Came for a Saturday GNO. The place is clean and the ambiance had a dark, edgy vibe which I enjoyed. The servers were nice and accommodating. We started off with drinks, ordered bacon-wrapped dates (it was supposed to be a thursday special but luckily they had some left and graciously served it to us) and elote for appetizers, and shrimp and brisket tacos for entrees.Drinks- They are generous with alcohol which is very much appreciated. Our cocktails had a moderate amount of sweetness and a refreshing finish.Bacon wrapped dates- These were absolutely perfect! The bacon was seared beautifully and had a slight crisp. The saltiness from it complemented the sweet date. It finished off with a savory but creamy blue cheese filling. Heaven in a bite!Elote- The corn and cheese blended well and the chicharon pieces gave it an extra layer of texture. The dish was seasoned well and had a hint of lime.Brisket tacos- The meat was wonderfully tender and seasoned astutely. It practically melted in the mouth! The tortillas it came with were soft with a slight crisp and well-proportioned with the filling.Shrimp tacos- The shrimp was nice and juicy with a slight zing of spice. It complemented our brisket tacos pretty well and gave us a good variety of flavors.Wonderful meal and service overall!

Food was excellent. Love that the food comes out as family style. So everyone gets to share. Tried multiple tacos and they were all delicious. There were quesadillas also. The churros are amazing. Their drinks are amazing! Got the Abueja which was refreshingly delicious. We sat outside, they had heaters and blankets so wasn't an issue with the cold. My issues were the following and how they lost stars:Service initially was attentive then it felt like they kinda forgot about us. They forgot one of our churro orders and when we brought it to their attention, they were nice enough to take if off of our bill. We were a party of 7 (including kids) and they added a 20% tip to our bill. Most places generally do this with parties of 8 or more. Lastly one of our party members actually fell trying to get out of the bench at the table. Seems like the ground was uneven under the bench. It happens and luckily she only had a few scraps but it's unfortunate. Someone from the restaurant (unsure if owner or manager) came to check on her but then proceeded to tell us that this happened before. What?! If it happened before then why leave the table there? It makes no sense. Anyway, cool place to try, not sure i will be back. Sad.

In the Artist Village of DTSA you'll find a corridor with a string of bars and restaurants. Lola Gaspar is hidden gem. It was a Thursday afternoon. Doors opened at 5pm and we were there at 5:08. Before we even walked in the host came out and greeted our party of 4 just out front and invited us in. This was a tell tale sign that attentive service is part of their standard. We were among the first guests in and so we were offered option for outdoor or indoor seating. We took a table inside which had a perfect view of the bar, the two TV's (NBA playoffs wand the kitchen. Our server was quick with waters gave a us a break down of the key items on the menu. Knowledgeable across the board about drinks and the food. They take a unique approach to the food with signature variations of familiar Mexican food such as Quekas and tacos. We placed our orders and I'd say turnaround times of the bar and the kitchen are definitely efficient. What did we order?Drink: La Paloma 5/5 Bear Fucker 5/5 Food: Guacamole and Chips 5/5 Carrot Pastor Tacos 4/5 Carne Asada Taco 4/5 Mushroom tacos 5/5 Queka Chorizo 3/5 Fairly priced, and quality eats. Drinks and the Guacamole alone are worth returning for but bring an appetite and you have a solid menu of food to satisfy your appetite. Good work Lola Gaspar

My family enjoyed a very good meal at Lola Gaspar with a cozy ambiance that made it memorable! The Taquitos de Camote was a healthy version from the usual meat stuffing. They were so good! The Tacos were all excellent and the Chile Relleno was amazing! The Churros were a perfect end to a sumptuous meal!

My boyfriend insisted we order all 7 tacos on the menu despite our waiter recommending 2 tacos each. My favorite tacos were the brisket, shrimp and carrot. My least favorite was the potato. The tacos were generous and we couldn't finish them, so I agree with the recommendation of 2 tacos per person. The huckleberry cocktail was our favorite out of the three cocktails we tried and my coworker's recommendation to get the bear f**cker shot was a unique experience made better by our waiter cheering us on. Overall, Lola Gaspar has yummy Michelin-star approved food in a setting that is far from pretentious.

Although we were recommended this place by someone with whom we usually share tastes, this was a really disappointing experience. We came on a Tuesday, not knowing there was a limited menu, and before we had a chance to look at the page of items, were offered chips and salsa or guacamole. This sounds nice, but after a glance at the menu, we saw the guacamole was $16, which truly just doesn't seem right. We ordered spicy margaritas, chicharrones, a braised beef quesadilla, a carne asada taco, and a shrimp taco. We did want to try the chips and salsa, and were again asked if we also wanted the guacamole. I don't blame the servers for their efforts in upselling; it seemed one of them was training a new server. But it's not a good feeling, made more uncomfortable by the fact that our drinks came after the quesadilla, chicharrones, and finally midway through the tacos. Unfortunately, the shrimp had a really unpleasant, fishy aftertaste, and the margaritas were overpriced at $13 for how stale they tasted. It might've been an "off" day, but I wouldn't come back and I regret not having cash to just directly tip the person grilling the quesadillas outside because the braised beef was phenomenal. After we received the check and had already given our cards, the server returned to let us know an item had been forgotten to be added to the check. For the sporadic and spotty service and poor quality of the shrimp and drinks, the $90 bill was a bit tough to stomach- not to mention that my partner's stomach literally didn't feel well afterwards.

I like the place, pretty intimate type setting but also doesn't turn away friends who want to hang out and watch the LAFC game.Drinks were a bit watered down so that was really disappointing so ordered beer after the first round.Food was pretty good. I wish the shrimp tacos was chopped rather than whole to get better bites. The chile relleno was solid with the goat cheese but wished the breading was different. I can't put my finger what was off with it but it was weird. The lamb barbacoa quekas was really good and the sweet habanero salsa paired really well with it. The fat was rendered perfectly and it was not gamey at all.The brisket suadero taco was solid, they were almost like burnt ends.Overall a decent spot, personally the price point not bad. Might not be my first choice when I'm back in the area.

Food is good, but the ambiance and customer service is not what it used to be. We went in before dinner, there weren't a lot of patrons. Yet we felt like we were being rushed out. They never came back to ask us if we wanted more drinks. We felt like we were bothering them. Sucks that this is so close to us, but just not inviting anymore. I get it we all have bad days, but we have felt this on multiple occasions. We tried to give them more chances but will definitely not be coming back. This was our go to spot, perfect for bear f*%^. Only true locals know.
