This restaurant is located inside the Han Nam Chain Super 1 Mart on Beach Blvd and Malvern. There are three different stands inside this food court area that I can succinctly describe as "korean food", "korean japanese", and "korean chinese". Myong Dong Boon Shik would be the "korean" stand you hit first walking into the food court. The "korean japanese" serves more sushi like items. The "korean chinese" serves black bean noodles, wontons, etc.Came by for a quick lunch and ordered the kimchi bokgum bap (kimchi fried rice) and daeji bool go gi (spicy korean pork). it was packed since it was a sunday and it seemed lots of kids came by here for post-church lunch fellowship.Might have been a reason why the food took so long. The kimchi fried rice was alright~ good portion for the price, lots of kimchi but nothing else to make it stand out. They should add some sort of meat aside from the sunny side up egg that you stir in (yum). They give you a little plate of kimchi and banchan which is nothing worth mentioning. The baechu kimchi (cabbage kimchi) was ok, but the chong gak kimchi was waay soft and over done (raddish cube kimchi). The pork was spicy and had lots of onion but the thing was swimming in oil. It's a weird reddish pepper oil that seemed kind of foreign to me. We had to tilt our order to the side and pull out the meat cuz it was just gross to see meat swimming in this strange what i presume was pepper oil. It tasted okay but it was on the negative side for the amount of oil they put into the box.Prices were okay but the food was definitely on the fast food side of the spectrum. I probably wouldn't order those dishes again. I do kind of wish I ordered the cold noodles (they have kong gook soo and nengmyun) but meh.. i think most people here were coming for the korean chinese stand (black bean noodle / jja jjang myun).Would have rather ordered something else or picked up the fast food items inside the store.2.5wouldn't recommend for those two dishes (maaaybe for the kimchi fried rice if you really didnt want to make it at home) but over all .. bleh.

Found this little gem while on my hunt to find the "Best JjaJangMyun".This place is located in the food court at the Super 1 Mart Hannam Chain market in Buena Park. The seating is cafeteria style. You order your food and then find seats amongst the several rows of long tables put together. Seating is REALLY hard during the noon lunch hour. If you are savvy, you'll come with an accomplice and have them scout out seats a la "Lord of the Flies" style, while you order the food. Seriously. The A/C is also very weak in this food court area and thus, it is pretty warm and a little uncomfortable since you're sitting elbow to elbow next to a Korean ahjumma (auntie) or ahjusssi (uncle). Despite all of these downsides...the last part is actually the upside!! You want to eat Korean food where all of the Korean people are eating!!! Good food for good prices!!We ordered the Dong Tae Chigae (Spicy Alaska Pollack Stew) and Duen Jang Chigae (Bean Paste Stew), which are my parents' go-to orders at most Korean restaurants. My grammar is correct...there is no "N" at the end of "Alaska". I guess it's a noun and not an adjective. I digress... According to Wikipedia, "Compared with common pollack, Alaska pollack is milder in taste, whiter in color, and lower in oil content. It is a popular choice for fast food restaurants, for example in the McDonald's Filet-O-Fish". Growing up, you know what it is, but may not know the English name for the food that you're eating. This tidbit was informative for me too! Anyhow, both my parents are discriminatory eaters, especially because my mom is an AMAZING Korean cook!! Without the label of "food critic", they will taste something and start a running commentary of what they like and dislike...I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Haha! The Dong Tae Chigae had a clean, refreshing quality to the broth without being too spicy. A complaint that my dad often makes, if this stew is improperly made, is that the broth doesn't have depth or flavor development, but rather tastes like someone merely dissolved some Korean red pepper paste in water. This is his interpretation of a flat broth. As mentioned earlier, the spice level was modest, so the the stew enjoyable to eat. There was also a lot of hearty ingredients within the soup the as well. The Duen Jang Chigae was also a hit with my mom and EXACTLY how I like it as well...with a nice heat from the sliced jalapeños.The stews are accompanied by a divided tray with some side dishes. While the side dishes are pretty good, they are a "kid's meal" portion!! If I were order this for myself, it definitely wouldn't be enough for me. The rice is self service. There are 2 humongous industrial sized rice cookers to the left of the counter where you are supposed to dole out your 1 serving...as directed by the note above the rice cookers. There is plain white rice and a wild grain rice, which makes the rice turn purple. It doesn't taste any different, but older Koreans seem to think that it's a "healthier" option. These two stews were REALLY good! My parents think that they are better than the ones at Ye Dang, which are almost double the price. Since the seating may be an issue, I will probably get these particular stews to go and eat them with some ban-chan (sides) that I already have at home. Not sure what the To-Go serving sizes are for the sides dishes.

