Super Pollo

So, you're looking for something a little different that's still South of the border...Look no further than Super Pollo in Costa Mesa! This spot has been here since 1984, and it's not a surprise why! Mexican rotisserie chicken? If you've never had this stuff, you better come by and get some! It may seem mundane, but, we promise you, this chicken will change your life! They have a huge menu, but the thing that Brandon and I get the most often is just their regular old chicken combo. If you're feeling hungry, get the half chicken combo. We just got the quarter combo today, but it comes with beans, rice, salsa, and your choice of flour or corn tortillas. We took it to-go to a local beach overlook, and the hot chicken and cool weather really hit the spot! It's finger food, so don't be afraid to get a lil messy!You get your choice of seasonings; Of course we had to go with the garlic, lemon, and butter. It's almost mandatory. The combination of these flavors are S-tier! Savory, acidic, and rich, all in one! The chicken is always juicy, succulent, and overall so satisfying. And let's not forget the beans and rice. The rice is pretty great, but the star of the sides has to absolutely be the BEANS! I never took myself for a bean guy, but after this restaurant, I bean missin' out! I've been coming here for a while now, and yet, it never disappoints! I don't come here often enough! Let the aroma entice you, and don't be afraid to take a bite, dude!

We have not been back to Super Pollo for quite some time, but thought we'd give it a try.I called in an order for half a chicken and went to pick it up when I got it back home, I noticed that the chicken was super dry as if it had been under a warming tray for quite some time. I am sure they already knew that but figured it was take out and not complain. They asked me when I ordered it if I wanted the garlic and lemon seasoning and remember that was always so good. This time we couldn't even taste ANY seasoning. We were again so disappointed. Also when I looked them up on their website through Yelp, the price was totally different when I got in the store to pick it up. It was actually over a dollar more.For what we paid at Super Pollo for 1/2 a chicken, I can get a whole chicken at El Pollo Loco. It's a shame they let their quality go down. Needless to say, we won't return.

Very fast service and really good authentic Mexican food! I found this location by surprise and when visiting a Walgreens and I'm really happy to have gone here. I ordered the Super Carne Asada burrito for $14 and it was sooo good. It comes with hot sauce and is moderate in size. I would love to come back. There's seating outside and with shade, but I strongly feel it would be good for to go/pick up orders just due to parking. Check out the most menu photos attached (:

This place I have been coming from 30 years. Quality has gone down a little, and prices have gone up drastically. Overall good experience, service was excellent!

The food was delicious, the garlic butter was superb on the chicken. The taquitos were fresh and crunchy, the rice and beans were nice too. Service was fine. You just place your order and they call your name and you pick it up. There is only outdoor seating. Ambiance is sitting in a small alleyway. A lot of people coming in and out for take out. The chicken was tender and delicious, so if I lived closer I would eat here all the time.

Wow! Super Pollo made me fall in love with chicken again! During a recent Orange County visit, I found myself getting over a cold and needed some comfort food to take to my hotel room down the street. I stumbled into Super Pollo by chance, only after seeing their super cute outdoor seating area with umbrella covered tables, patio lighting, and lush green palms potted throughout the seating area. Even though I was eating in, I still love a little ambiance even if only while waiting for my food. The chicken is flame broiled while you wait, and comes with several flavor options; garlic butter and lemon, seasoned, and spicy. I chose the garlic butter and lemon, and let me just say that flavor combo packs a punch! The chicken was tender, juicy and flavorful, and requires a handful of napkins to maintain decorum. Super Pollo is a small, hole-in-the-wall restauraunt, and I could see it easily getting overlooked in favor of other more flashy Costa Mesa and Newport Beach options. But I was really impressed with the flavor and the exceptional value found here. Do me a favor and check this place out! The staff are friendly, the food is great, and they've got a really cute patio area to enjoy your food. There's no valet, or super convenient parking aside from a limited number of spots in front, but you'll figure something out. Just remind yourself of the delicious chicken awaiting you, and you'll find a spot eventually.

so good and moist! my party got 3 of the 1/4 chicken plates with corn tortillas and then the super chicken burrito and both were so good. I'd recommend this place, also good vibes

I was craving Mexican style rotisserie chicken and checked out this spot on Yelp! Ordered the half chicken combo and asada nachos. Both were delicious and satisfied all my cravings. Flavors were insane and chicken was so juicy. Good amount of food for two people. Will definitely be coming back!

Charging $13.44 for the most basic bacon breakfast burrito I've had where you can hardly see or taste the bacon and the rest is a little egg and filler is crazy. You also need to update your prices on your website too, which said the burrito was $11.59.

Returned to this awesome chicken restaurant after 10 years and it's still buttery and full of garlicky goodness as I remembered. The extra parking seem to have been converted to outdoor seating but other than that...the owners are still working there and the food is still yummy and quite affordable for the Costa Mesa area. It's lively and full of music from the kitchen area. Always busy and still very good.
