It's very hard to find a tea house that does afternoon tea during the week, so I was happy to come here. It was my second time, but I was surprised to see that they had added new things to the menu. My 3 year old had a children's tea that included her own pot of tea, food, and a sundae. They had decaf tea options, but highlighted two that were more child friendly. My husband tried an iced Kyoto rose tea and our server was so knowledgeable about the correct way to prepare and pour it. I tried the lavender and it was great. The scones were a beautiful heart shape, the sandwiches were diverse and all tasted great, the fruit was perfect. The desserts weren't necessarily ones that I would've picked for an afternoon tea, but were all beautiful and tasted great. The tea room was beautiful and it's definitely worth it to sit outside while the weather is nice. We will be back again.

My family and I really enjoy our time at this Tea House. We've celebrated a few birthdays/anniversaries here and they rarely (if ever) disappointed us. They provide thorough service so expect the spend quality time there (it's not a rush in/rush out dining-type; which is part of its charm). The dining area is outside so be sure to dress appropriately. However, being in SoCal it's rarely an issue. More importantly, the ambiance is wonderful, quaint, serene, and generally cozy. But you 100% need a reservation as walk-ins are rarely (if at all) accepted. The tea selection is vast which makes it easy to try different types each time you're there. The food selection is a bit slimmer, but never impossible to find a meal that suits your taste/dietary restriction (for instance, I am a vegetarian and I've enjoyed several delicious meals).I will say, it is not the most inexpensive or affordable experience--aka, go in knowing/accepting the fact that you will spend a decent amount of money for what's included. I understand it as paying more for the whimsical surroundings, peaceful environment, and unique experience *rather than* a fine-dining Michelin Star restaurant. I definitely plan on returning in the future for more celebrations--it has become a place we go to treat ourselves and I recommend it to anyone else interested in doing the same.

The Tea House on Los Rios is a charming and well maintained historic home transformed into a delightful tea house!! The landscape is beautiful and adds charm to the home. As we arrived, we were promptly greeted with a smile. The staff was superb and very attentive. The decor inside was beautiful and well planned. They have a variety of foods, not only delicious little sandwiches and sweets.I took my friend to celebrate her birthday and Leslie did a great job by adding extra sweets, fruits, and a candle to my friends dessert plate. What a beautiful touch.I will definitely be back!

The Tea House on Los Rios is the BEST tea house in all of Orange County. It is in a historic district and in a historic home. It is just the cutest and they've focused a lot of attention to every little detail. From the tea cups, to the water glasses, everything will make you feel like you've been transported to a Victorian tea party. There are several options for type of tea party to enjoy, like the Royal Tea or the Mission Tea. Each one comes with a pot of tea, the option between a soup or salad, tea sandwiches, scone with jam and cream - and then some come with champagne or sparkling cider. In addition to their tea experiences, they also have a lunch menu, wines, cocktails and mocktails! They even have a section of the menu just for kids!It is a lot of food, so in the future, I think I would order 1 tea experience and do a split - which I believe is an extra $20. Our group of 4 people weren't able to finish all our teas and left with a lot of to-go boxes. Be prepared that it is very very busy on weekends and you will need to book far in advance. My only real negative is that they only have 2 single stall bathrooms, and after all that tea, the line can get long. Plus, the bathroom is near the kitchen, so it gets to be a tight area to wait. Overall, I highly recommend The Tea House on Los Rios! It is a great experience with beautiful decor, delicious food and tea! Plus, our server Emma killed it! She was busy, but treated us very well!

I am on the hunt to take my girlfriend out on the best high tea spots in OC, and the Tea House on Los Rios maybe tops the list. Everything from the service, ambience, location and food are all top notch, which makes for a great all encompasing experience if you're looking to go on a romantic date.I'll write about my experience and how best you can enjoy yourself! This experience took about 2 hours from when we were seated, and it progressivly got busier through the morning. It all begins with a reservation, because this place does fill up quite often, so plan to book a table at least a month in advance. With your reservation secured, all that's left is to head out on your reservation date. The restaurant is located a short walk away from one of the parking lots. Do note that there are two free lots near the Los Rios train station, but they fill up quite quickly. There is an additional paid lot for the marketplace, but they charge $2 for every hour. Its a quick 5 minute walk from wherever you park, located past the station. Its a really nice walk under the shade of the trees with the antique shops adoring the sides. Once we arrived at our reservation slot, we were promtply seated in the garden area. There are different tiers of high tea available, so you can choose based on your preference. We went for the $55 option, which includes a pot of tea, a scone with spread, soup, a choice of champaigne, sparkling cider or mimosa, finger sandwhiches, salad, and dessert. It was really a lot of food by the end, so don't worry about leaving hungry. I really loved this experience because the atmosphere really provides the perfect backdrop for enojoying tea and the slow pace lets you digest and enjoy your food. My girlfriend really enjoyed this, so I think this spot is a home run if you're looking for a great high tea experience.

My daughter had been here with her friends and she thought we should go together. A very pretty, quaint location with both indoor and outdoor seating. They offer several tea packages including a Valentine's Day theme running thru February. We both chose the Victorian menu that also came with a choice of a flavored mimosa - I had the pomegranate. You get a choice of tea flavors too. I'm honestly not used to having so much food at a tea, as we got a huge scone, soup AND salad and a good assortment of sandwiches. Dessert too, of course. Noelle took very good care of us. I would definitely recommend this place and hope to come back!

This is an adorable venue. So quaint and accommodating. The staff was friendly and helpful, the decor simply adorable setting an elegant mood. We were there for a bridal shower. The room and table setting was perfect and the food was delicious - champagne or apple cider first, then a salad, two teas, and then multiple small sandwiches all served per person, and finally a dessert tray. Beautiful and delicious.

Just a cute charming place for a delightful tea time. Took me a month to make reservation since my out of town friends came for visit so I took them here to enjoy the old heart of San Juan Capistrano. It's a must checkout place among the street and a perfect place to take a break w/ a delightful cup of tea and finger sandwiches. Friendly and helpful staff, the foods are just aok could be better, but they have sparkling and liquor so it's all good.

We experienced slow service. This may have been because there was not enough staff as our original server had to leave due to a family emergency. We waited at least one hour in between the first served tray and the second. We added a 1 year old to the reservation and they wanted to charge an extra fee of $27.00. That was not charged after asking it not to be charged. Our teas remained cold the whole meal. I had to ask for more hot water. The food was so-so and for the price I expected better. Parking was difficult to find of course during the holidays.
