I'm writing this as my family and I drive home because I couldn't wait to share our wonderful experience.First and foremost, the food was incredible. We ordered a selection of fish à la carte along with a couple of appetizers, and every bite was outstanding. Our favorite was the Grilled Miso Glazed Fish (Saikyouyaki)-- so good!A special thank you to Daisuke, who was both our server and chef. He was kind, witty, and funny, making our meal even more memorable. He also shared some delicious details about the preparation process, including how the Miso Glazed Fish are prepared overnight and that the mackerel we enjoyed had been imported from Japan just the day before. The ambiance was bright, open, and relaxing. The menu stays true to traditional Japanese cuisine, allowing the natural flavors of the ingredients to shine rather than overwhelming them with excessive sauces or seasonings! We truly appreciated the meticulous care put into each dish. And as a bonus--parking is free! We'll definitely be back to try the omakase next time!

For $250 pp i would say i expected better and more unique fishes. The cuts were pretty thin so doesn't allow you to really taste it like nozawa bar and other sushi restaurants. Comparably it doesn't stand out but the fish tasted good.We came on the Thursday before valentine's day and the hubs bought out the restaurant! Jk! I really liked our sushi chef. He was fun, knowledgeable, and i just enjoyed his company.21 dishes with a few notable standouts 1. Sashimi with assorted asian veggies2. Oyster3. Red snapper4. Shrimp tempura5. Wild halibut6. Ocean trouts with kelp7. Yellowtail belly8. Kinmedai golden eye snapper9. Striped jack with fresh ginger 10. 4000 japanese grouper11. engawa halibut12. Japanese wagyu 3 ways - really liked this!13. Bluefin tuna from Mexico14. Saba- mackeral. U want it pink15. Live Dungeness crab 16. Fresh clam with the salt and yuzu 17. Eel18. Japanese bafun uni19. Tuna hand roll20. Red Miso soup21. Disorganized, Lacking Authenticity & ServiceFuji Omakase in Monterey Park was a massive disappointment, especially at $300 per person. While the food itself was decent, the overall experience was completely disorganized and lacked the authentic Japanese omakase experience they claim to offer. From the start, the service was a mess. We were seated, then suddenly moved to another table. The pacing of the meal was painfully slow--four dishes took nearly an hour, and there was no logical order to the service. Strangely, guests who arrived after us received their food first. The service itself was shockingly poor. No one asked about allergies, which is completely unacceptable for an omakase restaurant where diners are trusting the chef with a set menu. Worse, the servers simply placed dishes in front of us with no explanation beyond naming the type of fish. There was no mention of preparation, sourcing, or any details that would enhance the dining experience. For a restaurant at this price point, that level of service is unacceptable.Beyond that, the staff was inattentive and uncoordinated. No one checked on our drinks or water, and the only way to get any attention was to raise our hands or even shout. The supervisor was also working as a chef, which meant there was zero oversight, and the entire operation felt unorganized. To be fair, the restaurant was busy, but for an omakase place, this was a standard level of service they should be able to handle. Yet, they seemed completely overwhelmed and unprepared. If they struggle this much on a typical night, I can't imagine how they manage during peak hours.Adding to the disappointment, the restaurant completely ignored traditional Japanese hospitality. There were no customary greetings when entering or leaving, and the overall atmosphere lacked the politeness and attentiveness expected at an omakase restaurant.Honestly, Fuji Omakase should temporarily close and retrain their entire staff on basic customer service and Japanese dining etiquette. At $300 per person, diners deserve more than just "okay" sushi; they expect an elevated, authentic, and seamless experience. Fuji Omakase completely fails to deliver on that.If you only care about getting somewhat decent sushi and don't mind horrible service, zero communication, and a lack of authenticity, then maybe this place will work for you. Otherwise, skip it--there are far better omakase experiences elsewhere.

I don't usually post reviews this quickly, but this place blew my mind. I came here for lunch yesterday with my wife for her birthday. We sat at the counter and had their lunch Omakase for $100. The chef and the wait staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. They told us not to order anything a la carte because they were confident that the Omakase would've been enough to fill us up and they were not wrong.Every dish was precisely prepared for you. All the fish dishes were incredibly fresh and delicious. The hot dishes were also really good. They even gave us two ceramic plates as a gift because they knew it was my wife's birthday.I really hope they can hang around because there's such large turnover in the plaza. I would definitely keep coming back to support them. Five stars for me. Definitely recommend everyone to come before they get crowded.

