Taste of the Pacific

Taste of the Pacific is a Filipino style bbq and shrimp food restaurant. It's located in West Covina. They have a straight forward menu. Their Chicken BBQ x noodle combo tastes great; food portions were abundant which in my humble opinion could feed two adult humans. Staff were affable and professional. And surprisingly recognized me and complimented my grey Mustang on the parking lot. Okay, back to the review. Food was soft, flavorful and delightful. Prices seem economically fair. One thing they don't offer was drinks. Overall, I enjoyed the order experience and food. I recommend this spot.

Tried this Filipino spot a couple of times, and while the food itself is solid, there are too many drawbacks that keep it from being a go-to place for me.First off, the prices are a bit steep for what you get. The flavors are definitely there--savory, rich, and authentic--but the portions don't always justify the cost. The biggest issue, though, is the inconsistency. The menu seems to change all the time, and they often run out of beef before 2 PM, which is frustrating if you're craving something specific. Sometimes the wait is way too long, and other times, they randomly close during hours they're supposed to be open.Service is okay, but not particularly attentive--you'll get what you need, but don't expect much beyond that. The one redeeming factor is the ambience. Since it's inside a food hall, it has a nice, casual vibe.Overall, I'd come back once in a while, but this won't be part of my regular food rotation. If they could improve consistency and availability, it would be a much better experience.

The owner and his or her staff should be more responsible. Why I say this is because the they were supposedly open at 11:30 am on weekends but they didn't start taking orders till almost 12:30. You can see the staff working but they don't acknowledge thier customers. It's really odd, and the staff is emotionless and they don't even communicate amongst each other. No sense of time and they move extremely slow. Like they all smoke from the same bowl of whatever before thier shift. To add to that they don't have a set menu and it's just a dry erase board of thier menu that they write on 5 minutes before they started taking orders. While every restaurant there has a display of ther menu ready to read. Just some advice to the owner: do not hire friends or friends of friends.Now for the food , I had the garlic shrimp and its the best I've ever had.the beef with the garlic noodles are delicious. But that's it. The whole experience is non existent, if that place didn't have supporting ambience of Havens other restaurants, it would've felt like the eerie feeling of the walking dead serving you. Very odd but delicious restaurant . Have to go with a 3 due to the late opening time and odd emotionless service... Edit: I went through more reviews of this place and a lot of people have similar experiences or even worse than me lol. I probably won't be going to this place anymore until they have an actual efficient system in place. Amboy will be opening there soon and I hope they have the same type of irresponsibly as this place.

I had such high hopes for this place. I had seen this place recommend by a lot of food reviewers that I follow, but I was very disappointed. The trio is what I had come for but their menu had only had chicken and shrimp with various combinations. When I had asked if they have beef, they said they were out, which is also very odd since it was barely 1 pm at the time. After reading other reviews, it seems like this lack of a set menu seems pretty consistent. They also had no sides other than rice and noodles (I've seen people post lumpia and mac salad) which was also very disappointing. It just seems like from an operations stand point, they aren't doing well. I also noticed that the workers seemed pretty distant and bored. And when asked about when to expect items to come back on the menu, they kind of just shrugged and insinuated that it is what it is and this is all we have to offer today. I kind of wish Taste of the Pacific will get their act together because I love Filipino bbq want to see places like this thrive. But right now it's not looking great.

Was walking around to see what food to try and saw this long line to order food here. First thing that popped into my mind was that this must be very popular. So I got in line to try out their food. I love Fillipino foods, so this was perfect.After about almost 20 minutes waiting in line, finally got to the counter to order. I ordered the Smackin' Shrimp Noodles with Garlic Butter Sauce. It came with 6 pieces of shrimp on a bed of noodles.It was so good! The shrimp was soft and flavorful. The noodle was very tasty with the right amount of garlic butter.I would definitely come back here again to try their other items.

A couple dear friends of mine and I were at Haven City Market West Covina (HCM WC) celebrating my birthday. They treated me lunch. Thank you my friends.Taste of the Pacific was one of the places we tried. We ordered the Smacking Shrimp Noodle. The shrimps were lightly battered and well seasoned. Lots of yellow noodles. It was so very good! Portion was good size. I would order this again.Staff was okay. Restaurant front is not that big. Dining space is shared with all the other food vendors. They open around noon time. Try to get here a little early to be the first ones in line because there will be a line. Trust me on this one. They get super busy. It's probably one of the busiest food vendor at HCM WC. Their menu is not very big, but I'll be back to try their other food items.

I started seeing reviews for them on Yelp before the grand opening. So I decided to stop by after work on October 31st to pick up dinner for the family.Got there a little after 5PM and they were closed. So I waited until the grand opening of Haven City....The food is good and you get a lot of it - the price reflects that for each plate. I ordered 3 of the "Smackin Chicken Plate" - but I really wanted to try the Trio.Unfortunately they had no beef (seems like an issue for some time based on a couple of reviews). The chicken had a nice char on it almost like it was just off the bbq grill. For the shrimp i got the butter garlic sauce and it was a little bit rich for me. I may have to pick another sauce next time.There were a lot of shrimp and they are good sized. Justified for the price. Will give it another try, and hope that they have a full menu (beef and Mac salad).

Despite the bad reviews, I think the food and service was great! Its in the new Haven City Plaza and it had plenty of seats and parking outside. It is a nice place to vibe with friends. TLDR: Food was really good and filling but kinda really heavy. We waited only 10 mins total. FOOD:Full BBQ Plate Chicken and Shrimp (Garlic Butter) (4/5): I think the flavors were very balanced with the heaviness of the shrimp and the sauciness of the chicken. It was a little heavy but the flavors meshed well together. The rice was perfect and overall very filling. SERVICE:(5/5) I think the service was great. No problems at all - the food came out in 10 mins, the cashier was very nice, and there was not a long line (we went on a Saturday around 2pm).

This popular food stall is located along the back wall of Haven City. The stall often has a long line waiting to order and waiting for their food. The menu isn't extensive so you know that their specialty is that good. The dishes I've tried were delicious and packed with flavor. However, the food is not for the health conscious because of the amount of butter and salt they use. Smackin' Shrimp Noodles w/ garlic butter ($18) - This plate has 6 pieces of large shrimp on a huge bed of garlic butter noodles. The dish is packed with umami and the noodles leave a pool of butter at the bottom of the container. Smackin' Chicken Plate w/ garlic butter ($25) - The chicken was perfectly grilled and infused with the smoky BBQ flavor. The dish also comes with 6 pieces of large shrimp. We only had this with extra rice because they were out of mac salad.Each time I've been here, the wait for my dish was anywhere between 25-40 minutes. I recommend placing your order here first and then venturing to other stalls.

Visited the location at Haven City Market and decided to give this place a try. I ordered the Smackin' Chicken Plate ($25) which comes with 6 pieces of fried shrimp and some bbq chicken, and 3 scoops of rice. The good: The food is really tasty. The shrimp is large, battered and fried and comes coated in a sauce of your choice - I picked the Smackin' sauce. Chicken was tender and had a nice smoky flavor.The bad: The wait - I waited almost 30 minutes for my food. This was the first thing I placed an order for and the last thing that i picked up. I can't figure out why they are so slow!The prices - really expensive for what I got. My husband was appalled when I told him how much I spent on the chicken plate.If you're rolling in dough and have a lot of time to wait, you will enjoy the food here.
