I visited The Source for the first time while on a trip to see friends who live in SoCal. It's an interesting mall that has a lot of Korean shops and restaurants, Sopoong is one of the ones that was located indoors in a food court section of one of the mall buildings.Since the omelet rice was one of the dishes they confirmed they could make vegetarian (I believe it was just by removing the meat they normally put in it, which I assume would've been Spam or something similar). The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. It was a bit pricey at $18.32 when including tax and tip, but portion is fairly large. I found it to be just okay and somewhat underwhelming in flavor, so I wish they had done more to have more flavorful vegetarian options on the menu to begin with. Also, they used styrofoam for takeout containers which unfortunately isn't environmentally friendly.

Hm, $17 for fried rice with no chicken. Rice is too moist and is drenched in sesame oil. Trying to give each of these stalls a shot at the OC source food hall, but this one's going to have to be a hard pass. If this is any representation of their standard, they probably won't be around long.

Ordered a cream pasta for $19. Was tasty and included ham and mushrooms in the dish. The portion size was a lot (could feed 3-4) and I recommend eating with a fork since it'll splash everywhere if you are not careful with chopsticks.

This is in regards to the customer service. I came here today to eat with my 2 year old and 3 year old, but we actually have been to this vendor many times, they have all the basics in one spot. I purchased two plates of food to split some with my kids and myself, chicken fried rice and the cream rice cakes. When I went to pick up my plate I asked if I could please get two small extra bowls because I had toddlers who I was giving a bit to, and I got an eye-roll about it which was rude. After that I checked the plates (it was all chopsticks, which my kids are too young to use still) so I asked if I could also get 3 spoons. I got attitude again and was told she was only allowed to give me two spoons, that this was a direct order from theManager. Seriously? I said, I told you I had small kids, are you serious about this? Yes, only one spoon per order. Ok listen I get being nasty to me if im a table of 4 adult friends and we are splitting one order of rice cakes or something... but I bought two plates of food for myself and 2 toddlers which is very fair. Is this really necessary behavior??

There seems to be quite a few mixed reviews for this place so my deduction is that it all depends on what you get. My go-to is the cheese donkatsu which is absolutely perfect in every imaginable way (in my opinion). There is no shortage of cheese in this dish and it even comes with 3 different kinds of dipping sauces. I'm not sure what they were, but there was a mild one (light colored in photo), slightly sweet one (brown in photo), and a spicy one (red in photo). The spicy sauce was my favorite. The dish also comes with a side of some kind of curried rice, slaws, and soup. The donkatsu itself is crispy in the best way, and the meat is thin enough that you can bite into it and it won't be chunky or too hard to take a bite from it. Price isn't bad either, about $13 and I definitely was not able to finish this on my own. This place is located inside of The Source's Food Source (second floor I believe). Parking is usually plentiful and you'll find it when you walk past Main St. (pho restaurant). Give it a try, especially if you're a donkatsu/tonkatsu fan!

Very rude and poor customer service.I ordered dishes and ask for 2 forks for 3 years and 8 years old children. But they were giving me a bad look and saying they can't give 2 forks. So I ask them if I can buy fork and they we're giving me a attitude and handing me another fork. I don't understand how they are doing business like this and I'm seeing and hearing lots of bad reviews about them. Definitely not recommend SOPOONG if you don't wanna ruin your day. there is so many other great foods in same food court.
