"Came here for a coworker's going-away celebration and was impressed at the ambiance, service and food at this place. I had some wings, fries and melt and all of them were good and flavorful and my margarita was very refreshing. The price wasn't bad either. We played pool, darts, played some music on their digital jukebox and had a great time."
"We always hit Beach Ball and Blackie's when passing thru Balboa and Beach Ball is our fave! Wayyyy more welcoming and friendly! We'll be coming back thru tomorrow!"
"This place has cool beers, cool pool tables, and a cool manager. Cool bands come through to jam here all the time. The weather stays cool in this bar, and the vibe is a purely chill vibe for only the coolest fools and ladies, please.Oh what nights can be had at The Mission. The OC Hurricanes might be jamming their best, or a fatty taco vendor like Carnitas El Porky might be set up to slang spicy pork tacos or quesatacos for the night. Vanessa, the mgr., could be out checking on the venue, waving to some regulars, or making connections with local businesses. People could be dancing inside the bar all 'round the pool tables, or people could be dancing outdoors to the rare cumbias of Ritmo Santanero (a DJ group run by Rigo and Gary V.) The bar staff is professional, courteous, and friendly. They know how to mix, how to recommend, and how to pour. They manage the liquor service with tact; I always see many lightly buzzed, happy faces at the bar. A well run team. Credit to Vanessa and the bar staff. I have zero doubt as to why this place gets so much repeat business.5 stars for a Mission accomplished."
"Nice little dive bar. A lot of locals but they are all very welcoming. Have a touch tones juke box so you can play whatever music you want. Beer is cold and prices are reasonable. Mostly beer and wine only so if you're looking for hard alcohol not here. Friendly staff."
"It was my first time here. I had a good time. They have darts and pool tables. Bartenders were cool. Nice crowd. My only gripe was the music is too low, so you can't hear the music you pay to hear"
"Great live music Cheap drinks, and the bands are always great . Especially Stanley. You could never go wrong having a night out at the Fling."
"The moles were super tasty & delicious!!! They weren't busy. We were here Tuesday night...Chill relax place!"
"This is dive bar with a bit of better ambiance, although it was a tad dark, but that is kinda on par for a dive bar. The bartenders were birth awesome, super friendly and quick as can be. I really enjoyed myself. Melody is an angel. I will be back soon I hope."
"This bar, initially unknown to us, was put on our radar after attending a charity event. Simple, no-frills place, but fun, locals feel -- especially on the night of the event! The bartenders impressively managed to get all those drink orders out to a crowded, full house! The drinks were good-&-strong... and reasonable! Best to stick with the basic, straight forward cocktails (husband said that the Manhattan was only OK). We've returned since, fortunate to be served by friendly-and-efficient Melanie at the bar top! They even offer complimentary popcorn! In reviewing their website, I've discovered that they have happy hour daily! In addition, daily specials. Fun find for a casual hangout and reasonable drinks!"
"Small local spot! Sweetest dive bar. Friendly drinkers. And rhey have poolTables. The service was excellent."
"Definitely one of those "you can't judge a book by its cover" places. Yes, J King Neptune's is a dive bar that also serves delicious, premium quality food. They have several Neptune Fan Favorites designated on the menu and it doesn't make the decision any easier. Most of the entrees are served with choice of starter: salad with homemade dressing or award winning clam chowder; fresh steamed vegetables and choice of side: baked potato, rice or steak fries. We thoroughly enjoyed the Pepper Filet Mignon, with cracked pepper, mushroom, shallot and cognac cream sauce and Shrimp Scampi with fettuccine and garlic bread. Their starter green salad and homemade ranch dressing are what classic side salad dreams are made of. Prices were extremely reasonable for what we got. We also enjoyed chatting with our server, whose father opened the establishment over 50 years ago! This wasn't our first time here and definitely won't be our last. Grateful for this wonderful meal in a really cool, relaxed spot."

I had just completed a 21-hour drive from Tacoma, WA down to Southern California over two days. I arrived around 8 o'clock and merely wanted a stiff drink and serviceable bar food before I went to sleep. Yelp said 30 something reviews, a 4.9 rating and close to my hotel? SOLD!This place was very well lit, had a television always within direct view no matter where you looked, and well-maintained bar games. It almost had more of a sports bar feel rather than a mere dive. I met up with my younger sister. I had a western burger and she had the Shepards pie. Quick kudos to the kitchen staff. The bartender told us that the pie would take a touch longer than other items on the menu. It was obvious, however, that our orders were timed to be finished and expedited to us together. Sis loved the pie and my western burger was seasoned well, full of flavor, and a bit messy (If your western burger doesn't leak a little sauce, the kitchen is doing it wrong).Loved Aaron as a bartender as well. He was as diligent and attentive as he could be to make sure that the cups were full.I encourage you to give this place a visit. By my experience, this is a very well run and managed establishment.

I've ventured to this bar on multiple occasions, and it's for a few reasons. The drinks aren't too expensive, and they have a great selection. Last night, my friend wanted a glass of Chardonnay, and they had four different brands, which I was impressed by.The staff here is also very nice, and their security isn't aggressive like at a lot of other bars in the area. The people who visit the bar are also very friendly. It's a little dive bar on the ocean with a few pool tables in the back.Overall, they have everything you need here, and I will continue coming back to Beach Ball.My rating is 8.5/10.

