The ramen portions are big. The servers were friendly and very attentive. The place has a chill vibe. I liked the sashimi and the King Kong. The King Kong was discounted when I went. They have discounted menu which was a nice surprise.

This was our go-to sushi restaurant for years and the food and staff are great. However, it has changed owners for the 2nd time since we moved to the area and the prices have gone way up (another reviews mentioned the same). I know prices have all gone up, but I feel like I can get a better value elsewhere.

I just missed closing time at Jimmies poke and wanted to give Tampopo sushi a try after seeing their yelp reviews. It's less than a mile from my house so it's super convenient. The sushi chef prepared my order quickly and I was out the door about 5 minutes after I placed my order.I ordered a Hawaiian roll and a spicy tuna roll and took my food home to eat. Mixed the wasabi with some soy sauce and dug in. The wasabi was real, not the paste that some sushi restaurants try to pass off, and a generous helping so kudos there. I tried the Hawaiian roll first with an extra dab of wasabi on top of the tuna strip. Unfortunately I was not very impressed. The tuna was slightly rubbery and had some light fishy odor. It didn't taste bad but the smell and texture were not great. I moved on to the spicy tuna roll and it was definitely better. I alternated between the two rolls and finished with the spicy tuna roll. It was the clear winner between the two. Still I wasn't very impressed with the spicy tuna either. Again, neither roll was bad, but they weren't good either. Mediocre is probably the appropriate term. I think that if the tuna had better texture and less odor I would have considered going back but at this point I have been there, eaten it, and will not return.

First time here and I was very satisfied! Compared to other sushi restaurants in the OC it's great! If you are in the area I highly recommend it.I met my friend here for lunch and she is a regular. The owners welcomed her with a free sushi taco sample bite, which was very tasty!We ordered the Rainbow Roll and a baked scallops roll. Both were very good but I will definitely be ordering the rainbow roll again. The baked scallops were not as baked as I've had at other sushi restaurants but they still tasted great.I would be happy to dine here again if I am ever in the area!

This is a long overdue review, as we've been ordering from here for a very long time! We love the sushi here, it's sort of become our go to =) Our usual order is the Crunch roll, the Super Salmon roll, and the spicy edamame. Their service is great too!

Not horrible , but not great. I've been coming here for 10+ years through the ownership changes. Right now , they are the most expensive sushi place in the area but the quality does not reflect the price. I ordered a multitude of things recently and a couple slices of fish were a let down , including the bluefin - which was stringy with connective tissue. My wife likes this place but won't be back between prices and inconsistent quality

Went to this place for dinner, but got a little disappointed. They put that sweet sauce on almost every sushi dishes and some of them didn't go well with it...and the texture of the tuna sushi was one of the worst I had, very tough and chewy...Service was good and attentive and food came fast since we were the only table there when we first go there.
