Came here on a Saturday around 6pm as a party of 4. They have a lot of cute decorations outside as well as. A pot of goose plushies. The seating areas are also very large and themed as well. Each table has a large pot area in the middle. We got the pork rib, corn, and bean. We added frozen tofu, corn buns, and wide vermicelli. We also ordered the marinated big bones which had a lot of bone marrow in it as well as the cold noodles which was super chewy with a lot of sesame flavor. Those dishes came out almost instantly along with the pot. Those two dishes were enough to keep us over until 14 minutes later when the big pot was ready to eat. The corn buns were super crispy on the bottom and fluffy inside. The shovel of chicken cartilage took a while to come out, almost when we were finished eating. It was super light and crispy and had a slight kick due to the chili oil. Lastly we ordered a pear soup as dessert. We ordered it hot and it had white fungus as well as goji, some dried hawthorne, along with the whole asian pear. As you eat it, it warms up on the bottom and becomes so warm and comforting. The servers were super attentive throughout and even gave us a free cola and 3 beijing yogurts. Overall this place was like stepping into china, from the cuisine to the decorations. A great place to eat some warm and authentic food on a cold winter day.

I don't really see the hype to be honest. The concept is def something I haven't really seen before but it feels a lil gimmicky. I'm all for the gimmicks but the food is honestly nothing special. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't taste bad but it's nothing id really return for.How the concept works is that you get a giant wok in the middle of the table so you chose one pre-set option which are all basically stews. From there you can add "toppings". There are also other cooked dishes you can order that are not part of the "pot". I've seen some dry pot restaurants before but they are mainly just dry mala versions of hotpot. I wouldn't consider them stews so that's the main difference here. The issue also is the meal starts getting a bit one dimensional cause you're pretty much eating just the stew. Sure there's the other dishes that aren't part of the pot but those are just the supporting cast. So you're kinda stuck with just one flavor.Overall, I just felt everything was pretty mid but if you're looking for something a lil different it's not bad to try

This restaurant is famously known for authentic Northeastern cuisine. Interior is full of furnishings and arrangements with Northeastern farmhouse atmosphere. The tables and chairs are also specially set up sitting around the big pot in the center of the dining table. In addition to Northeastern iron pot, there are also a variety of Northeastern home-cooked and cold dishes on the menu. We came here to eat iron pot stewed fish but unfortunately they don't offer fish anymore so we tried a few other dishes on the menu. Food is authentic and delicious. Server was nice and attentive. Definitely will try their other stewed pots next time. The taste is quite good and the boss's service is also very good. We were three men and he told us that the portion for two was enough. I wanted to order two pancakes but the boss didn't allow me and said four was enough. It turned out that the boss was right. Highly recommended!

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for months now ever since it popped up on my Instagram feed. It's one of the most unique dining experiences I've had in a while. The restaurant specializes in northeastern Chinese cuisine with iron wok stews. I think this is the only restaurant in LA that offers this dish.Decor is pretty traditional Chinese with carriages outside and traditional Chinese chairs, liquor jugs, lanterns, and iron woks at every table. Service is attentive and fast. I appreciate the effort they put into each table to ensure every wok cooks to perfection by putting timers at every table.Chicken stew with mushrooms 5/5: definitely the star of the night. The stew is cooked in the iron wok in front of you and please order the cornmeal pancakes. Note that it does not come with the stew so you do need to order it on the side. The pancakes are made and cooked in front of you on the wok as well. It does take 15 minutes for the entire thing to cook so make sure to order some other dishes to feast on while you wait. We ordered the 4 person portion and had a LOT of leftovers between then 5 of us. I would order the 2 person portion in the future to try some of their other dishes! Shovel stir fry lamb 10/5: comes out on an actual shovel! Lamb is super tender and flavorful. The cumin really comes through and is so well seasoned. This was probably my favorite of the meal.5 vegetables with noodle 5/5: lots of vegetables and glass noodles in a peanut sauce. It's a little different than the normally sweet peanut sauces I'm used to but the added sour blends so well with the peanut sauce. Definitely a favorite of the table! Will definitely need to come back to try all of the other stews! Definitely check it out if you haven't already!

