Fresh fish! Fresh dishes! One thing a lot of AYCE places miss is the quality. You can definitely get good quality dishes here. They've got a variety of specialty rolls, non-sushi dishes like katsu and udon, and appetizers too. There's something for everyone on the menu. It's definitely a hidden spot in Lakewood. Highly recommended if you're looking for AYCE sushi. And the price is reasonable too! Dishes come out in smaller portions during second round but that was preferred for us since we ordered a lot during our first round. When we got to the second, we just wanted a taste of different items. Order a good amount on your first round! Go hungry! Wish I had room for more. Will need to try next time. Also parking lot in the back has narrow spaces. Try to find street parking or the parking spots at the end.

I came with a party of 3 on Christmas Eve at around 3 PM and we got seated right away. I have been here a few times before when they just opened last year. I will say that their service definitely improved from the first few times I have been there when they first opened, they would forget our orders and miss a few items. To be fair though they were just newly opened and were probably training all their staff during this time. The servers are always friendly and the food comes out fast! The price is also unbeatable, they have a good variety of selections for their AYCE menu! For lunch we paid $28.99, it is definitely worth it considering other places will charge you 30+ for lunch. To be transparent the quality of fish is not the best compared to other sushi places, but that's expected with AYCE and their prices make up for that.Overall Umi is a restaurant I go back to when I am craving sushi, it's a great place to bring friends and eat. The service was good and the food satisfied me and my friends!

Hidden AYCE Sushi spot but enjoys the service and food!Your order by marking the paper menu and you get up to 3 rounds. The first round came out super fast and our waitress Briana was patient and provided whatever we needed (water refills, napkins, clearing plates, following up).Food was decent sushi and they put a large amount of rice.Pricing was good, under $40 for dinner per person and they have kid pricing as well.Bonus for restaurant offering military discount Appreciated that!

Excellent! Great selection of fresh sushi. Who doesn't like an all you can eat sushi bar. Enjoy the fresh selection of sushi and get sushi wasted. The red dragon is definitely my favorite. Service was attentive and friendly. Lots of space and can accommodate large parties. Found a new favorite spot to enjoy fresh sushi.

From melt-in-your-mouth salmon sashimi to perfectly balanced spicy tuna crunch rolls, every bite is fresh and flavorful at Umi AYCE Sushi. Some faves include the Shooting Star roll and the Aloha Roll. I also really enjoyed the tempura and nigiri too! Service is efficient, and plates come out fresh and quickly despite the AYCE setup. If you're in Lakewood and looking to satisfy a sushi craving or have a fun group outing, Umi is worth a visit!

5/5 experience! I came here for lunch on a Saturday and was seated right away, not too packed. Never got my servers name but he was very nice and very attentive, he even recommended I try the oyster and bluefin toro (which were very good!) shout out to you man, hopefully you read this and remember me, love you broAyce price was good considering how much I ordered! I tapped out at 2 rounds but I ate plenty. I liked the tempura hand roll, bluefin toro, and baked scallop. The presentation of each item was very nice, my table was very diverse with different dishes. The atmosphere was chill and the music they played was not too loud, I genuinely had a great experience. Refilled my water before I could even ask type of service LOL. Was very full at the end but I had room for the ice cream when I paid. Looking forward to returning & bringing friends and family here!

This is a must go if you love ayce sushi. When you enter you are greeted with a friendly staff. We never had to wait around to receive customer service. Our orders were always taken promptly, and water refilled without asking. Food was brought out promptly. The sushi quality was superb for ayce. I don't expect much when going to ayce but I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. There was a good fish to rice ratio. Mainly very little rice. The fish tasted very fresh. I loved everything they served. The restaurant ambiance was great. Set the mood for a date night or a night out with friends. My only issue was the parking lot behind the restaurant. The parking spaces were too small for my car. There were plenty of residential spots to park, so if you go, just park on the street.

My girlfriend and I are big sushi lovers and usually stick to our favorite spots, but she wanted to try this place, so we gave it a shot.Service & AtmosphereWe arrived on a Friday night around 8:45 PM and were seated immediately. The place didn't give sushi vibes. It was an old habichi place so some tables still had that set up. It was all most like an outdated spot that merged different business together. The staff was friendly, but our server kept emphasizing the leftover charge. I understand why they mention it, but she repeatedly told us not to order too much each round--even though it was just the two of us. It felt unnecessary and made us feel rushed. On top of that, she wasn't very attentive throughout our meal.Food Quality & ExperienceI started with the sashimi salad, which was disappointing. The fish tasted very fishy, and instead of mixed greens (which is common at most sushi spots), they used basic house salad lettuce, making the dish bland and unappetizing. I felt like stopping dinner there but I wanted to give their rolls a chance. For sushi, we ordered the Black Dragon Roll, Diablo Roll, and another roll with spicy tuna and albacore on top. We also got sushi pieces (yellowtail, salmon, and bluefin tuna) and carpaccio (yellowtail, albacore, and salmon), plus the peppered salmon.Carpaccio - It was just okay. The flavor and quality were average, but nothing memorable.Rolls - Underwhelming. The flavors were bland, and the sushi pieces were so flavorless that I started gagging while eating the eel in my roll; it was slimy, and they left the ends with the skin on, which was unpleasant.Peppered Salmon - My girlfriend liked it at first and ordered more, but the second round tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge too long--old and stale.Eel Sauce & Sriracha - Both tasted off, almost artificial.Imitation Crab - Even the crab tasted bad, which says a lot about the overall quality.Honestly, I wanted to stop eating after the first bites, but I didn't want to waste food and was trying to give this place a fair chance.Cleanliness & Freshness ConcernsToward the end of our meal, we noticed an employee preparing at least 20 wasabi and ginger plates, wrapping them in plastic wrap. This was odd because wasabi and ginger are easy to serve fresh with each new order. It made me question how much of their food was prepped far in advance instead of being served fresh. To make matters worse, I saw a sushi chef handling individual pieces of sushi with his bare hands--and not just lightly, but fully gripping them in his palm. I understand some traditional sushi places do this, but in California, I believe sushi chefs are required to wear gloves. AftermathMy girlfriend went home sick, and we both couldn't stop burping up the food. We felt so grossed out that we had to cut our date night short.Final VerdictFor $38 all-you-can-eat, this was absolutely not worth it. The food quality was low, the menu was limited, and overall, it just didn't compare to other sushi spots. If you want quality sushi, go to Aikan Sushi or Sake to Me for all you can eat, and Tokyo Garden for regular menu. For poke, Poke 2Grill is a much better option.Would not return..

Very good quality for AYCE! This is our go-to spot. They accidentally forgot a few pieces of sashimi we ordered, but they kindly gave us 2 pieces of the house special which was delicious! It was a white fish- very good quality. They are quick with the service and with bringing out the food. The ambiance is chill, it's a good size place so you can usually get a table and don't have to wait. Parking can be scarce since the parking lot is so small and shared, so we just park in the neighborhood behind it.
