Walking in here feels like entering a little slice of Yemen (or so I imagine). Unfamiliar with what to try, I opted for the hrada fahsa, a traditional dish of shredded lamb and mashed potatoes served bubbling hot in a clay bowl with fresh tanoor bread. It comes very hot, so give it some time to cool. Goes great with the tanoor bread you can rip off and eat with your hands. Even when it's not boiling hot, the dish was still spicy with chopped jalapeño peppers amidst the tender shredded lamb. Delicious enough I've gotten it twice but now I want to branch out. Likewise, the Arabic coffee spiced with cardamon and served with dates comes piping hot. I blew out the candle they place under the beautiful silver dallah (traditional coffee pot) because it didn't need any help staying warm. Although no milk or sugar is added, this coffee tastes lightly sweet and has an herbal fragrance that could make you think you're drinking tea.For dessert, a slice of sabaya with a side of honey to dip it in or drip on top is a decadent treat. Flaky yet soft, this pastry is reminiscent of baklava but in my opinion even better. Despite not knowing what I'm doing, it's hard to go wrong on a menu with options as consistently flavorful and honed over centuries as these traditional recipes are. The service is kind although often busy, so you might need to flag them down. Since it's a small space, it's not hard to get their attention. This is one house my stomach wouldn't mind making a home.

Yesterday was our first time visiting House of Mandi, and it might also be our last. We never even had the chance to try the food because no one bothered to check on us, let alone take our order. The place was not fully packed. We did get a table, as one of the staff members let us sit there, but that was the only interaction we had with them.We sat down and waited for about 15 minutes, trying to get their attention because we were getting hungry and ready to order, but to no avail. It looks like they need to hire more staff to wait tables and improve their customer service. In the end, we decided to leave and go somewhere else. I really wanted to try that place because the food looks so good, but I don't know if I'd go back.

FoodChicken mandi - Tender but dry dish. 3/5Fish mova - Similar to chicken dish. Decent flavor. 3.5/5Mushakal forn - A fresh dish with crispy fries but nothing great. 3/5Chapati- Decent. A nice flavor but skippable. 3/5Saffron cake - Very pleasant and enjoyable. Sweet, but not overwhelming. 4.5/5Gahwa - A solid coffee. 4/5 Service4/5Atmosphere4/5A nice homestyle restaurant but I expected more from how crowded and expensive it was. The food was a bit bland. Perhaps some hot sauce would help but I was not given any. May go back to try the Mutabbal. Dessert was pleasant.

Yemeni food - need I say more? You can sit down, traditional Yemeni/Levantine/Arab/Asian-style on cushions on the floor or on chairs/booths if you prefer, but remember that it's all family-style dining, so what you get, you share with everyone! The portions are intentionally large to share. The service was good - fast, fresh, and polite. And for the quantity of food we get, they truly do bring it out quickly.Get the Mandi lamb head is delicious! You have to pick at the lamb head but I enjoyed that. Its was filling for me and the price is great. I'm surprised its not ordered more! What I've gotten here:- Fattoush فتوش : Romaine lettuce, onion, tomatoes, parsley, cucumbers, toasted bread. $6.99- Shafot شفوت یمني: Spicy yogurt, cucumbers, green onion, fresh bread, and spicy Zahawiq. $9.99- Batata harra بطاطه حارة: A fresh potatoes cut in cubes with a homemade Yemeni spices. $13.99- Mandi lamb (half head) مندي نص رأس خروف: A Hadhramaut, Yemeni traditional dish. A very Roasted young fresh lamb Head. (Served over Mandi rice, comes with Yemeni sauce and Yogurt.)- Meat burma بورمه لحم مع المرق: A traditional dish from Hudaydah city in Yemen, cooking A Fresh lamb meat and soup that cooked with Stew vegetables until fall-cooked in the tradition Yemeni plate that made of a carved stone. Served with rice and Two sauces. $34.99- Mandi chicken مندي دجاج: A traditional dish from Hadhramaut city in Yemen. A very Roasted young fresh chicken with Yemeni Spices cooked underneath oven. (Served over Mandi rice, comes with Yemeni sauce and Yogurt.)$25.99- Madhbi- Grilled Lamb لحم مظبي على الحجر: A traditional dish from Hadhramaut city in Yemen. A very young fresh lamb with particular Yemeni spices grilled on a scorching stone until the fall off the bone lamb is ultra-tender. (Served over Mandi rice, comes with Yemeni sauce and Yogurt.) $34.99You cannot - and I cannot emphasise that enough -, absolutely cannot go wrong with anything you order here. Get a little a salad, an appetizer, and lunch plate, and you're all set for a deliciously appetizing meal that will feel equal parts homey and filling. My absolute favourites are the meat burma and madi lamb.Located in a strip mall in Little Arabia, you have so many restaurants to choose from, by Yemenis will always have a special place in my heart for a lot of reasons. Please go support them, and if you're on the West side of LA, go to their West LA location! This place has both indoor seating and floor seat and outdoor patio area for many choices of seating. The ambiance is a combination of family get-together, celebrations, dates, and social hang-outs.The menu is on the QR and someone will be by to take your order.Parking has been relatively easily for me on the many occassions I have been here, but it can get busy during Ramadan or other festivals for obvious reasons.

Definitely great food and service. Lamb and chicken Mandi was super delicious and tasty and the meat just falls off right off the bone. Ambiance wasn't bad has that authentic Yemen feel to it and our servers were very good and responsive in offering suggestions for first timers. Only thing was the drinks were way expensive I think $3 for a little water bottle . But food was good.
