When I think of a bowl of really good traditional pho, I think of Pho 79. It really doesn't get any better than this place. This is a no frill, quick and easy place to get pho. You will not find modern aesthetic here.I've been to many pho restaurants over the years and even though I like a lot of places, Pho 79 is my favorite. They make their pho very well. It always comes out piping hot with the perfect taste in my opinion. The ingredients amount is spot on and they are not stingy with their basil when you ask for more.Price is good - it is cheaper than most places. Service is on point and they are efficient at taking orders and getting the food out to you.Their vermicelli bowl with grilled pork and egg rolls is a must try if you want something else other than pho. This place is busy pretty much all day except early mornings. Parking is limited too.

I've heard for a while that this was one of the best, if not the best, pho spot in OC (which is saying a lot). I finally got a chance to try it and came around 6:30pm on a Friday night, which apparently was the perfect time as we waited barely 5-10 minutes and by the time we left around 7:30 there as a long line out front! For being as famous as it is, it's still a very low-key, traditional spot that's cash only and ran by your Viet aunties and uncles (which is how you know it'll be good). Service was good, everyone was kind and helpful and got us what we needed. Everything came out SO FAST, almost minutes after we'd just ordered, and the food was so fresh and piping hot. I ordered egg rolls and also the Pho đặc biệt with a side of meatballs and oxtails, oh and vinegar onions. It was truly one of the best pho I've ever had and instantly takes me back to eating pho in Vietnam. The prices were incredibly reasonable (like barely $50 total for 2 people), especially for the portion size, and I took home leftovers that was a full sized meals in itself! Will definitely be back here for my next pho craving.

This place is, by far, the best pho place in town. It is possibly even the best pho place in the state of California. I've been here several times and their food is always consistent and good. I get the pho 79 special with the oxtail and it always hits the spot. There's a dedicated parking lot in the back and parking is free however it can get busy during lunch hours. This place is cash only so be prepared to pay in cash. When there is a long line, you put your name on a piece of paper and that is the waitlist. The line goes by relatively fast. This is a family friendly place. People bring their family and kids. I've also seen people bring dates as well.

Date of visit: 1/26/2025 and many many times priorMy family's favorite pho spot. Because I don't consume beef, I usually just order chicken pho here. The chicken pho comes with chicken broth, unlike other places that sell chicken pho, but with beef broth. My husband ordered Pho Tai (the largest size) plus meatball. The broth was rich and flavorful, while the thinly sliced beef is of good quality and therefore resulting in super tender slices in the soup. The broth itself is very rich and flavorful. If you haven't been, go try it coz you're missing out!

Still one of the best pho spots. Broth is so so good and consistent every time but the young servers were a bit rude and had an attitude throughout which was unnecessary. The crispy chicken and ox tail side alone would make this worth the trip. So so good

Review 4/365Dine in experience 1.06.25Finally updating my review for dine in.Came here a few times to dine in.1st Pho noodles of 2025.Came with my dad on a Monday lunch around 1 p.m.There was only 2 people in line before us on waiting list. About 5 mins wait. What we Ordered~ # 32 is a Pho Dac Biet with everything. My go to. Fully protein in the bowls along w the broth is delicious. Not salty and perfect seasoned. ~ # 33 is the same as # 32 but large size price. ~ # 107 Crispy Chicken w Garlic dipping sauce is one of their popular dish. My hubby and oldest son loves this. The fried chicken has a hint of garlic taste. Comes w a side salad. Definitely recommended. ~ Fresg young coconut juice is refreshing and yum. They do charge for sliced up onions $ .25 a serving FYI. I didn't realize this. Service is fast but it might be a bit hard to flag someone down. Restaurant is big with a lot of tables. Like any traditional Vietnamese restaurant. FYI CASH ONLY. You go up to the register and pay. Parking is a bit hard and limited w small parking space. CLOSED FOR THE LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION. WEDNESDAY JAN 29 - FEBRUARY 11th

Be careful of other cars as you're entering and exiting the parking lot. It's busy even at non-peak times and I can see why. Their pho is arguably one of the best ones in OC. It is reasonably priced still despite receiving awards. A small size pho is about $12-13 which is just enough for me. Personally it wasn't my favorite broth, not because it wasn't good, but I prefer the broth somewhere else. It's personal preference. Quick service.

Pho 79 was the first restaurant I wanted to try as soon as I arrived in Little Saigon, thanks to all the positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was underwhelming. The broth lacked flavor and was far too mild for my liking. I also wanted to add oxtail to my pho, but they were sold out, which was disappointing. To top it off, the small order of egg rolls for $9.25 is much pricier than other spots I've been to.We arrived early, and there was already a long line, but the service was very impersonal--just taking the order and payment, without much effort for anything else. For the price and the hype, I expected much more. With so many pho options in the area, I wouldn't go back when there are better spots to choose from.

I visited this establishment as i was in the area and wanted some Pho and Thit Nuong. I phoned in the order and it was ready in 15 minutes. The coffee was strong, not too sweet which is good. The Pho broth was flavorful and rich, felt the noodles could have been a little softer, decent amount of meat in there. The Thit Nuong was solid, the eggrolls were smaller than i would have liked but the pork flavor was solid. Overall i enjoyed the food but this place is CASH ONLY, there is a sign before you enter.
