Updates: They still have $9.99/lb instead of $13.99/lb as of 2/14/2025. We went there a week ago and it was a full house at dinner time. The price was good but my hubby's bowl was 2.5 pounds. (Be careful with some spicy soup bases). We all enjoyed our Malatang dinner even my daughters also liked it. Please read my previous review for more detailed information! :)

I was craving something hot and spicy for lunch, and as a fan of malatang, I found this place on Yelp and decided to check it out.Right now, they're running a promotion--$9.99/lb instead of $13.99/lb --which is a great deal! They offer a wide selection of meats, vegetables, and noodles. I chose the pork broth with medium level of spiciness, and it was perfect. The sauce counter has plenty of options, allowing me to customize the flavor to my liking. The only small hiccup was that they only provided disposable plates for the sauce instead of bowls. A small bowl would make mixing and dipping much easier.Overall, the food was delicious, and the customer service was excellent. The lady, who I believe is the owner, was very friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be coming back!

LXF Malatang replaced the old Beef Noodle joint as well as the Ramen restaurant with hot pot where you pay for your food by weight. You choose your items (beef ball, veggies, beef, lamb...just to list a few), and you are charged $13.99/pound (currently $9.99/pound for grand opening promo). This concept may be "new" around this area but they've opened quite a few of these in Arcadia pre-covid days. Love the hours of 11am-11pm 7/days a week because it is so difficult to find a restaurant that opens till late in Walnut. The owner speaks Mandarin, and is very nice and courteous. LXF is located right next to Vons so you'll never have to worry about not being able to find parking. It is a small restaurant with approximately 10 small tables, so it does get packed quite often, so be prepare to wait for about 20 minutes during both lunch and dinner hours. I recommend LXF and give them an overall rating of 8/10.

Standard mala tang place that allows you to choose your ingredients and soup base, and pay by the weight. They don't do dry pot here but do a dry mix, which is what I got. I asked specifically for nonspicy and she guaranteed it wasn't, but it WAS spicy! Just be warned for those that can't handle spice. It was still very very tasty and garlicky, and I didn't mind the spicy level at all. When I asked them about it, they thought it wasn't spicy haha. This place is legit and authentic! Really kind service, delicious food, and great price right now for their opening special. It's normally $13.99/lb but now $9.99 for their grand opening.Highly recommend giving this mala tang place a try.

A wonderful new customizable hot pot spot in Walnut! The store itself is a little small so the seats and tables are limited, but when we went on a Sunday, there was no wait. The staff are very nice and can answer any questions you have about the food and process. The store provides a variety of meats, vegetables, and other fun treats to put in your hot pot. Price is based off weight, so be careful how much you put in your bowl!Once you have chosen everything you want, they have a menu with a variety of soup bases to cook your ingredients in. I chose the secret soup with slight spice and it was delicious! The broth was very flavorful and rich. All the ingredients were also cooked very well. This new spot is a great place to try and i will try to return soon! I would recommend coming now as they have a promotion discounting the price from $13.99/lb to $9.99/lb. I don't know when the promotion will end, so definitely come soon!

Temporarily closed for business for the second time! I called the restaurant telephone number and the owner told me they would reopen again in about two weeks. Not sure exactly why this keeps happening, but definitely will be back for their delicious soup base!

La Xiao Fu is a newly opened malatang restaurant. They have a soft opening special of $9.99 a pound when their usual price will be $13.99. Just grab a bowl and tong and choose what ingredient you want in your bowl, price of your bowl depend on how heavy your ingredients are.Selection is smaller than other places I've tried but they do carry various mushrooms, and several types of greens. For meats, they have thinly sliced mutton, beef, various kinds of fishcakes, shrimp, sausages, intestines. For vegetables, they had cilantro, seaweed strips, bean sprouts, bamboo, broccoli, potato, lotus root, wintermelon, and various types of mushrooms. For broth, it's either beef or pork bone broth. They do have a secret soup which is a mix of the two. They don't have tomato based broth but they do have a house special beef rice noodle with tomato that's separate.I like to get spam, sliced beef, rice cakes, quail eggs, bamboo, lotus roots, tofu skin, wide glass noodles with bokchoy and cabbage with the secret broth in slightly spicy which was not too spicy for me. The bowl was large for one person and the broth was rich and spicy. I also got a side of fried sausage ($5.99) which was basically deep fried hot dogs with chili powder so I won't get it again, it's good though. They have a small table that has the ingredients for dipping sauces. The sauce bar is set too close to the ingredients table since if there's a person at the sauce bar, you have to wait to get the ingredients in the upper corner. They do have crushed peanuts as one of the ingredients. They also have oyster sauce, chili oil, chopped garlic, sesame paste, cilantro, fermented bean curd, green onions, black vinegar, soy sauce, leek flower, and vine pepper oil. They also have a small menu of fried sides to get such was sausage, fried bread with condensed milk, sweet potato balls, and brown sugar rice cake. Once you're done, you pay after you finish eating. The lady was nice, the wait time was not long. Good amount of tables and a nice size parking lot next to Vons.

Pay by the pound hot pot spot in the Vons complex. Came here with my parents for dinner on a Sunday around 5:30 and we're able to have our choice of table, though by 6:30 the place was full and people were waiting to get seated. The concept is that you pick which items you want in your hot pot and then get it weighed so you know how much to pay. From there, you also pick the spice level and type of broth for them to cook it for you, and then bring it out. I opted for the special broth which was a mix of beef and pork at a medium spicy level, and was satisfied. There's a good section of meats, veggies, and noodles. There's a sauce bar as well for you to create your own combinations. They bring your pot out to you once it. Is cooked and you can use the smaller bowls to eat from it, or eat directly from the pot. There's a water dispenser for you to serve yourself. Credit cards are accepted. I ended up getting 1.5 lbs of food but the prices are still reasonable and I had leftovers the next day.

Its a self service hot pot with beef bone, pork bone, or secret soup base. They just opened three days ago, so it was empty. Just us. We were about to go to the pizza next door when we saw this place. Inside is spacious but a bit hot. The lady was very friendly

I'm so excited they opened a hot pot place in Walnut that goes by weight. The current special is $9.99lb. The person who told me, which I believe is the owner, said it would last for about a month so I'm assuming until the end of January 2025. After that I believe it will go back to the price of $13.99/lb. We've only done take out. They asked me if I wanted my soup and ingredients together or separate. They have the mala type of soup and have a good selection of ingredients. They have the wide potato noodle and rice noodle and a bunch of other dry noodle options on the top of the counter. I like that they offer pigs blood and pig intestine as well. They don't have tomato soup or satay sauce, which can be found in maybe other hot pot places. The soup is more on the liquidy side versus the thick brothy type. The owner is super nice even though her english is limited. She tries her best and is really kind. There's about 12-15 tables and they weigh your food towards the back of the restaurant. I'll be back and I hope they stick around!
