Kavaleras is a trendy and tasty spot.I went here for a quick lunch during a workday. It was quick, yummy, and had a cool ambience. The interior looks really cool with bright lights, music, and cool "graffiti" style artwork. The portions are good sizes and very good. Would recommend the wet burrito (with green sauce) or the enchiladas suizas. You can tell the meats and ingredients are high quality here as it definitely a step up from other Mexican food chains.I'd imagine it's more of a bar/going out scene during the evening given the bright lights and music so something to keep in mind if you're into that or not.

All I can say is WOWWW!!! You have to find your way to the Orange/Santa Ana Mainplace area and pop in.I was blown away by the amazing service and vibes are definitely Day of the Dead (very different and cool!)Food was 5+ stars! Amazingly tasty Guacamole, which comes with chips and chicharron. Also ordered the fajitas and tacos Gobernador, and all the meat and seafood was seasoned and cooked to perfection. If you haven't been here, make plans asap! I can't wait to try the weekend brunch and happy hour menus. I will definitely be back soon for more!

Visited Kalaveras to check out their happy hour, and the experience started off on a high note. The ambiance was inviting, and I was excited to enjoy some fun bites and drinks. However, things took a turn when they dimmed the lights and cranked up the music. What was once a cozy dining atmosphere transformed into an awkward daytime restaurant turned nightclub. It became difficult to have a conversation with the person next to me, which was disappointing. On a positive note, I appreciated the convenient parking located at the back of the building, with plenty of spots available. For our meal, we kicked things off with the cheese nachos and Taquitos Dorados (potato), and we wrapped it up with some buffalo wings. The food was, unfortunately, just average overall. The nacho chips appeared to be freshly made, which was a nice touch, and the Taquitos Dorados were decent as well. However, none of the dishes really stood out to me.Overall, Kalaveras has potential, but the vibe shift from relaxed dining to a loud club made it less enjoyable. If you're looking for a chill happy hour, you might want to keep this in mind!

Tried a new (old established) Mexican restaurant ~ and glad we did. Food 4/5: We ordered birrio queso crispy/dorado tacos, carnitas soft tacos, rice and beans. The tacos come 3 to an order and were both very good. *The meat quality was very good. Their yellow salsa was spicy with a hint of mango. I can't put my finger on it, but the beans were odd. A little too salty, yet bland, and too thin ~ seemed watered down. And though the rice had a little bit of vegetables in it, it was very bland too.Service 4/5: Not quite as attentive as I would have liked; though knowledgeable, efficient, quick, accommodating, and reasonably friendly. Ambience 3-4/5: Kalavera's is a lively, active, colorful restaurant, and bar. I asked the waitress if they move tables away and create a dancing floor in the evening, because that's what it seemed like. She said that it's a family restaurant and that sometimes people dance near their tables, but they don't turn it into a full-blown bar. We had a big lovely booth and I was fine, but do note that it's definitely not a quiet place.Rate at 3.5, but will have to choose ~ so 3 for now. I want to go back and try their ceviche on a plate encircled incucumber slices. Looked refreshing.

Great Happy Hour, Taco Tuesday, and ambiance if you want a party!Would be a really fun place for a birthday party or bachelorette party type vibe. They have a ton of great specials. People walking around selling shots and special drinks on their menu.If you're looking for a quiet dinner and to talk, this is probably not the place though!

Authentic Mexican place near CHOC, sort of mid-town Orange. It's a cool spot for the younger crowd, but families were clearly welcome. It's got kind of a neon/blacklight thing going on, so expect that to be your lighting. Lots of Mexican music blasting on the TVs and speakers, which was a nice touch. The service was extremely on-point, they were constantly checking on us. The food itself was pretty typical fare, but it was tasty and well-priced. There are a ton of Mexican restaurants in the area, but this one was still a standout.

Oh my goodness. This is the only places where I could eat the beans because I don't really like beans. The portion was great and the food was really good! Probably one of the best Mexican restaurant I've had. However, the wait was soooo long. We had to flagged down our servers so many times and our food took about 30-40 minutes to come out even though there were only 3 tables at the time.