A+ for Amazing Food, Ambiance, and Chefs - A Hidden Gem that recently opened in SGV! We had the Kaiseki Omakase menu, and it was hands down one of the best dining experiences I've ever had--even compared to the local Michelin-star sushi spots and high-end restaurants I've visited in Japan. We had a reservation, and they seated us right away with a warm welcome. The whole experience lasted about two hours, where we got to watch two chefs carefully prepare each dish with fresh, seasonal ingredients.Parking: Plenty of free parking in the back, even on weekends when we went--really convenient.Ambiance: Absolutely amazing! When we sat down at the bar for omakase that's they surprised us and opened the sliding doors that revealed big screens that played beautiful scenery with cute animals from Japan. It created an immersive atmosphere while we enjoyed our meal. Service: Impeccable from start to finish. We were seated right away, asked about our allergies and preferences. The chefs were super friendly, speaking Japanese as they prepared each dish. Chef Yonta made the night extra special with his jokes, travel recommendations, and lively personality. He truly made the experience feel personal and unforgettable. The servers were quick to clear our tables between plates and made sure we had everything we needed. Kudos to the entire service team for maintaining amazing service and ambiance. Food: Really filling and such a treat! I was super hungry before the reservation and actually never expected I'd eat so much near the end that I couldn't take another bite. The course starts with variety of appetizers, including monkfish, fresh crab, lots of uni, and different seasonal fish and produce. The fish was super fresh and was sweet, gentle, and tender when paired with house made sauces. The Nigiri was served one piece at a time, and the chef even adjusted the rice portion based on our preference. Throughout the meal, we were treated to over 12 tasty courses, including fried dishes, sukiyaki, seared and grilled items, torched bites, and more. Watching the chef prepare the meal and even explaining the meal was a big treat. Overall, I highly recommend Fuji for a special occasion or just treating yourself to an authentic Japanese Omakase experience. They mentioned their menu changes seasonally based on the freshest ingredients, so I can't wait to come back again soon!

Accidentally stumbled upon a 5 star experience!! Beautifully decorated with so much attention to detail. The owner is incredibly nice and even makes his own plates, which added a unique and personal touch to the experience. He also shared a story about each dish, making the meal feel even more special and meaningful. Everything seemsed so carefully thought out. The food was delicious, and the red snapper stood out!!! it was so fresh and flavorful. I even ate the flowers on the plate, and they were surprisingly good! Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and presented, making the whole experience unforgettable. I'll definitely be back!

Came here for my birthday and I was pleasantly impressed. Staff were all friendly and sushi chef was very knowledgeable. He patiently introduced every course to us even some origin of the ingredients. My favorite is the hand roll and wagyu beef stew. Their fish was also super fresh tasting and smooth. Overall I think it's very worthy with the value and quality of the food. We will definitely come back!

Don't sleep on this place. My wife and I love Omakase, so when we see a new open up near us we had it on our list. The restaurant is very clean and the upgrades looks great. The staff was super friendly and quick to take our plates and refill our drinks. The important part the food, dollar for dollar is a steal for 100 for the lunch Omakase. We had a little over 15 plates mix of 10ish sushi pieces and 5 cooked plates. All the fish had great flavor and texture all a little different. The highlight has to be the spinny lobster that had a Japanese cracker crust it came with a great tomato bisque that you dip to cut the richness of the lobster. I can't wait to go again.

Food, service, ambiance, everything was perfect. Sushi was incredible, we had the omakase, and it was amazing for $100. Everything was delicate, delicious, and authentic, with slightly creative twists. Highly recommend. Please support them, they're great, and very entertaining while you have omakase.

1st time visit on Sunday for lunch. Newly decorated creates a mix of traditional sushi bar and modern feel. Service was good, but still lack experiences. Hope it will be better over time.Ordered Premium Assorted Sashimi Lunch which consists of Mozuku appetizer, Miso soup, 2 pieces each of halibut, albacore, salmon, tuna akami, and chutoro. 10 pieces total.Mozuku appetizer had pickled daikon on top of the seaweed then topped with sliced chicken, cucumber, radish, & carrots. Very special, delicious, and refreshing to start.Miso soup has wakame seaweed and tofu. The flavor is very well balanced. Not bland or salty.Rice was over cooked and mushy. This is the only disappointment of the meal.Assorted sashimi was excellent. All fish was fresh and the chef's skills created the perfect slices according to type of fish. Perfect taste texture for overall sashimi experience. At the end of the meal the restaurant gave each of us a hand crafted ceramic dish by Kyoto Kashima. Thank you . I will definitely return and try their other dishes and sushi bar omakase.
