Extremely friendly service with a wide selection of great Hawaiian style food. This is a casual dining experience. Order at the window and pick up your food in take away containers. Spam musubi: freshly made. The nori was still crispy and there was a very generous portion of rice. I loved the furikake on the sides of the musubi instead of inside. I'm going make mine like this forever now. Teriyaki trio; flavorful and generous portion of grilled beef, pork and chicken. The plate lunch comes with a small amount of cabbage as edible decoration, rice with garnish, Mac salad. Mac salad was very tasty, but this is a contentious topic. My friend thinks L&L Mac salad is king. I prefer Tasty Hawaiian. The other plate lunches come with these sides as well. Apparently you can ask for grilled veg instead of rice or Mac salad. Next time! Chicken adobo- very tender with good flavor but I like mine to have a tiny bit more vinegar bite Kalbi. One of our favorite meats. This one was grilled nicely but wasn't as marinated as the teriyaki trio. Lechón with pancit. They must roast the pig off site. I can't see how they could do a whole suckling pig in that tiny kitchen. This was the star of the show. The pancit was probably the best flavor I've ever had. THe lechón was crispy and crunchy and not greasy. I'm still thinking about it a week later and it's making my mouth water. This is why I'm a failed vegetarian. I felt the prices are very fair for the quantity of freshly made food. They had a lot of employees, probably 5-6, hustling behind the counter. With minimum wages hovering at $20+/hour...well just do the math. If you don't like paying $15-20 for a lunch made by real humans, don't vote for higher wages.

Food is below average. No teriyaki sauce given, the beef was super overcooked and dry, texture was similar to beef jerky The galbi was ok. Service was definitely mid. Sticking to l&l/ono

Likes:+ Yummy, plenty Hawaiian food.+ One order is enough for two meals.+ Situated in Mess Hall, a nice food court.Non-likes:- Though the food was decently yummy, I've had notably better at other Hawaiian restaurants. The cashier didn't look too friendly or happy to be there.I had:$18.99 Teri combo (beef & pork, 1 rice 2 mac)

This restaurant is by far the best Hawaiian food I've had in OC. Keahi helped me order for catering and she was extremely patient, kind, and accommodating to my budet. Thank you so much Keahi, our CEO, VP, COO were very impressed with the taste and quality of your food. This is definitely not the last time we will be ordering from Tasty Hawaiian BBQ

Closest thing to Zippys with better seasoning and portions of meat I've found. While not exactly a plate lunch as it's not traditionally in the styrofoam it closely represents zippys with higher quality when compared to fare back home. U gotta navigate yourself here since it's in a food hall in a corporate park but free parking helps. Everything is reasonably priced and they have a wide selection especially with their garlic chicken and Portuguese sausage which is hard to find at most places. Solid place that I don't mind returning to just wish they had more locations in oc but I get it.

Located inside a Tustin Food Hall. Indoor/Outdoor seating. There are also ping pong tables outside and a bar inside so definitely a cool and fun place to hang out with friends.Tried the Garlic Chicken Plate and Poke Bowl (Spicy Tuna) lunch special. I appreciated that they let me substitute the rice and mac salad for all vegetables. Food was pretty good. My only issue was that there was too much sauce on the garlic chicken.Free 90 minute parking but I believe restaurants will validate if you stay over.

Good traditional Hawaiian food! The Teri chicken and Teri beef was perfect, shrimp was crispy. The rice was a little mushy but overall so so good. The woman who took our order was very kind! It's in a food hall and there was free parking across the lot.

This is definitely one of the better spots in Mess Food hall. Although, I haven't found many gems in the food hall. I've had the loco moco lunch combo and the beef bone in kalbi. The portions are quite generous, which I appreciate. The loco moco could use a bit more seasoning but it's decent. The beef bone in kalbi is too salty for me. I've eaten lots of galbi and most of them are more savory that salty. I did enjoy the galbi more than the loco moco though. I will not be getting any of these dishes again but I'm willing to try another dish!

I recently visited Tasty Hawaiian BBQ which is located in a more modern food court. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. The restaurant promises authentic Hawaiian BBQ and local food, but the quality and execution were lacking. The spam musubi, usually a favorite of mine, was disappointingly dry and seemed to lack the juiciness and sauce that typically make this dish a delight. Additionally, the beef in the Teri Trio was tough and chewy, and I was actually unable to eat it. The chicken and pork were decent but nothing special. Portion sizes were another area where Tasty Hawaiian BBQ did not live up to expectations. For the price paid, the servings were smaller than anticipated, which was disappointing considering the typical Hawaiian bbq experience where you feel like there's always leftovers. Overall, I was hoping for a lot more from Tasty Hawaiian BBQ. The meal did not provide the value or the tasty, satisfying experience I was craving from Hawaiian-inspired cuisine. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be returning. The cashier was very friendly though.

I got the Teri dual with chicken and pork. It wasn't so good. Meat was burnt so everything was covered with carbon pieces. Can they clean the grill better?! I end up not finishing my plate. For $20 its definitely not something I'll order again.