Found this place when I was looking at some kimchi in the Super 1 Hannam Mart in Buena Park. They don't speak a whole lot of English but you can get your order across pretty well if you know the number or the name of the dish in Korean! Also they may not call your order number in English either so if you do not know Korean pay attention to the trays. We were looking at the options and they were all very standard Korean fare. They have bibimbap, kalguksu, cold noodles, naengmyeon, etc... everything you could really want from Korean staples. All dishes also come with a set of banchan and you can go back to get more of a certain type or all of it if you wish. We ordered the seafood kalguksu and donkasseu and it was ready within about 5 or 10 minutes. Rice was self serve for me since it came with my meal so I went to go scoop some from the large pot and there is white and brown rice available I believe. The women who were helping were very nice and we enjoyed it all! The noodle texture of the kalguksu was great and the broth was delightfully seafoody. The donkasseu was really home-y with a good crunch and the cabbage salad is always great alongside. I will come here again to try their other dishes in the future... especially the kalbitang or their "Korean pasta" which I assume is just sort of like a bibimbap with noodles!! Great value here with great flavors in a rather unassuming setting. I find that most Korean markets have eateries like this and the food is always great. I hope to try more in the future since as from my pictures I hope you can tell that it is rather good looking, haha.Tips:- water is self serve, get it either at the left area near this spot or on the other side at the Chinese restaurant with tangsuyuk/jajangmyeon- rice is also self serve near the 1 dollar coffee machine- pay attention to your order! - can leave trays at your table or hand them to the owners after- ask for more banchan/side dishes if you want more! Let them know which or if you want them all

Tucked away in the small food court at Han Nam Super 1 Mart, Myung Dong Boon Shik has some tasty dishes. Their specialty seems to be soondubu jjigae (soft tofu stew). It's served in a hot bowl and stays hot. The gentleman who usually serves us seems to be the owner as he is especially courteous. He said kahm sahm ni da (thank you) after giving me an extra cup for water. He said it again when I asked for more banchan (fermented spicy cabbage and other appetizers). And he said it one more time, after giving me a togo container. Inexpensive, quality food. I'm a fan.

I was inside the Han Nam Chain supermarket getting some stuff for a family visit and was hankering for some soondae. They had all your homey favorites and looked decent. I just grabbed an order of soondae to go. Not great, but not bad--good enough to satisfy a craving in a pinch. My 2 year-old nephew dug it, if that's any indication of the tastiness of their soondae. I wouldn't mind trying some of their other stuff next time.

Located in hannam supermarket and cater towards the korean community here. One of the worst Korean food I have eaten. Food does not taste like real korean food. Prices are average as other korean restaurants but quality and taste is just plain bad. Staffs don't smile to customers either. Need a lot of improvement before I ever come back.

They are pretty decent. Its inside of the hannamchain korean market, so its easy to stop by after you shop. They used to have a lot more variety of food choice, but they cut down to less due to economy I guess. The food is pretty good. If you want to try cheap, pretty fast service of Korean food, then try this place. You pick up the food from the counter, and just leave it on table after you're done. The busboy picks them up.

I'm not sure why this place is getting no love. It's pretty good. Located in the food court of the Han Nam Chain market, they serve a little bit of everything. From dukk bok gee(spicy rice cakes), kalbi, and noodles, to bibimbap or various soups, they do it all. The dukk bok gee is pretty good as is the spicy pork bulgoki. The bibimbap and kalbi are also good. The meals vary in price from $7 to $10 and they are large. They come with rice, a bowl of Korean style egg drop soup, side salad, and small plate of various kimchee/ban chan. The side salad seems like an afterthought, but it is actually really good. It is a mix of lettuce and perilla leaves with a drizzle of sweet kochu jang(red pepper paste) dressing. It's a great complement to any of their dishes. Service is friendly, and you order at the counter, then wait for your number to be called. They have color pictures of all their menu items so it's easy to order. Once you order, the big silver rice cookers are on the left and you serve yourself. You can pile on the rice in your bowl! Seating is at long cafeteria style communal tables in the food court. I think the quality of the food is pretty close to Surah which is the fancy Korean restaurant in the same parking lot. Not too shabby for a food court. If you're coming on a Sunday and complaining about how it's so busy, then why don't you get your cheap self to a real restaurant? Come with a small group and you can share a lot of the dishes or even mix in some jja jang myun from the other food court restaurant.

BEWARE OF DIRTY UNHYGIENIC PRACTICE We ordered the Dough Flakes Soup ( Soojaebi) and it was not seasoned. Thinking that the cook forgot to add salt we asked that she go in and add some seasoning to our food. To our horrific surprise she tasted our food added salt tasted it again adding more seasoning. We counted her re-dipping her dirty spoon 4 separate times into our food. After re-dipping multiple times and tasting multiple times she had enough nerves to give us the food back for our consumption. We left the entire meal untouched there to be thrown away. We felt like throwing up after seeing her extremely dirty preparation. This place really needs a serious education on food safety. This is the way that hepatitis and other diseases spread. We used to feed our daughter who is a toddler from this restaurant and now I am horrified as a parent seeing this Dirty cook re-dipping her spoon multiple times after tasting into our food. Shame on this establishment
