Clyde’s Hot Chicken

Quality is amazing, pricy but worth it. Definitely one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had. The Mac and cheese was not so good but the sandwich, sauce and fries are great.

Another great location for this venerable franchise. As always, the tenders were screaming hot without being unbearable and super tender without the breading getting all soggy. The crust of the chicken was crunchy, seasoned, and delightful.The dining room was emptier compared to other locations I've been to. Maybe it was just a slow period or the area just doesn't see much foot traffic. But I still had a good sense that this would be a nice location to hang out with friends on another night. The staff was helpful as always, despite it being dead. They still managed to sound as if they cared rather than bored, which is a good sign.I don't know the next time I'll be in the area, but it's nice to know there's always Clyde's for a dining option.

Pretty good chicken sandwiches, though ordering it spicy is not good at all...they make it spicy with their spices but it's so overwhelming and not tasty at all. Best to go with medium spicy and add hot sauce to it. Waffle fries are good and tenders are good as well.

I get to the drive through and am informed that they are out of all fries and potato salad. A little disappointed I say ok. I order two chicken sandwiches and an order of wings. Then I'm told they are out of lettuce for the sandwiches and if coleslaw is ok. I said fine. I'm the only one in the drive thru, and it takes well over 12 minutes after paying to receive an order of two sandwiches and 6 piece wings. I get home open my sandwich and it is half burnt and bone dry. (Pic for reference). First and last time visitor to this establishment.

We stopped by Clyde's Hot Chicken to try something new. Luckily we were the only car in the drive-through as I didn't realize they prepare every order from scratch and it takes quite a while. The gal at the drive-through window was very friendly and after almost 15 minutes we finally got our food and were on our way.I ordered a Clyde's Original sandwich with Clyde's Original two-star heat level and a side of crinkle fries. The heat was a good level for me, not super hot but definitely some heat. The three star Hot As Cluck and four star 1930 heat levels are available if you really want to kick up a notch or two. The chicken itself tasted good, the bun was fresh and thick, and the dill pickles added a nice flavor contrast. The crinkle fries were very good and every fry had a great crispy texture. My girlfriend ordered the two piece chicken strips with Clyde's Original heat level, house sauce, and a side of waffle fries. She liked the strips and bread, and all of the waffle fries also had a great crispy texture. We also ordered a side of cole slaw which seemed bland to me and I didn't really taste it on my sandwich either.The food was good but the wait time takes it down a notch for me.

PRICE (3/5):The price caught me off guard! I thought this was Fast Food so I came here for a quick & cheap bite only to find out that 3 chicken strips (no drink or fries) cost $17! It is indeed expensive, but after I tried the food I think it's more justified. Just to put it into perspective, I was debating between Clyde's Chicken Strips (3 strips = $17) or Capital Noodles Bars (Filet Mignon Cubes = $17). FOOD (4/5):$17 for 3 CHICKEN STRIPS: only the strips! Yes, it's expensive. It's also the BEST seasonings on chicken strips I've had anywhere in this area. They are also the BIGGEST sized chicken strips I've ever seen. Each strip is about half the size of a chicken breast. They are also the FRESHEST chicken strips I've had. I really enjoyed these and I had HIGH expectations after the $17 price point. I'd come back if I'm craving deliciously fresh & tasty chicken strips and willing to pay this price. It's not an unreasonable price for a meal, but for a fast food chicken strips yes it is pricey. Pick your poison. But definitely try it at least once before you write it off because of the price because it might change your mind! DRIVE THRU (3/5):Usually when a place has a drive thru I assume it's Fast Food. This place is in between Fast Food and a casual dining spot. They make everything FRESH to order so it may take about 10 minutes or so. Worth it to me for fresh food! Kind of a weird drive thru entrance.SERVICE (5/5):It was my first time here, I went thru the drive-thru at a non-busy hour. The worker was so patient with me and answered all my questions since I was unfamiliar with the menu.

Paid $16.00 for 4 Chicken Strips that weighed a total of 10.5 ounces combined (photos attached). The strips weighed individually 1.4 oz, 2.1 oz, 3.1 oz, and 3.8 oz. Since each strip costs $4.00, I essentially paid $2.86 PER OUNCE of chicken for the smallest piece. For the whole 4 piece order, I paid $1.52 PER OUNCE OF CHICKEN!But they did include a generic slice of bread in the bottom of the box PLUS 3 whole slices of pickle so...

Used the drive thru and customer service was great. Very friendly and the food was freshly made and delicious! Will be back!

Delicious hot chicken joint located in a little shopping center. It is made to order so I suggest ordering ahead if you're going to pick up as there is a little bit of a wait. However it is definitely worth the wait. The menu isn't terribly expansive but what they make they make well. I had hoped the chicken would be a little crispier but the flavor was delicious. Just be careful about the levels of spice. Prices were reasonable and service was friendly. Highly recommend it if you're craving legit spicy food.

Our visit was a bit disappointing. We love the Fullerton location is our closest location. We love going there quite often. This location had a better ambiance and a more modern style. The service was subpar. Restaurant was big but not as clean as it should be for a grand reopening. We ordered a twelve bite combo and an eight pack. The bites didn't match what we have come to custom from Fullerton. The temperature was not as fresh as well. Since there is a location closer to home and we like that location. I don't see us traveling to Placentia location for subpar.
