Pepper Lunch

We got the classic beef pepper plate and the curry steak and hamburg. There's 2 sizes on the beef pepper plate, classic or double. Double means double meat. I figured classic was going to be enough plus I added an extra egg. It wasn't enough. Go for the double, if you can. The curry plate was just enough for my other half. This was a busy place. Come around 3pm where there's less people and better opportunity for a open table so you don't need to wait. Parking is located in a 5 level parking structure behind the restaurant. Parking is free. There's street parking too.Nice place to take a family of four. Not good for large groups. It's a cozy place. They do have 4 or 5 tables outside. Go give them a try. It's pretty tasty.

Came here today for the very first time with a friend. We got the Beef Pepper Rice Jumbo (which was really not THAT jumbo at all!), the Hamburg & Chicken Sizzling Curry Rice, a side of regular fries and a side of sweet potato fries. Loved the fries and dipped them in our curry. The food was pretty good (4.25/5) but the quantity of the Beef was lacking in the Jumbo. Thought that it was a child's portion. I agree that the portions may seem small for the prices they charge and therefore, one might think that it was not enough bang for the buck! However, this would not deter me from returning and trying other menu items.The lunch experience here was nice and quite enjoyable. I am glad that I came here to try it out. I would definitely return with my niece and nephew when they come up for a visit. They love pepper and curry! So, it would be a win-win for us.

While the food was good and there was no issues, Im simply displeased with how poor of a value the food was. It was the 1st time trying, service was good restaurant was clean, you order in the front. It came out to be $40 for 2 plates which seemed confusingly high. Also, its a seemingly simple plate for the price, "extra" beef, rice, and corn. If you want a topping added its $2.00?!? Onions $2, mushrooms $2 (btw we didnt add anything extra and it was $40 still) for the price it should come with a topping of choice, maybe it could be $1 for extra toppings?? The food itself had good flavor, but again, the lack of value took away so much from it. It wasnt amazing either, good still but not worth the price again. Mediocre portion of rice, and not a lot of beef despite it being the jumbo. And thats all there is to it, rice and beef. $20. Corn I dont even count. Was not full leaving the restaurant.We felt kind of ripped off in the sense that we couldve spent $40 on a nice filling meal elsewhere.

This is a casual order at the counter restaurant. You get your food on a sizzling hot plate. We got the beef pepper rice, kimchi beef pepper rice (I actually ordered chicken and they got my order wrong, but it was fine), and cream teppan pasta with shrimp. The sizzling rice plates were so good and well seasoned. There is a pat of butter in the middle that will melt into your rice. Even the kimchi had a good flavor (not too tangy or briney). There are sauces on the table, but I found that I didn't really need them as my food was very flavorful without. The pasta was just okay. We got it for our daughter, and she seemed to enjoy it, so this is a good alternative for a kid who may not want a lot of pepper in their food. My only other piece of advice is to go with the jumbo size if you are very hungry. The portions were on the smaller size.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and so happy I did! It's a moderate sized restaurant with a decent sized patio area for seating as well. There's 2 kiosks available for ordering but didn't work when we walked in. You order at the cashiers and the food will be brought out to you.We were welcomed when we first walked in. There was no wait but I were here at 4 PM on a Sunday. The place can definitely get packed during normal dining hours.WARNING: All meals come on a sizzling hot plate. Beef pepper rice - 10/5 SO DELICIOUS and the meat is so tender. Only complaint is the amount of beef is pretty minimal. I'm going to have to get the jumbo portion next time for more meat.Angus diced cut steak - 5/5 definitely a healthier option without all the rice. Theres a large portion of vegetables for those who don't want all the carbs. It does come with a side of white rice if you're more hungry. The garlic sauce is so good. Must add to your sizzling plate for a cohesive bite. It really combines your meal.Side note, leftovers are delicious the next day too. I brought it work and everyone was asking where I got it from.Must try!

Pepper Lunch in Alhambra is definitely a spot worth visiting! We ordered two Jumbo Beef Pepper Rice dishes, and they were absolutely delicious. The beef was tender and flavorful, and the pepper rice added a nice kick with its perfectly seasoned spices. The dish was served sizzling hot, which made the experience even more enjoyable as we mixed everything together right at the table.The Sweet Potato Wedges we had on the side were a perfect complement to the main dish. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with just the right amount of sweetness. The portion sizes were generous, making it a satisfying meal overall.The service was also commendable quick and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and I highly recommend giving Pepper Lunch a try if you're in the Alhambra area. You won't be disappointed!

I have been meaning to try Pepper Lunch for the longest time. It was always intimidating how long the line looked like it would be and how popular it is here. I placed an order for food online and I came in and picked it up. I went with the kimchi chicken rice and got it to go. There are a lot of people dining inside and I look like people are enjoying their meals. When you first come in you order at the kiosk and lots of different sizzling options.I thought at first getting my food to go was going to be a little bit hard to replicate what it was supposed to actually feel like but it was still very tasty.I will be incorporating Pepper Lunch into my rotation of restaurants. There's parking in a structure just south of here that you can access from 1st street even the more hidden route from Garfield.

For a fast casual restaurant, this place hits the spot. You order and pay at the register before they give you a table number. The staff delivers the food to you. Love the concept of hot plates so the dishes stay hot for the entire meal! The food comes out extremely fast and the dishes are solid. It does get greasy from the oils and butter, but overall super delicious. The classic beef pepper rice does not come with a lot of meat, however, there is an option to add double meat. Decent price, good food, and fast service!

Staff takes your order quickly and prepares your order in the moment. This place was a bit busy during my visit and was a bit louder than usual.Chicken Kaarage- 4/10 Pieces of chicken were a bit hard. They got tougher as they cooked on my plate. Don't think I'll order this again as it felt a bit over priced for a few 5-6 popcorn chicken pieces.

The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. If you checkin on yelp you can get a free side so I tried the seaweed shake salad along with the chicken karage curry and beef pepper rice. The salad wasn't what I expected. I thought it would be a seaweed salad but it's an actual salad and then with some seaweed. The dressing they gave for it was great tho. The sizzling plates were ok to me. It was rice, corn and meat. I did like that the sizzling plate kept the food nice and hot but the food didn't realy stand out too different.Staff was nice. They do provide water if you don't want to order a drink. Plenty of seating. We didn't have to wait to be seated.
