ROL Hand Roll Bar by Kei Concepts

ROL is one of my favorite restaurants in OC of all time. Of the KEI Concepts establishments I've tried, ROL has been consistently delicious and satisfying after every visit - the quality of the fish and presentation are truly in a league of their own in my opinion. My favorite dishes are the Kaisendon bowl at lunch time, as well as their hand rolls of course. The unagi roll and scallop roll are particular stand outs to me. I highly recommend ROL to any hand roll or Japanese food enthusiast out there!

Although this place is known for their hand rolls, I got the Kaisen don bowl and really enjoyed it! The kaisen don bowl is part of their lunch specials. The fish was very fresh and high quality and they give you a lot. I think for the price point, it's a great deal for $19. Midway through the bowl, you also get lemon zest and broth added. The broth is very umami and flavorful and the lemon zest compliments it really well. It was fun getting the broth mid meal because it makes the bowl feel like two different meals in one. The interior has a nice modern feel, you can sit at the bar or grab a spot at a table. Service was really great and food came out quickly.

Loved this restaurant! From the drinks to the food to the amazing service. Brien was our server and was amazing. He gave great suggestions and was very attentive and friendly. Food we tried: unagi Don, crispy rice, spicy edamame, variety of handrolls. Everything was delicious! Drink: tried the velvet sour and it was the perfect balance. Not overly sweet but just enough. Will be back and highly recommend. Tip: join waitlist on yelp if coming in the evening time when they experience higher wait times.

I do think the food and service is very good. They make ur hand rolls as u order, and I highly recommend the A5 Wagyu, blue crab, and the albacore roll. We also enjoyed the furikake fries in between bites and the crispy rice tartare. Highly recommend as well. We also like the princess violet and the oni drink.The place is overall very small, they have one big bar to surround and then just a couple tables around the restaurant that can barely accommodate 2-6 people maybe. I will say tho the rolls are very pricey and I left kind of still hungry, it's per roll so just know it goes from $6 to like as high as $29 for a premium roll....yea $29 for one hand roll. The experience is fun, just overall very expensive. It is good quality tho, and a cute date night and the staff was very good!

Great concept, great cozy atmosphere tight space, great service, great foods, great drinks....just not great for the prices. Don't get me wrong, for me it just abit high for the rolls...but I did ordered a lot here and had tried other locations. All are fantastic, I would give a five but my wallet is disagreed with me so, high 4 for sure.

ROL is one of the premier hand roll spots in all of OC and beyond! This spot is located in a plaza with a decent amount of parking spots with an additional back parking garage by the UFC gym with more spots as well. Reservations are highly recommended here but you can always opt to put your name down on the waitlist as well. I stopped by for dinner around 6pm with some homies and the wait was about 15-20 minutes. Inside, they have a gorgeous modern interior with some more dimly lit lighting, bar seating, and about 7-8 other tables for seating. For their menu, they have standard sets, hand rolls, appetizers, inari, donburi bowls, and more. I opted for the 6 set of hand rolls which consisted of Salmon, Spicy Tuna Crunch, Scallop, Yellowtail, Albacore, and Toro. In addition, I also got a side of the Yuzu Kosho sauce. Overall, everything I had was delicious and made fresh to order. It is recommended to eat the hand rolls within 10-15 seconds of it being served to you to maximize its freshness and flavor. All of the staff here are very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. There is a reason why this spot has over 1,000+ positive reviews!

My boyfriend and I had the most incredible experience at ROL for our Valentine's dinner. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was romantic, intimate, and absolutely perfect for a special night out. The dim lighting, elegant decor, and soft music set the mood beautifully.What truly stood out was the above and beyond service. My boyfriend wasn't feeling well when we arrived, and the host immediately noticed and brought him water without us even asking. That small gesture meant so much and showed how much they truly care about their guests.We opted for the 5-course set menu, and every single dish was phenomenal. The scallop was a standout - perfectly seared, buttery, and packed with flavor. Each course was beautifully plated, well-balanced, and left us completely satisfied but not overly full.ROL is an absolute must for a romantic night out, whether it's Valentine's Day or just a special date night. The combination of incredible food, impeccable service, and dreamy ambiance made this an unforgettable experience
