What:A sushi hand roll restaurant that's tucked inside a Japanese grocery store called Tokyo Central. (It's located near the exit.)Who:This place is for anyone who enjoys sushi, particularly in hand roll form. Plus, the cooks were all friendly. When:Last I checked, it's open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. with last call at 7:45 p.m. Not convenient if you prefer to have a late evening dinner, but otherwise doable if you plan ahead. Why:Go here if 1) you want tasty hand rolls for a decent price, or 2) you want to order hand rolls to-go and get some grocery shopping done at the same time.Setting:It's essentially a sushi bar with roughly 10 seats, all at the counter. There are tables and chairs beyond the counter, but thats technically not a part of the restaurant and meant for people who buy food from the grocery store. It's otherwise clean and well kept.Food:They offer hand roll sets and a la carte. I chose the hybrid approach, ordering the 4-piece set and a couple a la carte. Every roll (though a little small) was delicious!Drawbacks:1) Our cook was just a tad slow, and we were a little annoyed when he made rolls for two patrons who arrived after us. But after the first round of rolls, he got into a rhythm and the was able to serve both us and the other group more evenly and quickly. 2) With only 10 seats at the counter and limited operating hours, it's not ideal for large groups or spontaneous visits.Overall:The two quibbles I had were quickly outweighed by the tastiness of the food and the affordability (especially when considering the quality of seafood). My true rating is 4.5 out of 5, but since Yelp doesn't allow half stars, I'll round up!If you're looking for an unpretentious but pleasant hand roll experience, look no further than the Hand Roll Factory.

I have ordered here like 10 times to go and the one time I asked a client to meet me here so we can dine in, the lady made us do to go because I had my computer. There were no patrons at the bar and she said with my computer if the bar fills up we would be bumping elbows. I am tiny and my associate is tiny, thin Asians. But the person said because I had just computer we couldn't sit at the bar!I'm never coming back here. The fact that she didn't even give us a choice and forced us to get togo. I've met people at Rol and at Kazunori in Westwood with my computer to show them things and have never had an issue. When we left the bar only had 4 people at it. It wasn't even packed.I was at ohshima's and ootoro last week at the sushi bar with my computer with no issues too. It was really awkward. It left an overall bad taste in my mouth, as she treated us differently.

I got the 5 piece set menu and loved every piece. The fish was so fresh and they put such large pieces into the handroll. The star is the rice which they import from elsewhere and is soaked in a special broth. I could definitely taste the difference. They are also a no tip establishment. We got lucky and were able to be seated immediately at 6 on a Tuesday. But right after we got seated a large wait formed since there are only 8 seats. You can order to go and eat at the tables behind the bar if you don't want to wait. Service was alright. The girl working there was super sweet but the guy did not smile at all and we were sitting in front of him the whole time so that wasn't ideal but only a minor complaint. I would definitely come back here as opposed to kazunori or origami !

As someone who loves handrolls but hates the drive to Kazunori, we were so happy to find a more local handroll spot in the OC. This casual handroll spot is located inside the Tokyo Central market. Parking was very easy, and we simply walked around the market while waiting for a table. They were only seating people at the bar, so there were a total of maybe 10 seats available. We liked how casual the seating and experience was. Prices were also more affordable than at Kazunori. They have set menu options of 3, 4, and 5 handrolls, but we opted for a la carte. We loved the tuna options and the avocado handroll. The fish tasted fresh and delicious. We will definitely be coming back!

What a gem without making the drive to kazunori! So fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. Happened upon this spot when I was headed to the market. Definitely coming back for dine in. The lady behind the counter was super nice and fast too

I was initially impressed by Hand Roll Factory in Yorba Linda. The quality of the fish was great, and the prices felt like a solid deal for what you got. However, after coming back a couple more times, I noticed a drop in portion sizes, especially with the fish. It seemed like they started skimping, which was disappointing after my first experience. The rolls are still tasty, but with smaller portions, it doesn't feel like the same value. I hope they bring back the generous servings that got me hooked in the first place! There seems to be bar seating only, which gives it a cozy, intimate feel. The restaurant is located inside Tokyo Central, a Japanese grocery store, so there's a nice convenience factor. I actually enjoyed perusing the aisles while waiting for a seat to clear up; it added a fun touch to the experience.

Tucked away inside Tokyo Central is a cozy hand roll shop. Limited seating available at their bar, but you can order togo and dine in the sit-down dining space. It was my first time here and I wasn't totally sure how it worked. My partner and I settled on the 4 piece set hand roll which comes with bluefin tuna, yellowtail, salmon, and crab. The person taking our order was visibly upset as I changed my order a few times, but perhaps that's just the culture? It was $19 for 4 hand rolls, and while it was tasty, I'm not sure if it was worth the price tag considering the handrolls made by Tokyo Central cost less and are quicker to get. For 2 people, I think we spent almost $50 for 8 handrolls. It looks like they also do sake tasting here so that's really cool!

The Hand Roll Factory Is located inside of Tokyo Central (Japanese grocery store located on the corner of Imperial Hwy and Lemon). We had a hard time finding its location within the store and ended up having to be directed to it. SO, once you've entered the store, go to your left and you'll see it kinda tucked into the corner. Seating is limited to 8 chairs at the sushi bar. You could opt to order "to go" and eat in Tokyo Central's general eating/seating area just a mere few steps away. With the limited seating, the dine in experience allows for more one on one interaction with the sushi chefs. The menu is simple and limited. Only 12 choices, which also includes a couple veggie options. The rolls are good, but there is definitely a higher ratio of rice to fish. They prepare the rolls in intervals, giving you one at a time and waiting to prepare and present the next roll once you've finished the one set before you. This is definitely a different serving style than other sushi places, which tend to bring many dishes out at once. If you're in a time crunch, this is bad. But if you have time to relax, enjoy, and dine instead of scarf it down, this is actually a nice change of pace. Tonight there were 2 people manning the place. Both were friendly and interacted well with each other and their customers. We would come back and would prefer to sit at the sushi bar like we did today.

It is located at the Tokyo Central market. No tipping is allowed here. The menu options were to order by piece or by set, and I went for the six hand rolls set. I placed my order and was given a pager while I got some grocery shopping completed. Within fifteen minutes, my pager alerted me that my order was ready for pickup.I like the location since I was able to get some grocery shopping completed and get a healthy lunch knocked out.I recommend this eatery and I will definitely return again.

Solid spot inside Tokyo Central!Eating area is clean and spacious. The seating area for the restaurant is bar only but the table behind is open seating for anyone shopping and eating at Tokyo Central. Polite staff helped explain few items they had and preparation was quick. Price is fair and taste is good! I got 4 rolls for $22.
