As much as I hate to admit it, there's really no denying that SoCal hosts a better collection of poke joints than NorCal. I don't know if it's because of the sunny weather, the fierce competition, or just good fortune, but it feels like the poke bowls that I see my SoCal Yelp friends post photos of always look better than the ones I've had in the Bay Area. None serve as a more prominent example of this than Uroko Poke - after seeing so many photos of this place pop up in my feed, we made it a point to come here while in town so that I could strike them off my list of bookmarks! Now, between their lot's somewhat modest size and how a couple of spots are reserved for the business next door, parking has the potential to be a bit tough during Uroko's peak hours (the lot seems like it blends with the building next door, though, which would make it easier). However, it's well worth the effort once you find a space. At a glance, the menu looks like just about any other poke joint's, but with the addition of hot appetizers, like takoyaki, gyoza, fries, and miso soup, and sushi rolls/hand rolls. They also have some pre-set house combination bowls, which are great if you want something hot/cooked, but I already knew before we even stepped inside I was going to be grabbing one of their order forms to create my own poke bowl.-- LARGE POKE BOWL (Five Scoops) - Salmon (2x), Ahi Tuna, and Yellow Tail (2x) with their Uroko Original Sauce (Ponzu & Sesame Oil) and Wasabi Mayo, Crab Meat, Seaweed Salad, Avocado, Edamame, White Onions, Cucumbers, Wasabi, Green Onions, Ginger, Masago, Fried Onions, Garlic Chips, Furikake, and Tempura Crunch over White Rice and Seasonal Greens...$20If this sounds like a hefty poke, it's because it absolutely was! Love that they didn't skimp on anything, but, more significantly, so glad that everything in this tasted great. All three types of fish were fresh, flavorful, and complemented well by the sauces and there was a (relatively) generous amount of them, too!-- TAKOYAKI - Six Savory Octopus Balls Topped with Takoyaki Sauce, Mayonnaise, Furikake Seasoning, and Fish Flakes...$7.50While this certainly falls short of the best takoyaki I've had, this isn't that far off either. Each piece had a nice chunk of octopus in it and I liked that the dough wasn't super heavy, though the exterior was more soft than crispy. Also, I appreciated that these weren't doused with takoyaki sauce.Besides how deliciously good it tasted, the other thing that I loved about the poke bowls here is that, unlike most of the poke joints in the Bay Area, Uroko doesn't add an upcharge for ordering certain items. Not to give them ideas or anything, but I was genuinely surprised not to get dinged for choosing things like hamachi, crab meat, seaweed salad, or (gasp!) avocado. The one thing you will definitely have to pay more for, though, is if you want more bases (up to 3), sides (up to 6), proteins, or toppings (more than 1 scoop of Masago) than what they already allot you.Since I haven't been to many/any other poke joints in SoCal, I obviously can't speak to how Uroko Poke compares to other places around here. However, I'd be majorly impressed if there were any that were better. If nothing else, they easily clear anything and everything that I've had in the Bay Area. Sigh...what I wouldn't give to have this place in NorCal!

Traveling for work today and stopped by Uroko Cafe before hopping on the freeway. I was very glad we did because this meal hit the spot after skipping lunch. The cold case was neatly packed and looks like all the poke ingredients were fresh. Was very surprised to see eel as a protein selection for the poke. Of course, had to get it as one of my 2 protein options to try along with the raw tuna. I used broccoli and greens as the base. Uroko's fish was fresh and toppings and sides were equally fresh. The service was quick and friendly. The restaurant's ambiance was chill and attracts a lot of patrons.

Great poke spot! Lots of room to sit down, very different than most poke spots. They filled my bowl to the top! I got the medium but I should have opted for the small one bc I couldn't finish it all. All the toppings and fish were very fresh and there was no skimping out on any of it. My daughter loved her salmon poke bowl and like the tempura crunchies on top. This is a great spot for a group outing or even just a nice spot to sit down and enjoy some poke.

