Tried a lot of them! My top 2 was spicy chicken!! And mushroom. Getting a dozen is definitely worth it! I think I'd get 10 spicy chicken and 2 mushroom next time. Food came out fast. I liked how they labeled the empanadas clearly.

We have had the empanadas here several times and they have always been delicious!! My son, who is a real foodie, and has been all over the world, was coming to visit so I decided to order empanadas from here. I knew he would like them.We had a get together at my house with about 18 people. I ordered 6 dozen assorted empanadas. We got Chicken, Mushroom, Spicy Chicken, Nortena,Arab and Pizza (they don't normally make these, but I asked for them with pepperoni, mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce). They were all yummy, but the Arab & the mushroom were the favorites!! The prices are reasonable at $3 each or $30/dozen. Also, the little lady who helps us each time we've been there is so sweet and helpful. This place is in the back of a liquor store, but don't let that keep you from trying them. They even have a little dining area. It's clean and the staff are all very nice. Oh, they also sell pizzas, which we will try next time we come!!If you are looking for something easy, different and delicious and won't break the bank, definitely give this place a try, you'll be happy you did! Or if you just want dinner or lunch for the family, make a green salad and grab some of these yummy and hearty empanadas, perfect!! I forgot to take pics of them, next time! They are beautiful, especially the Arab!! (It's beef and veggies)

The empanadas are really good, my whole Argentine family loves them. I'm used to Tito's Market empanadas in El Monte (those are bigger with more meat). The empanada as La Portena focus more on the flavors inside and really good pasty on the outside. These taste, size and appearance resemble empanadas I got in Buenos Aires. My current go to for family events Spicy beef and Cheese & onions are my favorites

The best empanada was the pineapple and cheese. Though that sounds like a weird combo, trust that it was strangely delicious. That is, if you like pineapple and if you like cheese. I wanted to love the other flavors but sadly, I've had my fill of empanadas and this spot, inside of the liquor store, is a bit odd .

Stop by to check out this hidden gem located at the back of the liquor store. I got my order to go, but you can sit to eat there as well as it is very spacious with many tables. The empanadas were light and delicious. The chimichurri they give you on the side takes the food to another level!

Truly authentic Argentinian empanadas. The place is hidden inside a licor store, the place looks extra clean which I like. The lady that gave me my food was probably the owner and she reminded me that is I place my order directly with her, the food is a little cheaper. The empanada were so good, sorry, didn't take a picture because we ate them so fast.

Thanks to fellow Yelpers, I found this out of the way place that just happens to be fantastic. Don't be deterred by its back of a liquor store location. Heritage House Liquor which has been around as long as I remember. It's one of the old school Tustin places that make Tustin Tustin - not you, Tustin Ranch. I doubt you will find better empanadas anywhere, and they serve quite a variety of them. They serve also sandwiches and pizza, both of which I intend to try based on my experience with the empanadas. There are a few small tables if you want to eat there, but It's mostly take out. My empanadas traveled well on the 15 minute drive home. For my first time, I chose the beef empanadas served, of course, with house made chimichurri sauce. Three of them at $3.00 each were plenty to fill me up. The service is very friendly. Be sure to tip. It's a good place all the way around.

We ordered 16 dozen empanadas at $30/dozen: that's 192 pieces of consistent delight! These empanadas are amazing! We picked them up at 11 and served them around 12:30 and they were still fresh and warm. We ordered; beef, spicy beef (folks raved about this one), chicken, beans, and spinach & ricotta. I only tried the spinach, beans, and chicken and they were so tasty, and packed with flavor. Their chimichurri sauce is probably one of the best I've ever had. Honestly, I can drink it in a cup. I know when food is good because our staff comes back for seconds and always asks, where is this from? Thankfully they gave us some menus, so we were able to hand those out.
