Teriyaki Express

While in the Whittier area, I was hungry and wanted a good chicken bowl. I read the reviews and this place seemed promising, However, it was just ok. I ordered the chicken veggie bowl with the sauce on the side. The meat was lukewarm, kinda dry and some pieces were a little tough to chew. The rice was soft but very boring. The vegetables were good other than that nothing to brag about. Decent prices for the food they serve. It's old inside and very small. The place needs a few upgrades. The service was good and they were accommodating.

I ordered the combo plate with the default chicken and steak. It came with rice under the meat, and the two smaller slots had iceberg lettuce salad, which came with an oil/salt/vinegar dressing. The steak was a little salty and chewy for my liking, and I felt the chicken was a little dry/over charred. It wasn't particular good, but it wasn't bad either. It was a quick fix meal.

This place is value central. I ordered the teriyaki chicken plate with double meat and it was about $12-13. This easily lasted two complete meals. They are so generous with the meats :) The salad on the side complemented the meal well as it added a light crunch to the meaty, saucy goodness. The rice was good as well-- chewy and not dry at all. This place is perfect for a quick lunch bite between work hours, their service is efficient and great, and parking is not an issue. They posted a sign up saying they will have to increase prices soon because the cost of food is increasing a lot too. Understandable and I am willing to continue supporting this small family business.

Decent little mom and pop lunch spot here in SFS. Their chicken or beef udon is a deal at $8.95. Give em a try!

Bomb teriyaki chicken and steak bowls are fire. Extra teriyaki will cost extra. Fast fresh and friendly.

Place is great with generous portions. If you call ahead they will always have your order ready and fresh. Highly recommended! I go here every Friday for lunch.

My husband and I are new to this area, so we decided to try out this place for lunch. We were greeted by the owners who were really friendly. We both ordered the bento (chicken for me and beef/chicken for my husband). We were so shocked at the quantity AND the quality of the food here. The chicken was tender and my husband's beef was delicious. The bento comes with so much variety, & is worth the price. You get your choice of meat, rice, salad, 4 california rolls (really hefty pieces), miso soup, and a variety of tempura. My husband and I really enjoyed the tempura...it stayed crispy and tasted delicious. We'll definitely be back to try more items!

Ordered the bento box, steak teriyaki. $14The steak has a lot of fat in it. Teriyaki sauce was ok. The tempura tasted old and it was chewy. California rolls tasted oldMiso soup tasted like water, no flavor. Ended up throwing more than half away. First and last time here.

Yummy food! I never have to wait for more than 10 minutes for my order. The lady at the register always greets me with a beautiful smile and she's really nice! 10/10 favorite place for quick lunch (:
