Garlic and Chives was really good the first time I went, however, it seems that they have a problem with inconsistency. I've noticed that the most recent times I've come here, their quality has diminished. The food is not as flavorful as it used to be, with most dishes coming out extremely bland, noodles being overly cooked, amongst other issues. Their service also is not the greatest, it often take a long time to get a server's attention, and once you finally do, it takes a long time to get what you asked for. Personally, I was a bit disappointed with the most recent visits. The first experience set the bar so high that I was hoping they would maintain consistency or at least come close, but it seems that they valued their taste and menu when they first opened, and have only continued to go downhill since then. I still hold out hope that one day they will recover the flavors they delivered in the beginning, because when it was good, it was GOOD.

A M A Z I N G. I'm pleasantly wow'd. This was a recommended place that I've been meaning to try for awhile and we were stunned. It's super cute inside and the service was A+. The attention to detail from the decoration to the tables with napkins and water given right away to super friendly staff waiting on you was awesome. They all speak both Vietnamese and English. Now for the food - honestly I loved everything we got: honey walnut shrimp was deliciously crispy and light, Bok Choy had amazing seasoning, both snail dishes with coconut and lemongrass were nice and juicy, the different bún bò dishes were also plated so beautifully with fresh dishes. The ginger lobster is $34/lb and we paid the extra $10 for the garlic noodles which were good and SPICY. I'll admit the ginger lobster wasn't the best I've ever had but still good nonetheless. However please note rice is an additional $3/bowl. Overall, if you're looking for a nicer place for a more upscale classy feel with prices that aren't absurdly expensive, this is the place. The ambiance elevates the meal so I'd def only recommend here if you're eating in. It's definitely not a takeout place or a cheap food court style meal (which don't get me wrong, those have their own charm!). I can't comment on the other dishes that people have noted like bun bo hue or the clay pots since we didn't try it, but I saw other tables get them and they smelled delicious and we could hear them sizzling.

This restaurant has definitely gone downhill. Some things are still as good as ever like the salmon roll and the pomelo salad. The stir fried cellophane noodle with shrimp is just embarrassing, tasteless in both the noodle and the shrimp. We ordered the crispy fish and mango and it was meh. The whole fish is simply battered and deep fried. They give so little sauce that it doesn't begin to cover one side of the fish, let alone the other. The sauce was very sweet and lacked acidity. The fish did come with any aromatics which was unusual for a Vietnamese restaurant, especially one that is named Garlic & Chives. It's a nice space and parking is plentiful. Probably the last time we are going there.

We came in on a Saturday, table for 5 and only had to wait 5 minutes. We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. Fried green beans with garlic, clams in basil sauce, French fries were crispy and thick, beef chow fun, and pomelo salad is a must. The thing we probably wouldn't order again is the hanoi bun cha, it was just ok. Must try pomelo salad and green beans! Service was quick and kind. We received our first dish within 5 minutes

I've been here before and was very pleased with the food. I wanted my family to try the food since they had come in from out of town. I ordered the deep fried salmon, tooth pick lamb, and clay pot catfish to go. I understand that it's a to go order so it obviously won't come in a clay pot, but one piece of catfish and a container of crispy rice doesn't make sense to be $17. Picking up my order was also "different". Most places will ask for my name or an order confirmation email. A worker here asked me for my name, the items I ordered in detail, and a confirmation email. I thought that was a bit overkill. I'd like to come back to dine in person again, but I'm not sure it's worth it. We'll see since I do typically enjoy the salmon belly! Maybe I'll try a different location.

Michelin Guide recognized for multiple years in the past. I'm missing something here because my dining experience was not as expected given the high ratings. Upon entering, we noticed an extremely strong, fishy smell, like fish sauce. Surprisingly, there was no wait on a Saturday night. We were promptly seated and order taken within a timely manner. Food arrived to the table fairly quick, too. Our meal consisted of:*Salmon belly chien gion/deep fried salmon belly: ok*Muc lan bot/deep fried calamari: too oily, low quality*Rau cai be cuon with tom, thit: refreshing, different take on a goi cuon but without the noodles or spring roll wrap*Canh cai chua suon/pickled mustard greens soup with pork bones: too sweet, meat questionable*Rau muong xao oc huong/stir fried ong choy with sea snails: small portion, too sweet, sea snails too tough and hardNone of the entrees came with white rice. It was an additional $3 per bowl. We didn't enjoy our meal at all. It was one of the most disappointing meals we've had.

It was my first time visiting this location. We came in for a late weekday lunch around 2pm. There was no wait and the host sat us immediately. My first impressions were positive; it was nicely decorated and clean. We ordered the seafood mix hotpot. It was a large portions good for 2-3 people. It had a great Tom yum flavor broth came with a large amount of veggies and a seafood variety. The service was excellent; multiple servers came around asking if we needed anything, refilled our waters and everyone had such a positive and kind service. I would absolutely come back again and I'm looking forward to trying other dishes.

Garlic and Chives is a great place to introduce your non-Vietnamese friends to some yummy Vietnamese food that's not pho! The toothpick lamb is the perfect shared appetizer to munch on while waiting for your entrees. It's juicy, smokey, and the perfect amount of spice. Recently when I come here I've been getting their clay pot rice and salmon! So yummy! The rice is perfectly crispy and the dish stays warm for a while for the slow eaters (me hehe). The most recent time I came, I was a little let down by the service. My friends had ordered a pork chop dish, which she was looking forward to, 20-30 minutes after ordering (after 3 of our other entree dishes had already come out), a server let us know they are out of pork chops and couldn't make the requested dish. My friends and I are pretty patient and excited to try other stuff on the menu so it wasn't a BIG deal but it was definitely felt weird that we were notified after most of our other food was already out :// Other than this I would say the food is a solid 4.5/5 stars and a great introduction to variety in Vietnamese cuisine! Just wish the servers knew sooner :)

We were a group of 4 people and came in the late afternoon around 3pm. we ordered a few appetizers and dishes to share family style. The lamb skewers were not too bad normally I'm sensitive to the smell of lamb meat, but this one was cooked nicely. The spring rolls tasted really good and we made fresh. we really enjoyed the fried fillets on salad appetizer. Everyone really like that one. They also ordered a bun bo hue and rice dish. The bun bo hue noodle soup was pretty good. They give a good portion of meat and decent portion of noodles. The soup was flavorful and just right for my taste. The rice dish was fish was good and a little spicy. Overall, really good experience the waitresses were very nice and friendly there and came by to check on us. Definitely recommend coming here and giving the Asian fusion dishes a try. even though Asian fusion has to be a little bit on the price your side still worth a try.
