Mako Ramen

This new ramen place is in the same parking lot as Ralphs and Target. It's spacious with large amount of seating. It looks fast casual but a server took our order, brought our food, refilled drinks, and bussed tables. We came during the weekday and they had some lunch specials. My wife ordered the lunch combo which per the menu came with a half sized ramen and choice of appetizer. I ordered the full sized ramen. Honestly, go for the lunch special. Both bowls were huge and appeared the same size. Even the appetizer was huge. We had tonkatsu ramen, gyoza, and kaarage. Everything was flavorful and we loved it all. The roasted pork included with the ramen was delicious. Kaarage was super juicy and tender yet crunchy from the batter. Service was really friendly and they kept checking up on us. My wife and I both loved our meal and can't wait to return!

Pork belly was tender, good fat to meat ratio, and large portion easy for sharing and reasonable on the wallet Dry ramen special with green onion, poached egg, seaweed, and mince meat. Protip use some of the house chili oil sparing as a small bunch as the heat sneaks up on you and the sesame oil balances the flavors and heat. Tan tan love the heartiness of the shiitake and crunch of woodear mushroom and bamboo shoots and bean sprouts - silky firm tofu to absorb the broth. Did not feel overly heavy or salty. Noodles cooked well. Service was lovely and great spot to dine solo, group, and date night. Would return to try additional dishes!

Came here for a late lunch since we're in the area. No wait and our sever was attentive and got our orders right away. We ordered two soy sauce ramen with chicken karrage and kimchi to share. The ramen portion was big and I shared with my kid and didn't finish. The chicken was very juicy and big! The home made kimchi was very good and we took all the left over home.

This is a solid local Japanese ramen spot! They have classic tonkotsu broth which is my favorite and harder to find in this area. The broth is really rich and flavorful, exactly what you want. They also provide a good amount of toppings, but I wish they had more add-on options available like corn or black garlic oil (which are my go-tos). Our server was super friendly and consistently checked on us. I recommend trying this restaurant if you're already in the area!

I'll start by saying the service here is fantastic, and the table set up/ambiance is similar to the place before. When we walked in we didn't realize it was a sit down where someone comes at takes your order. The food was just ok. The gyoza was pretty good and we liked the dipping sauce it came with. The noodle dish my husband got was really basic and the broth tastes like chicken broth and that's it , and the pork was not good; we were expecting a bit more. The Katsu was decent, but the rice was cold and the salad dressing tastes more like vinegar and less of ginger. We'd be willing to try this again and order different ramen to see if the flavors are there. Hoping this place does well and doesn't fall to the bad luck of that corner spot because everyone there is so nice!

Good for ramen. If you're looking for something else, you're going to be disappointed as the menu is pretty thin outside of ramen. No wait for a weekend dinner, plenty of open tables.Service was fast and friendly. Restaurant feels very new and clean.Plenty of parking available in the shopping plaza.

Affordable, delicious and homey. A perfect fall/winter meal. This is exactly what you hope for. Absolute perfection. Just a note, they keep the AC on high inside the restaurant.

Seal Beach doesn't strike me as a place that would have a decent ramen place, but this place changed my mind. There are ramen places in nearby cities, but this may be the only one in Seal Beach. It's more of a modern take on ramen, but I actually prefer it that way. It seems to use good quality ingredients without the use of MSG, which I appreciate. These days I can't eat traditional Japanese ramen anymore because they are way too salty and leave me with a dry cotton mouth. I didn't get any of that nasty aftertaste from this place. Classic Tonkotsu ramen had smooth, flavorful broth without being too salty. It came with chashu, woodear mushrooms, red ginger, green onions, egg, and bean sprouts. Spicy Sweet Cold Ramen was excellent. This was a great dish to have on a hot day like today. It's dry, chilled ramen with slightly spicy sesame/soy based sauce, served with chashu, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, shiitake mushrooms, bean sprouts, red radishes, egg, bamboo shoots, and spring mix. It's basically a ramen salad. The noodles were very al dente, which is how I like it, although may be little too firm for some. Portion was good on both. Came with my wife and daughter and we could barely finish our dishes. We ordered some appetizers (Karaage and Glazed Brussels Sprouts) but ended up taking those home because it was too much food for us. For a casual, semi-service restaurant, the service was really good. Staff members were friendly, enthusiastic, and attentive. I wouldn't mind driving out of my way to come back here again even though I have access to good ramen places closer to home.

Mako Ramen...where have you been my whole life?!!Quality and quantity packed full of the freshest ingredients and robust flavor.And enough food in this large bowl to satisfy even my wife.
