The Halal Guys

As someone who lived in NYC when the cart was at its prime, truthfully the food here isn't the same, but it's a solid place with a variety of options and customizations in your platter or gyro. They always include the white sauce and hot sauce, which is great for a spice fiend like myself. I love that they also have a rotating special meat sometimes where you can get hot chicken or special flavor lamb. I usually stick to a salad (no rice) with gyro meat and salad. Always a solid choice.

I love the Halal Guys, but the employees run the show here. My story goes like this: I have a class in the area that ends at 9:00 p.m. Once a week, I arrive at this establishment and venture inside at 8:55 p.m. to 9:05 p.m. on a regular basis. The place looks closed down. The employees are all cleaning and putting things away. They have their ovens turned off, their pans have been emptied, and the only food they have is being warmed on a grill in the back. Often they are out of items like onions. Well, go cut some in the back? Isn't that your job? You would think the place closes at 9:00 p.m, and I should be relieved to get any food at all before they lock the door? That is false. The Halal Guys in the District is open until 10:00 p.m. This is not fair to thosewho arrive at or after 9:00 p.m. When I worked at restaurants, we never started to clean up until the restaurant closes. The Halal Guys should not start to close stuff down and clean up until 10:00 p.m. when they close. They have compromised the quality of their food to leave earlier than they should. They should offer hot and fresh food until they close at 10:00 p.m. I feel ripped off when I arrive at 9:00 pm No other place is like this. Please, put your customer experience and quality as a higher priority than leaving early.

I had pretty high expectations for this place because I know how good they are in NYC. But our recent visit was nothing special. The food seems fresh and made to order. I had the beef gyro sandwich and my wife had the chicken and beef rice bowl. Both servings were filling and tasty. The chicken in the rice bowl was a little dry. But the other items made up for it.The restaurant is on the small side and can be difficult to find a table for four. The service of the food preparers were kind and helpful.Hoping to visit another location just to see if this was an anomaly.

Everything here is so good and flavorful. Even the classic hummus is super delicious. You choose from chicken, beef and falafel as your protein, then if you want a bowl, or wrap. The regular size bowl is only a dollar more than the small, so it just makes the most sense to get that one. You definitely get the most bang for your buck that way. And don't forget the baklava!

The Halal Guys is an enjoyable meal. The regular platter is large so the small is better for lunch. Their fries are yummy, crisp, crunchy and flavorful. You can add different veggies to your platter. Service is friendly and quick. The restaurant space is small inside with a few seats outside. They are usually busy during the lunch hour. I used to visit weekly when I worked nearby.

Love halal guys, I always want to get it when I'm up here. My go to is the combo plate of chicken and gyro with extra white sauce. It comes with rice lettuce tomato and pita (hummus is extra). I'll even buy a white sauce packet and get one red sauce packet. As their red sauce is super spicy, so I suggest u put a little at a time. My husband doesn't even use a full packet. There's an app u can download and order ahead of time and collect points to earn rewards. I think the app also has special offers. There's a fountain drink station also. Limited seating inside and out. Free parking lot right out front.

I had the original halal guys at a cart in NYC, and waited years before trying it here for some reason. This is a great spot for a large meal at a fair price. I got a large bowl with chicken and everything on it. The white sauce is so tasty! you can ask for sauce on the side as well or their red (hot) sauce. While they have different options, I go for the chicken. The rice is so yummy and all the toppings are great. Portions are large. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I would return here again!

60 locations across the country and maybe 6 or 7 in So. Cal. Decent middle eastern grub served as a sandwich or a plate. You really can't go wrong with they have a decent lunch special at a good price. I had a gyro sandwich and, while it did not blow me out the water, it was good. So much better than fast food burgers.

Quick and filling meal with nice flavors in my regular sized combo platter. I selected Beef gyro and chicken shawarma with everything on it. I love their white sauce and their very spicy hot sauce! It is delicious! Combo 4/5- I felt like the meat wasn't as hot as I would like, and may have been sitting in the heating tray for too long. Flavors were still good though. If you are lucky enough to get it fresh, it's completely different. Fries 5/5- I've ordered fries here in the past and this time is still as perfect as I remembered. These fries are fried to order so they come out hot and crispy. Flavor is better than any other fast food or restaurant. Service was friendly.

Great customer service, clean, guilt-free food. Whenever I go I typically grab a platter. I keep my options open to whatever looks best when I walk in.
