Awesome food and a family restaurant. The building houses both Rafael's Kitchen & Mad Coffee. The Short Rib Sandwich was delicious, being very tender and nice arugula flavor on top. Their seasonal Shrimp Risotto was also a must try! Had a slight citrus tang and the amount of rice and shrimp was well priced.Chicken Pesto sandwich tasted great as well, Pastrami sandwich was a bit overcooked and hard to chew, but had good flavor overall. Would recommend checking out and experiencing the nice ambiance and food!

"Monday at lunch and Rafael's Kitchen was hopping busy, which was nice to see, so it must be good," I thought to myself. You can get lemon in your water if you ask for it - nice. You can get avocado toast for lunch, no problem. It was delicious with arugula, grape tomatoes, and a splash of balsamic vinegar and olive oil. You can get it with an optional egg, but I wasn't having the egg that day.Seating outside on the patio in the winter California sun was nice, too.Their menu is varied enough that everyone had ordered something different.

This place is combined with Madd Coffee. And like I said in the Madd Coffee review this place is fantastic. The crew hustles and the servers are on top of their game! I've been here 4 times to study with classmates and we've stayed there for roughly 2 hours each visit. This place is busy so get there early, my suggestion. I like the corner table where the outlet is as I can connect my laptop. The music is very selective and it's not loud. Food: Hands down great. Breakfast wrap and burrito's have been my calling. Have fun ordering!

I used to reserve 5 star ratings for really extraordinary restaurants that offered unique dishes and experiences, but I've come to realize that great experiences can come from anywhere.Rafael's Kitchen offers a nice assortment of common American and Latin American breakfast items from omelettes to French toast, fried chicken and waffles, avocado toast, steak and eggs, chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, various burritos, many pastries, and so on.When we walked to our table, we noticed the food that had been served and everything looked great. We opted for the avocado toast with cherry tomatoes, arugula, chipotle aioli, and 2 eggs made to order. It was one of the best avocado toasts we've had and was quite filling. They offer a wide assortment of coffee including many specialty coffees as well as smoothies, teas, and OJ. We opted for the Americano and it was perfect. The staff was super friendly and the service from Nina was outstanding.Coming here was a breeze using Yelp to place our reservation. And they offer validated parking in the lot across the street.

Cute little coffee/breakfast spot. I got a vanilla latte with a croissant. The latte was very good and my daughter killed the croissant. She also got chicken and waffles. The chicken was very good but def had a spice to it. The waffle and syrup was very underwhelming. I got the breakfast burrito which was also just okay. But the service was great.

I visited Mad cafe a few months ago and when I did I saw they have Rafael's so I had to come back just to try the food, and so glad I did. The only drawback about Rafael's is the parking situation. Although there is plenty of complimentary parking areas all around, the restaurant itself doesn't have it's own parking area. There is a parking structure behind the restaurant and a parking lot across the way. I loved the coffee I ordered at Mad so it was a must to order it again. My churro latte was delicious - the cinnamon milky combination was magical! My short rib sandwich was amazing - meat was super tender, topped with cheese, it was a perfect combination!Service was great - good vibes, great attitude! I'll be visiting again!

After shopping around and hitting a hunger strike, I discovered this lovely breakfast and brunch cafe with outdoor seating. The setting was perfect for a relaxing meal, and the menu offered a great selection of fresh, delicious options. The food was flavorful and well-prepared, and the service was friendly and efficient. This spot is ideal for a cozy breakfast or a leisurely brunch--highly recommend! Last but not least 10/10 for amazing service by John!

Walking in your at the coffee bar. We sit inside and my goodness the music is obnoxiously loud and the songs a big no go for breakfast. You could feel the bass. Sorry but in the morning not good! Not good at all. We asked if they could lower it and the server who was dynamite took the words right out of our mouths. He agreed. It went low for 10 seconds then right back up. The server said the back kitchen wouldn't have it. Ther server was a real gentleman handling himself like a fine dining establishment. Very kind but we went outside where music was way lower. The food was very delicious. A different server took over and my goodness they all are so nice there. Note the management....get the back kitchen some earbuds.

I can't believe it took me so long to try this spot, but I'm so glad I finally did! Not only is the place dog-friendly (they even have a doggy menu!), but the service was also fantastic. Our server was incredibly helpful, offering great recommendations for every category on the menu.We decided to try the carnitas omelette and the short rib sandwich, and both were outstanding. The meats were tender and packed with flavor. The verde sauce on the carnitas omelette was a perfect match for the meat, adding just the right amount of heat. Even the pieces of bread that came with the omelette was delicious. As someone who doesn't usually go for sandwiches, I was blown away by the short rib sandwich. At first, I was worried the bread might be too hard, but it was surprisingly soft and light--absolutely delicious! The sandwich had a generous amount of protein, and the caramelized onion and horseradish brought so much flavor. I highly recommend both the short rib sandwich and the carnitas omelette. The only thing that fell short for me were the smoothies. We tried the açaí berry smoothie and the skinny monkey smoothie. The açaí smoothie wasn't as refreshing as I'd hoped, and the skinny monkey smoothie tasted overwhelmingly like peanut butter without any of the fruity flavors coming through. I have had their coffees before and I'll probably be getting that instead, they have a good selection of specialty lattes.Overall, a fantastic experience, and I can't wait to come back to try other things on their menu. This is a great spot if you want to be seated outdoors because it's located in a quieter street so you can still enjoy your meal without a bunch of noise.