There are so many interesting dishes, but the most famous ones are those cooked in the big pot. The goose and the pork ribs stewed were soft and tasted amazing. The appetizer was both appealing in looks and appetizing. The clams were plump and tasty. This is a great place for gathering of friends and families.

Unique dining experience for sure! I kept getting Instagram ads for this restaurant and couldn't help wanting to go here because of the cute geese I keep seeing. Apparently if you follow them on WeChat or join their rewards program, you can get special deals, discounts, and some of their cute geese merch. When we went on July 4th Saturday, it was a busy restaurant, but our friend go there earlier than us and was able to reserve a spot for 6 and it was in one of their neat booth seating with interesting traditional art all around. The atmosphere was quite loud and lively. You can easily call over their staff for different reasons (water, service, check, etc.) with the call button. Although we wanted to try the goose stew, it was a bit pricier than our range and we opted for something that would be easier for the group to consume. Alas, we also forgot to order the cornbread that is cooked on the side of the hotpot, but I guess it was alright as we were quite full from what we ordered that night. We got the: 1) Hawthorne Soda: -I haven't seen this before and wanted to try it out, but I'm sure you can get this at any Chinese grocery market. -Tastes exactly like Haw flakes but in a soda form, quite nostalgic. 2) Fried Pork with Sweet and Sour Sauce: -Probably my FAVORITE iteration of fried pork with sweet and sour sauce. Most of the times when I've had this dish before the sauce was way too thick and syrupy but this version has a lighter version of the sauce and the exterior was thin and nicely crisp. There's a slight chewiness to the breading too, making it super yummy. -Would definitely go here just to get this again. 3) Shovel Stir Fry Lamb: -This ACTUALLY comes out in a shovel, which is neat for photos. -Deliciously seasoned chunks of lamb that's nice and moist and tender. -Came with a good amount of stir fried bell pepper as well. -Tasted great with the extra rice we got too. 4) Five Vegetable and Cold Noodle: -Another hit with our table. -Noodles were flat and had a nice chewy texture to them that absorbed the peanut butter sauce well. -Lots of julienned chopped veggies and scrambled egg as well. -The waiter mixed it for us too. -Perfect for a hot summer day. 5) Pickled Cabbage Stewed with Pork: -For 6 people we got the serving for 2 people and it was enough to feed all of us, especially with everything else that we ordered beforehand. -The stew comes with Chinese sauerkraut, pork rib, pork belly, and frozen tofu. -They put a timer on your table and it'll go off when it's ready to eat, just know that it's going to be SUPER hot.-Lots of tofu, cabbage, and pork belly within, along with bone in meat too. I enjoyed the pork belly and the pickled taste is nice and sour, aka refreshing with everything else we ordered. -We ordered an extra helping of rice to balance out everything that we ordered. -It was enough for 2 bowls of stew, meat, and tofu for each person, with some of our table clearing out the rest of the stew. Wouldn't mind stopping here again!

Tried this place and it's really good! We got the 2 person choice of the chicken stewed with mushrooms, with added pancakes and Chinese yams. We also got cucumber and black fungus salad. The food was great. The chicken was soft and tender. The yams were great as well. The pancakes need some of the sauce for flavor but still overall great. The cucumber and black fungus salad had lots of garlic but really good. Definitely a different way of making the salad dish and I liked it. The vibe is very Chinese traditional in the sense of the decor, interior design. It's a really nice touch. The workers help you with the food and time the food to cook for you. They were also very attentive and checks on table from time to time. Overall, a great place to go and lots of leftovers too!

Checked out happy valley village when we visited LA for a weekend and this was the meal that I had looked forward to for months! The inside of the restaurant mirrored northern China back in the days and the goose plushies all over had me gushing the whole time. It was very family friendly and we saw lots of private sections for big parties. Originally wanted to get the stewed goose but unfortunately it was all sold out so we opted for the mushroom chicken instead. The mushroomChicken was pretty good and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole big metal pot cooking process. Service was also decent! Would recommend checking this place out if you're into northern Chinese food!
