Texas barbecue heaven! We went there because of its reputation, and although we were a bit skeptical, we actually waited in line for one hour and twenty minutes to get a taste. But the moment the meat hit our mouths, it was truly delicious. The most recommended is Tri Tip, followed by char siu. The least recommended is brisket, as it felt too ordinary and the meat wasn't very tender. As for ribs, next time I want to try pork ribs instead; the beef was a bit too greasy but still tasty. The side dishes were also very delicious, much better than we expected, and we finished every last bit of them. The food is more than enough for two people. I would recommend this place to everyone. We ordered:0.5 lb tri tip1.8 lbs beef rib0.5 lb brisket 0.3 lb char suiPotato Salad (small)Banana pudding bread (small)Total includes tax and tip: $166

Made the trip down to this BBQ place after having it bookmarked for awhile. Have no regrets and so happy to have gone - I miss it already! We came on a Saturday before opening time around 10:40. There was already a long line waiting for it to be open. Took about an hour to order so we had a lot of time to think about what we wanted to try. Everything here sounds good so it was definitely hard to pick, but ended up getting char siu, beef ribs, brisket and some sides. Everything was delicious and I'd recommend all of the cuts I got.My favorite definitely had to be the beef rib. It's HUGE, juicy and very tender. Melts in your mouth with that meaty flavor - so good! It's definitely a heavy meal but I think it's totally worth it.As you order, you see them weighing the meats in front of you so you can clearly see they're not skipping out on anything. Sometimes if it's over what you anticipated they will also ask you if it's good or not. Service is great, everyone is cheerful and seem to enjoy what they're doing.I've tried a few other BBQ joints in OC area and I'd say Heritage BBQ is the one place I hope to come back. Parking may be tough but if you know the area you'll be able to find some parking structures nearby. Worth the wait and drive, highly recommend!

I've been here so many times and I'm finally writing a review! Weekend lines are long so be prepared to wait. No need to hog tables ... I've never had issue with seating despite a line. Dog friendly outdoor seating. Parking is free on the street if you can find and there is a structure nearby that charges a minimal fee. Get the brisket for sure. It's super tender and flavorful. We've tried the other meats but the brisket is the winner. NOTE: I felt like the beef rib isn't worth the price. Sides: Max and cheese is our fav. I would not recommend the chili. Solid spot for BBQ in the area. Would recommend for you to try.

What an amazing spot. The line today wasn't bad, maybe a 10 minute wait. The service was super friendly and the atmosphere was great. Good music, friendly people, and ice cold beer. The food is awesome. Everything we sampled was perfect and I love the spicy BBQ sauce. This will def be a regular stop next time we are in town.

Honestly, I was not that impressed with this place. I wanted to really like it but I just couldn't get into it for several reason. The wait was exactly an hour long which we expected and was told ahead of time but I don't think the food was worth the wait in the end. You can order drinks in line as you wait but if it's a sunny day, be prepared to be under the hot sun (although there are some umbrellas for shade in line). It would also have been an hour to order for take-away so we chose to wait in line and dine-in. For meats, we ordered Pork Spare Ribs, Tri-Tip, and Char Siu Pork Belly. I did not love any of these if I am being honest. I was hoping for the meat to be soft and fall off the bones for the spare ribs and it felt like all of the meat dishes leaned toward being more dry.For the sides, we ordered the chips and queso, brisket beans (two sizing options available), spicy cucumbers (garlic soy marinade), jalapeno cheddar cornbread (muffin sized), and parker house rolls. I thought all these sides were just ok. I would not recommend the spicy cucumbers- I thought the marinade was a bit too acidic for my liking although my friend loved it. The one side we all collectively agreed on that was the best was the parker house rolls so make sure to get this if you are there!Lastly, we ordered the banana pudding for dessert and I will say that this one was the fan favorite of our group. It was so creamy and delicious with fresh banana chunks and was the best part of the meal. All in all, we spent about $200~ on this meal since it's about $20/half a pound of meat or $36/lb for the spare ribs which is very pricey~ to me.*Special shoutout to the staff there- our waitress was very patient and took the time to make sure we knew what we were ordering and guided us through the menu and didn't rush us. She also was the one to recommend the house roll and banana pudding which ended up being our favorites! So 10/10 for service!

The first time we ever came here was at 1pm on a weekend and they were all sold out. It was such a bummer so we came right before opening this time and waited maybe 45 minutes. They weigh the meats in front of you and you're able to adjust it if it looked smaller/bigger than what you expected. You can also ask for # of pieces instead of weight if you're unsure. The brisket is fatty which I surprisingly liked and it had so much flavor. The pork ribs fell right off the bone and were my favorite. The char siu and tri tip were also great, I don't think I'd get the charsiu again though. The sausage was really dry and disappointing and was mostly untouched. The Mac n cheese was my favorite, it was so creamy and flavorful! Everything we ordered was about $80(not including the beer In line)

Back here again for a visit. Line moves along at a fair pace, the wait is not too bad unless it is deep into the block. But come on a weekday and you'll be fine. I noticed they took down the shade covers for the winter. I guess that works, but I'd prefer to have more shade still. It's not always that cold in the winter here. Today our pulled pork sandwiches were served generously and the flavor was all there. It seemed better than last time. We tried the brisket beans as a side-we only ordered one side as we haven't been that impressed in the past-and one main like the pulled pork sandwich is usually plenty. It says burnt ends in there and there were some good tasty pieces. But I still have not been impressed by any of the sides-they always seem just a bit under seasoned for my buds. Felt the same about the beans today.I would give it five stars if the sides were as good as the mains, but that just hasn't been the case in 4 visits so far. But I will keep coming back for the barbeque.

We ordered over $150 in bbq yesterday. We heard this spot was James Beard rated so we were eager to try. Sadly, we were disappointed. We ordered two pounds of brisket for $80. Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't brisket be fork tender and juicy? It was not, it was instead rather chewy and dry. The side dishes were pedestrian...the mac and cheese was in a watery puddle of cheese sauce and the potato salad was minced so fine, it was more like cold mashed potatoes. With all the hype and at this price point, we were expecting more.

Loved the vibe here, the food was all so tasty! We got a big platter and shared it amongst 4 adults and a toddler. We got the beef ribs (ginormous!!!), Mac and cheese, pork belly, pork sausage, the baked beans and the peach cobbler. Almost everything was so tasty, including the pickles that accompanied the plate. I think my group's consensus was that we were a tad bit disappointed in the baked beans. They looked amazing but the flavor was a lot more savory that we all expected-- I think we all were hoping for just a touch of sweetness in them. We gathered in line almost an hour before they opened and there was already a small line forming but once the line started moving we didn't have to wait too long. The restrooms were clean and easy to get to. One weird thing is that you order drinks from a separate counter than the food so if you're unlucky, there could be a line for that too after you've ordered food. The crammed as many tables as possible in there and we ended up sharing a table with a couple, but once the tables are gone you've got to be ready to scout out who will be leaving soon after! All in all, it was good and I'd try more things on the menu!

I had to update this to be a 5 star. We came here for new years and the whole process was wonderful. We came here 45 min early just to be the last one getting the char siu! The pork belly, char siu, is the best thing ever. We had a little bit of everything, including the potato salad and mac and cheese side. We ordered extra to bring home as well. I feel like the food got better compared to last time. The staff were all super kind. They even helped us to kick people out of the bench tables. Just a note, you cannot just hold tables without a number. The staff will kick you out. There was a snarky customer who kept saying that they were at the tables first, but I'm super glad the staff here helped to get them out.
