Finally got an opportunity to try Katsu Bar. The interior is very clean and cutely decorated. The service was great. The girl who helped was friendly and after bringing my order asked if she couls bring me water in addition to my drink. I ordered the Kimchi Mandu Curry plate with the curry on the side. The curry and dumplings are really flavorful. I liked the sides of macaroni salad and lightly dressed Arugula salad. The rice was cooked perfectly as well. There a few other things I want to try, so I will definitely be back.

Just randomly walk in while touring the plaza. This curry udon place is located next to Tour (Korean 85 degrees) and Panda Express and shake shack...in a plaza where parking is limited so best bet is to park in the parking plaza across the street (next to a former Buffalo Wild Wings) and it's 3 min walk from the structureInside is very small with limited dining seats but at least the side has cushions. Menu is very simple and have daily Monday to Friday specials. Female cashier was helpful on answering questions for first timers. Order fried calamari appetizer and pork katsu curry udon. You can make it extra spicy for extra 50 cents charge. Sodas are fountain. Female cashier who help me left for the day and another one came in. Fried calamari appetizer is lightly fried and not too greasy and it comes with ranch I guess. The curry udon was the reason I chose to give this place a try. Let's be honest: I expect something more hearty but at least what you saw on the pictures is what you get. Extra spicy is not spicy if you are spicy lover. Overall, this is ok. What kills it is the second cashier (wearing Nektar Juice Bar shirt) who took over and handed the food and didn't say anything (and it ruin the experience). The cashier who help me...communicate very well when I came in and up to the end after ordering. Props to her

Likes:+ Interesting take on katsu. Here they serve the cutlets sandwich-style. It was fun trying something new.+ Also the berry katsu sauce was yummy and new for me.+ Relatively cheap. A decent meal costs less than $20 here.+ Polite, helpful staff.+ Plenty of indoor seating.+ Huge parking lot, but often crowded.+ Located in bustling Brea Downtown. Groceries, home goods, furniture - lots to do while you're here.Non-likes:- The food is dry. Even with the ketchup and berry katsu sauce, my mouth felt dry halfway through the meal. I needed a drink to help finish the rest.- The healthiness value was okay. Not much fiber or nutritional options (veggies or fruits).- Extra $3 to order on UE or DD.I had the Rosemary Katsu Sando + waffle fries + tax= $15.62

I had high hopes for Katsu Bar, but unfortunately, it didn't quite meet expectations. I ordered the katsu plate, and while the flavors were decent, the portion size was surprisingly small for the price. It left me feeling like the meal didn't quite satisfy. The katsu itself was overly oily, which made it less enjoyable. Instead of having that perfect crispiness, the breading felt heavy and greasy. It also lacked the lightness I expect from a good katsu. The service was fine--nothing particularly stood out. The staff was polite, but there wasn't much engagement beyond the basics of taking and delivering the order. The ambience of the restaurant was clean and modern, but it felt a bit generic. It didn't have much personality to make it feel like a place I'd want to linger or return to for a special meal.Overall, while the experience wasn't terrible, it wasn't good enough for me to consider coming back soon. The food didn't live up to its potential, and the value just wasn't there.

This is my favorite dinner that my husband buys me after a long day at work. The curry udon is the greatest comfort food. Fair warning: it is spicy. And we're spicy food lovers. HOT!Also, the takeout is masterfully done. It is properly separated for home consumption.

Since I had a great experience previously, I needed to come back with my husband this time to try other food on the menu. This time I ordered chicken katsu sandwich with waffle fries, Korean gang jung and tteokbokki with chicken katsu. The katsu, gang jung and waffle fries were crispy and juicy, the buns were soft and tteokbokki was very tasty. I recommend them all to anyone. The service is always superb whether you order through KIOSK or in person. They always give you napkins with a spoon, fork, knife and chop sticks, which I love. The restaurant is so clean as the staff wipe and clean the store constantly.

Food was good, service was quick and efficient. No frills quick grub.Came here for quick meal and it was a pleasant experience. Ordered one of the katsu chicken which comes with rice, a tiny bit of salad and a tiny bit of pickled daikon. The curry sauce was delicious, Japanese style. The whole place was not big but was clean. Outdoor seating available. Easy parking.

We tried this place today and I have to say they have the perfect crunch to their Katsu. We also tried the breaded mushroom Katsu, it was delicious. The food is reasonably priced and my hard to please mother loved it. The workers there were super friendly with great customer service.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating today since I was indecisive on what to order and changed my selections at the last minute. The food was also delicious. The pork katsu had a very light and well-prepared crispy panko crust. The mild curry on top has a bit of red sauce that adds to the spiciness, but you can select your spice level. (I actually prefer no spice.) As for the sandwich, it was like a pairing of a delicious sweet berry jam with savory katsu - unique, but better as a lunch than dinner option. My main criticism would be the presentation of the rice and macaroni salad, which looked like it was from the bottom of the rice cooker and that the half of the katsu gets really soggy in the curry. Besides this, it probably would of been a 5-star review. I believe they also have specials on the weekdays based on their outdoor kiosk.

Went with two little kids and got regular katsu plate, curry katsu plate, and rosemary katsu sando. The katsu was one of the better and fresher ones you can get in the area. I really enjoyed the sando and it was definitely different from others I've tried before elsewhere. My picky kids not only loved the katsu but they loved the curry even more! They asked if we can go back sometime, which is as good an endorsement as it gets for my family!
