Ruben's Bakery

Sadly, I didn't take any pictures for this bakery. But what I can tell you is that this is the best Panaderia I've ever purchased bread from. You have to go early in the morning to get the best selection, but even by the afternoon there's still a good selection of bread to pick from and it's still delicious, and tastes so good! My favorite thing from this bakery is actually the vanilla marble cake. It comes in a long slab with a layer of fudgy icing and chocolate chips on top and when I tell you, it's the bees knees oh my goodness. It's a moist vanilla cake swirl with a brownie batter like swirl. It's just the slightest bit crisp on the bottom and ends but still fudgy dense and moist. That light layer of chocolate icing and the chocolate chips...really sets it off! Even just thinking about it while I write this review, I feel like getting in the car and driving over there for a slice! up . The service was OK it's a small bakery with one person behind the counter so you're being served as you would in a homely setting, not in a commercial establishment.In my opinion it just makes the food taste that much better! I willingly drive past all the panaderias in my path just to go to Ruben's Bakery! So worth it!

Mission: purchase 2 dozen mini-Conchas Opened up the pan dulce display case and proceeded to gently press the concha. It wasn't as soft as desired but the lady attendant advised they were fresh. I did not want to purchase from this batch because our gathering was in a few hours. I then spotted a rolling rack with a fresh batch of Conchas in the back kitchen. I asked the lady if I can select from that batch and she denied me. She advised this batch was for tomorrow. Does this mean their bread isn't made fresh daily?As a consumer, I should be able to purchase your best offerings.I guess she has no interest in trying to gain a customer or keep one. What a shame because I had previously purchased bolillo from them and they were good.Ended up just buying one of those Mexican cookies so I wouldn't walk out empty handed. To top it off, I was also disappointed with the cookie.

Nice quaint shop. They're always super friendly and happy you came in. The bread is such a variety. From sweet to savory. Also cafe de olla. Cakes are made here also as well as gelatin. The bread stays fresh for a few days. That's what I love about it, it doesn't get hard fast. Even tho there's not much time to have any leftovers.

I feel bad posting this review, but I feel I have to. I ordered a cake for my daughter and it was huge. I didn't order such a big cake. We didn't even get a box and when we asked for one we were told they didn't have any. Lol wtf I thought this was a bakery. Seriously, I'm still laughing because the cake was so big, like a 2 tier wedding cake but it was supposed to be a 10". When I went in, There was no one at the front so I had to go knock where everyone was working in the kitchen. The cake didn't taste very good and the cream coloring smelled like Home Depot paint. Lol oh my good was this place was all bad. I'm glad it didn't cost much because it was just all bad. The cream paint stained by hands for a while. I feel bad about this review because the lady was very nice in getting this cake ready in a matter of 24 hours.

Local Panaderia, Mexican bakery with classic Mexican sweet breads, cakes, and desserts. You walk in and racks of fresh baked Concha and Bolio waiting for you to grab them. The air is filled with that distinct baked goods smell but with cinnamon mixed in making it identifiable as Mexican even with your eyes closed.They have a unique drink here called a Champurrado. It's a very thick Mexican hot-chocolate made with cinnamon, cloves, star anise, and Mexican chocolate. Worth trying as its a pretty hard to find drink and has cool historical origins, in my romanticized imagination this is a drink that fills ancient Aztec and Maya with warmth and fire before a big battle or traditional ritual.Pan Dulces: Concha had that nice crispy cookie-like top layer, it was fresh and not old, crispy layer stays stuck on and doesn't collapse off after one bite. I saw the bolio mentioned in a review, its like a plain mexican french-bread. Interesting dipped in the champurrado and I made a ham, egg, cheese mini sandwich at home with it and it was pretty good.If you are not a Spanish speaker a lot of the food is self-serve. If you are looking for anything in particular its easy to just show an image on your phone or type it out in Spanish and they can help you. Easier payment process if you just bring cash.

It's been a few years since I've been back. There is nothing too much to update, but it is still a bit stale . People are unattentive, and the location still seems to be in disarray. Beyond that, bread is good quality.

When you can find the bread you are looking for they are delicious. Cash only. cashier friendly and quick to pack and charge. Place smells good when bread is baking. Parking tight.

The lady was SUPER DISRESPECTFUL and RACIST. She was talking bad about us in Spanish assuming we didn't speak Spanish and after we confronted her she charged us extra for the bread. We bought 4 pieces of bread and it came out to 6 dollars.

Best bolillos !!! Especially the one with cream cheese and jalapeños great costumer service highly recommend this panadería!!

Great bakery! Service is amazing, and the baked goods are delicious! I try to go every time I have some extra cash. Can't wait to go back. The ChocoFlan is superb!
