I'm really digging the nostalgic coffee shops and this one is a delight. It felt like stepping back in time to when I was a kid, thoroughly enjoying the rare treat of going out to eat. Comfortable, clean coffee shop decor. Friendly servers chatting it up with the locals, welcoming to newcomers, and never letting your coffee get below half filled. I was there for the breakfast and Appfel's coffee. Expansive menu includes all the diner classics as well as some healthier vegetarian options. Daily specials too. I had the waffle special which is the classic thin round waffle, served with whipped butter and warm maple syrup. Also ordered a zucchini frittata to go and that was yummy. Great place to meet friends and catch up over a meal. Easy parking too. Best classic diner in OC!

Randomly found this place while shopping around the area. What a cute and classic place. We went for breakfast early and the customer service was awesome. Food was good for the price. Loved the cozy classic feeling of the restaurant and kept pretty clean.

Pepper Shaker is the best kind of diner: expansive menu, homey decor, super friendly staff. I had a pre-Christmas meet up here and it couldn't have been more perfect. I ordered the huevos revueltos con chorizo ($14.10) which are scrambled eggs with chorizo. The Mexican breakfasts come with beans covered with cheese, homemade salsa, and your choice of flour or corn tortillas. I made little breakfast burrito bites and they were delicious. The chorizo wasn't overly greasy and had a nice little kick. I also loved the beany beans which had whole pieces of beans rather than the mashed up refried beans texture. These were simple, flavorful, and really good on their own. I also had bites of the country fried steak ($15.25) (So crispy! So good!) and the Benedict a la mexicana ($15.25) (So interesting!). All the aforementioned were giving what they needed to give. I'd love to come back to try their lunch and dinner options because who can resist a homemade meatloaf?? I certainly can't. Service was on point - our coffee cups were always topped and the wait staff was so damn friendly. I'd come back to Pepper Shaker in a heartbeat. Catch me eating one of their weekly specials.

Grabbed a quick Sunday brunch with the lady I'm dating. I had French toast, bacon, and eggs. My date ordered chicken fried steak, eggs, hashbrowns, and pancakes. Everything was good, the service was quick and efficient including refills for my drink when it dropped below halfway down the glass. Ambiance is a mixture of diner and fast casual restaurant. Prices were reasonable and the noise level was low. I'll be back for additional visits in the future.

Wow..we walked in greeted right away made to feel welcome like if we were regulars . 1st time here happend to be in the area , but we will be coming back . Joanne and sharon were sweet and amazing everyone we came in contact with made us feel comfortable . Joanne took the time to help us decide what we should order by sharing how some of the dishes are made. Did you know all the burgers are made with fresh ground sirloin? Beef for the machaca made fresh here on sight..The turkey is made from fresh on sight and sliced here. I had the Baja burger with onion rings . I added a side salad with thousand island dressing. My husband has the bacon burger with fries and side salad with thousand island dressing. We both ordered dessert apple pie ala mode and chocolate cake . Both were delicious . Desserts shipped in but they were so good .Honestly , we are coming back, food , compnay , price all good . It was so nice to experience this friendly welcoming environment . Joanne and Sharon, everyone seemed to have love for their regulars and how they served . Just a diamond in the rough. No matter what, that makes food even more excellente! I told my husband can I just stay here for a few more minutes I feel so comfy . Overall my experience for lunch at a local cafe was the best support our local community business! My buddy and I went for breakfast at the Pepper Shaker this morning. We were greeted by Nancy with a good morning and seated us immediately..We both ordered chili cheese omelette with home fries with biscuits and gravy..our food came out really fast.. it's so delicious and the fresh salsa is very good..My buddy and I will definitely be back !!!
