Recess

Stopped by on Saturday, 01/25/25 to grab some drinks!Got 2 happy hour cocktails (Not the Frozen Paloma) which were $10 each - yummy. Then got 2 Oaxacan Sunrise cocktails.Then got 2 shots of Mezcal Tequila. Overall a great environment to be in. There was a small outdoor rock band concert. Located in downtown Santa Ana.

Recess has become a new regular spot for me as I'm a recent regular (aka moved into the area beginning of December). While my 2 complaints are going to sound beyond petty Lacie will know exactly what they are!1. Closed Mondays (everything is closed on Mondays around here) 2. I am an avid wine drinker and while they are owned by the best wine restaurant in the area in 2 months they have not had a singleBottle.... (Cough cough :) I'll be knocking on the doors to request even an aged bottle :).All in all this really is an amazing spot. Lacie has always welcomed me with open arms as I was a regular and recommended cocktails since they did not have wine. I know intentionally go out of my way to see if she is working just to find out recommendations on a new book or a great show to watch. FYI this is in 4th street market do not expect to sit and lounge for hours unless you are walking and own or lease a spot in the area. It is nothing like playground or dentionThis is truly the definition of an adult recess. drink and have fun

We didn't expect to 1) come across this little bar within the 4th Street Market, and 2) that it would be such a fine bar, at that! Sure, it's small and simple in style, but the stirred cocktails were well prepared replete with big, CLEAR, and stamped ice cubes (it's those little details that elevate an experience)! The bartenders (both visits, to date) were fabulously friendly, welcoming, helpful, and attentive! Fun find!

We ordered Frozen Apple Ciders ($14 each) at Recess while having dinner in the 4th Street Market. The drinks tasted AMAZING, but were so unexpectedly cold compared to other "frozen" style drinks I've had before that everyone in my party made their mouths numb on the first sip! We ended up having to wait for them to melt to comfortably drink them, but the flavor stayed.Service was quick and easy. You can take your drink anywhere within the indoor market from what I saw!

Went to this bar 1 month ago, and I probably won't go back. I approached the bartender. She was a Caucasian lady. I know what beer I like to drink, so I asked if she had any Lagers. She then said, " sorry, we don't carry Mexican beer." I am Mexican, but I did not even ask or mention that I wanted a Mexican beer. All I simply asked for was a lager. After that, I didn't even get a beer of how bothered I was with that comment.

Fun, unique cocktails! A few good beer choices, too. Great first stop when dining at 4th Street Market.

I dropped by 4th Street Marketplace w/ a friend before dinner in DTSA. Recess is more or less a full bar.Regarding the ambiance, its a stainless steel long bar w/ TVs. The peeps were chill and there is food nearby.Jennifer was super nice. She had recently been to Vietnam where my friend is lives. They exchanged numbers and a hug. The world has become so international, its easy to stay in touch around the world.I would have no problem returning to Recess and have a beer and snack. I'll just make sure I don't go to Mar for the shitty poke.

2 stars because pre made drinks.. Yes pre made cocktails. I, ordered Call me by your name and the gentleman gets a glass with ice and pours the drink from the machine (pictures below) are u freaking kidding me. $12 dlls for a pre made drink poured from the machine. I asked what was the deal and they mentioned the drink was already pre made. I think they are called cocktails because you make them right on the spot. Anyways 2 stars no bueno.

If I could I would give this spot zero Stars!! After a long day in the hospitality industry, you just want to get off and enjoy an after work drink! The bartender here was awful and didn't acknowledge us no friendly smile.. was hiding behind her Bass pro shop hat!! Please ,management team do better!!!

My girlfriend, and I went out for a little little bite to eat and a beverage, and the bartender at this particular bar on Thursday at 730 in this food extravaganza was so rude and uninviting that we lost our appetite and she lost our business forever. It's sad because we loved the vibe. We won't be back until she's gone
