On The Hook

I have only had jambalaya here and, if I'm not making it myself, I will eat it here. My youngest likes it with medium heat and I like it spicy. It has ham, shrimp, and andouille and the trinity, of course. I always get at least two meals out of one order and actually think it tastes better the next day. They also have interesting choices for lemonade that my kiddo likes a lot. When you're finished up with your meal, they bring over this bottle of bubbling stuff to help clean your hands. It's fun, functional, and sets them apart from other restaurants. One of these days I hope I'll be there with enough people to order a shrimp boil because it looks amazing.

This is one of the more popular restaurants in Brea, and I'm so glad I could try it again recently. Shoutout, Alec, for being very attentive to our table and answering many of our questions. He made the experience way better. The first time I came here, I tried the AHU noodles, which were super strong and had too much flavor. I wouldn't recommend this noodle, but instead, get the classic garlic noodle. When I last visited, I got their fish and Chips, which were crispy and perfectly battered. The calamari was a no-go for us; the batter was falling off and very chewy, it may have been overcooked. We loved the strawberry lemonade; it had a sweet puree and fresh strawberries. Also, the beignets were the star of the show; they were fluffy and perfectly warm.

Please don't think twice about coming here! The food and service is incredible! My son, husband and I shared the AHU chowder and seafood bag. Let me tell you, the next time we come I am getting a whole AHU chowder for myself. It's absolutely the best chowder I've ever tried, I could cry at how good it is. The seafood bags are always flavorful and packed with seafood. Now our server, John, made our great experience even better. He was so kind and attentive. He interacted with my baby a ton and I overheard him being so nice to other tables. He had great recommendations and a great attitude! Please give this place a try for whenever you're craving seafood!

On The Hook is a fantastic spot if you're craving seafood tacos done right. I ordered the fish and shrimp tacos, and both were incredibly fresh and flavorful.The fish taco was perfectly cooked, with a crispy, golden batter that wasn't greasy and a flaky interior that melted in your mouth. It was topped with fresh slaw and a tangy sauce that tied everything together without overwhelming the natural flavor of the fish. The shrimp taco was equally enjoyable, with plump, juicy shrimp seasoned just right and balanced with bright toppings that added texture and flavor. The portions were generous without being over the top, making them satisfying but not too heavy.The service was another highlight. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure everything was prepared to my liking and checking in a few times to see if I needed anything. My food arrived promptly, even though the place was busy during my visit.The ambience was casual and inviting, with a clean, modern setup that made it a comfortable place to sit and enjoy a meal. It's a relaxed spot that works for a quick bite or a laid-back meal with friends.Overall, On The Hook impressed me with its fresh ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and warm service. It's definitely a place I'd recommend to anyone looking for quality seafood tacos in a welcoming environment. I'll be coming back to try more from their menu.

Best seafood in town! My family and I have come to on the hook for years now!! We love it each time. The food never disappoints. The service is amazing very nice and humble people. The vibe is casual, but fun and upbeat. My favorite items to get are the bags of mussels and shrimps. Also for an appetizer the cheesy bread is delicious. We will definitely continue to come back! The newest addition the lobster is very tasty! We have tried all the drinks and they're very good as well. I recommended the strawberry mojito and the mango Margerita. Also they have happy hour Monday- Thursday.

We were craving seafood today and decided to try this place in Brea out. We ordered some appetizers: Hooked chicken wings and fried calamari. Both were tasty, good portion. Be careful both were temperature hot . For our main dishes we ordered the mild seafood gumbo and calm chowder bowl which were okay. The service was spot on the server was very friendly and helpful. My water cup was always full and they checked on us every 5 mins.The restaurant was clean and organized. Overall, this place is decent. I wished I had ordered the shrimp garlic noodles. Tip: they have a decent special lunch menu to order off of.

Service was good, food was even better. Loved the on the hooked wings for happy hour! Fried fish tacos were chef kiss good! Not pictured is the oyster I devoured.

Tried this at the recommendation of a friend, and I'm so happy I did!Got the crab legs with the mild version of the on the hook sauce combo. Note that you cannot do half pound! (friend got the highest spice level and it was definitely spicy - take note!)iirc, it's a bit pricier than boiling crab but also higher quality that you can taste. I also really liked that bubbling bottle they brought out at the end to clean our hands. SO COOL!Will definitely be back!

Service was great! Our server didnt even write down our orders for table of 8. She was awesome! All the servers brought out our food as it was ready which is better than waiting til everything was ready.I have to give it up for their service was probably the best I have had in such a long time.All the Lychee limeade was SO good and refreshing. It had such a good balance with the tartness and sweetness! It hit the stop on a hot August day.Great experience with good tasting food and great service. Everything was reasonably priced so I will be back. We found a good to place for those that like seafood and those that dont all in one spot. I forgot to take a picture of the garlic parmesan fries we ordered as appetizers because they looked so good and they were.I highly recommend this place!
