces of gyoza lol for $9.501 mushroom crab nuggets $10.50 Total was $50.05 Whatever OK, So for me, I really don't like to eat so much rice. So i noted for them for VERY less rice and just add eel and Sriracha sauce. After i got a message from DoorDash. I called them and asked what the additional charge was,So looks like they literally charged me extra for Sriracha thats IN THE PACKAGE - AGAIN THE PACKAGE!! and ONLY ONE PACKAGE. The lady said $1 for sriracha and $1 for eel sauce lolol. Sucks because this used to be my favorite place to go when I was in college and that was over 10 years ago.I guess inflation really hit them bad.

Our first time coming to Wafu and we were very impresses! The restaurant is super small and quaint but super busy. Shows alot about service and quality of food. We sat at the sushi bar and watched our chef work so hard the whole time, he never had time to breathe. We got a tempura soba which was super good, the broth was so healing. Because they are so busy and only have two chefs in the front working the fresh/raw sushi side does take a little bit longer BUT worth all the time you wait. Every nigiri we had was very well seasoned and didnt need any extra sauce. Each bite was so melty and delicious. The quality of the fish compared to the price was amazing! My favorite was the unagi and japan scallop. We loved our time here and will be back forsure.

Ah Wafu, we just love this place so much. We no longer live in SO CA, but anytime we are in town this place is a MUST! Coming home for a week we always make Wafu our first night dinner because we know it's the perfect way to kick off a little get away in the old stomping grounds. I love the cool little vibe, the service and most importantly the sushi. SO fresh. We stick mostly to nigiri, but tried the Hawaiian Roll (BIG yum), salmon skin hand roll and the cucumber salad as well this time. All amazing. Miso is also great and a little different with a ramen noodle vs tofu - a nice change.Price is very fair given the location, portion and quality of the fish. We loved it so much that we ate there 2x this trip and can't wait for the next time. We've been coming here for 20 years and have never, ever been disappointed. What a little gem!

Did not want to put this review up because I don't want this place to get too busy. The most amazing sushi I have EVER had! I unfortunately did not capture everything that we ate because I was on sushi cloud 9. We ordered the following -Garlic edamameSashimi mix - which had tuna, salmon and yellowtail The salmon was so incredibly amazing we ordered more salmon sashimi. It just melted in your mouth like butter. We also ordered more yellowtail sashimi - that was amazing also. Specialty Rolls -Hawaiian - albacore layered over a spicy tuna roll topped with scallion and mint leaf, layered with garlic ponzu sauce Booster roll - spicy chopped yellowtail roll layered with more yellow tail and topped with jalapeños We couldn't get over how amazing the salmon was that day, we tried the king salmon sushi, as well as the toro sushi. Both Incredible.Our server recommended the ocean trout sushi - also incredible. Finished with the best miso soup I have ever had. I am still dreaming about the entire experience. Great vibe, everyone was super lovely. Cannot stop dreaming about the whole experience. Making a reservation as I finish typing this.HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Quick, friendly, excellent quality! It's a small restaurant, and parking isn't spacious. The whole staff was attentive and friendly. I like that the menu is under a glass panel on our table. Their miso soup is the best I've had in a long time! I always eat at Japanese restaurants, and it's been awhile since I've tasted true miso flavor. This place makes it right! I really enjoyed the butterfly roll and the (mild) spicy garlic edamame -- so flavorful with a kick! The shrimp tempura was pretty juicy too. I'd come back to try other dishes, and I'd definitely get the miso soup and spicy garlic edamame again!