My relatives have been raving about Uroko Poke for so many times, they end up taking me out for a treat. This poke place has been one of the best I've had so far. This place is quite perfect for a rushed lunch, a quick meal, or even a chill dinner. The location is big with plenty of seats. There are long tables that you can join others, gotta love it. Service is also really quick and super friendly. Totally love how patient they are with those who are undecided.I got a mix of salmon, albacore, and yellowtail with variety of sauces and toppings. When I saw the bowl they used, I really thought they would load them with rice and veggies (I got half n half). But then they just kept being so generous with the fish, like "would you mind if I just add more for you?" My whole plate could easily feed 2-3 people (or 1 chubb me). This place also proves "quality over quanity" wrong as every item is fresh and high quality fish. They also have different rolls, handrolls, and appies to enjoy on the side. Everything in my plate was delicious I could barely finish them all.I love this place!! That's all. This will be my go-to poke spot from now on. Give Uroko a visit, now!!

I absolutely loved this poke place! Everything we had was super fresh, and the flavors were amazing. The only minor downside was the yellowtail, it looked a little off in color, so we decided to skip it. Additionally, the menu mentioned ahi tuna, but unfortunately, they didn't have any available, which was a bit disappointing. That being said, there were so many positives that made up for it! I really enjoyed the steamed broccoli served alongside the greens and rice, you get three base options to choose from, which adds a nice variety to your meal. The workers were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. They filled the bowls generously, so you're definitely getting your money's worth. The fish was incredibly fresh, and they offered a variety of sauces that complemented the meal perfectly. It was such a clean and well-maintained place, with a relaxed and chill atmosphere that made it enjoyable to dine in. The combination of excellent customer service, fresh ingredients, and great attention to detail made this a standout spot, and I'd happily return again!

Amazing poke for a great price. My friends and I came in on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy but still plenty of places to sit. The employees were really sweet in giving us time to decide what to get. I ended up getting a 2 scoop bowl with half rice and half salad and it was basically enough for two meals! I recommend doing to go because the portions are huge! I really loved the selection of toppings they had and the fish is really fresh and flavorful. Each of us also got a free miso soup with our meal after we noticed they had a sign advertising this! They also have a huge parking lot in the back which is a plus.

Dropped by during lunch (around 12:30 PM) on a Friday and it was pretty busy! Took us a little while to find a parking spot since the lot is fairly small. We waited in line for around 5 mins before ordering. For this poke spot, you go up to the counter and select the base, fish, toppings and sauces as you go along. We ended up getting the 3 scoop bowl (spicy salmon, tuna, and yellowtail) to split along with fries. All the proteins tasted fresh and had a nice texture. Overall I appreciate Uroko for the quality or their fish, generous portions, and transparent pricing (menu prices include tax). I highly recommend coming here for poke if you're in the area!

My favorite go to poke restaurant! I love the variety of toppings and pricing for each bowl. The spicy sauce gives you a real big heat. I usually get 3 scoops of tuna and salmon with chips. Avocado, crab meat and masago were free of charge unlike some other poke spots. Service was fast and efficient. Perfect spot if you want a quick lunch during your work hour.

Poke Bowl 9.85/10- this spot has seriously been my favorite for poke bowls for years! It's basically like the poke version of Chipotle but so much better - they're faster, way more generous with portions, and everything is super fresh. I love how you can mix and match bases so I got seasonal salad, broccoli, and brown rice. For proteins you get to choose three, so I went with spicy salmon, regular salmon, and yellowtail - they give you such huge portions of each and the fish is always so fresh. The best part is getting to choose 6 different sides, so I always go for crab meat, avocado, seaweed salad, spicy crab meat, edamame, and cucumber. Then I got all their toppings which added so much flavor: green onions, ginger, lime, fried onion, furikake seasoning, sesame seeds, tempura crunch, and masago. For sauces I got my usual combo - their uroko original sauce (which is ponzu based and so good), spicy miso, and spicy mayo. They're currently running a promo where you get free miso soup on the side which was amazing because the soup was super fresh and had great flavor! The portions here are absolutely massive - you could definitely split this into two meals which makes it such a great value.Instagram: @hungrytamale

One of my all time favorite poke places. It's so fast and easy to order a great poke bowl from here. It's a build your own type system with reasonable prices and a clean interior. Every time I come, the place is so busy and they even started offering boba.I've tried all the fish types from here minus the squid and they are all pretty good. My favorites would be yellowtail and ahi tuna. The uroko and ponzu are my go to sauces and you can't go wrong with any of the side dishes.Love this place and will always come back when I want a good portion of poke for a reasonable price.