Great Place, but the Vibe Has ChangedOh my God, I used to love this place, and honestly, I still feel a connection to it, but it's definitely changed over the years. When I first came here, the vibe was different, and it had this underground Santa Ana subculture that I really enjoyed. The bar, which was run by Vanessa, felt like a underground haven--slightly rundown with the shoddiest restrooms, but it had that authentic, gritty charm. The pool tables were usually in decent shape, and the bar always had cool, unique brews, including microbrews. The place felt cozy despite being so small, and when it got packed, you were basically sardined into the whole space. They had an adjacent outdoor section that was rarely utilized, but you could tell it had potential.I've lived here for a long time, and I've always appreciated the diversity in Santa Ana. But this bar used to be about that punkish unique underground micro brew vibe culture(my opinion)--it was never overly focused on any one particular ethnicity. It felt like the space catered to a mix of people, but recently, I've noticed it's shifted. The atmosphere has leaned more toward a hyper-Mexican, Banda-style vibe. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about that, but it's definitely a change. In talking to locals, there's been a sense that just because you're from a certain country doesn't mean you want everything around you to be about that. As a Hispanic American, I get that--we don't always want the place we hang out to feel like it's only representing our cultural background.I'm not sure when this shift happened, but it's possible the pandemic played a role in it. Before that, the bar had more of a microbrew, underground beer culture, and now it feels like it's become part of the Santa Ana "Banda" norm. Whether it was the owner's vision or just the pressures of what sells, it's hard to say. But the place has definitely moved away from the punkish / alternative Santa Ana night scene and embraced something new. Now, if you're into Banda music, tacos, and a lot of Mexican-American influence, you'll love it. Again, no hate on that--just pointing out that it's not the underground, microbrew culture that originally drew people in. It's now a whole different vibe.

Looking for a local dive bar? This is the place. It's not a destination but if you're local to the area, it's a good drop in. Cold beer, hip-hop, and that dive bar shady vibe feel? It's all here. Can't complain about a cold draft.

"I genuinely LOVE this place! Has such a great atmosphere, AMAZING, tasteful drinks, and the BEST mixologist around! Serving up some custom drinks that are to die for! The reopening of it with the Nee/Old owner has made a difference! I highly recommend coming on in and having a few drinks and playing some darts and having one of THE best times here at Ruby's Sports Bar #2 You'll see Sumer as 1 of the mixologist serving you 3 days a week and occasionally 4 days!"
"I came here for the first time on a Thursday night with 2 of my buddies. Didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised at the fabulous experience I had. They had a dj playing the banging cuts. It was around midnight when we arrived so there wasn't many people there. But that didn't matter because the atmosphere was very chill. There were nice waitress dancing around but no one more friendly and engaging then Shara. She was straight fire . We had some beers and the bartender was on top of our needs quickly. They even hooked me up with 2 shots of tequila. Before I knew it it was closing time. I had such a great time I didn't even realized I dropped my wallet there. And I had left and was outside when the security guard rushed out and gave it back to me. Thank god there are still honest people in this world. Shout out to the entire bar. And especially Shara. I definitely will return. 5star for sure."
"Turk's is one of the last places in Dana Point that hasn't been sanitized for the yacht club crowd. While the rest of the harbor got polished up for weekenders who think owning a pair of Sperrys makes them a sailor, Turk's just is. No pretense, no bullshit, no $19 cocktails served in a mason jar. Just a bar--one that smells like whiskey, fried fish, and the kind of stories you don't tell your kids.I worked out of this harbor on the Fury, back when the docks were lined with real boats, real fishermen, and real work. Before Dana Point turned into a glossy, Instagram-friendly version of itself. But Turk's? It still feels like the old days. The walls are covered in history--photos of old-school captains, movie stars who lived hard, and fish that probably don't even exist anymore. The drinks are stiff, the seafood is solid, and if you don't know how to hold a conversation without looking at your phone, this isn't the place for you. It's a refuge. A bar for people who appreciate a cold beer after a long day, who don't need a curated dining experience, who understand that some places are sacred simply because they don't try to be anything but what they are. If the rest of Dana Point is a museum of what used to be, Turk's is still living it."
"Best place to come shoot pool for $1 a game! Nice friendly crowd Friendly bartender's Strong drinks my fav is spicy margarita Taco stand outside Next to liquor store Open late Love this spot"
"Really casual, friendly and comfortable. The bartender was sweet and attentive, the customers seemed to be mostly regulars. (No food) Prices are average, 3 pool tables, & an electronic golf game"
"My first time here tonight. We were looking for a place to shoot pool after midnight that was still open. This place is open until 2am and had 2 pool tables. Although they were both taken when we arrived, the people were really nice and let us have the next game. The bartender, Tina, was really sweet and friendly. She showed us where the coin machine was for the pool table. Basically, 4 quarters for 1 game. The drinks were good and the people were all nice and welcoming. It wasn't that busy tonight since it's a Thursday, so I used my TouchTunes app to select my own music for the Juke box and we had a great time drinking and shooting pool. Stayed until closing. Will definitely be back!"
"There was a couple chilling with a baby after a funeral, people playing pool, people eating at a table, people drinking at the bar.....You can have whatever type of experience you are going for.Remember people, this is dive bar with good prices, don't review expecting a 5 star experience. Review this for what it is. It's a good place to hang out and have a good time!!I will be back. I had the chicken fingers, they were good. My friend had the chicken nachos, he ate everything! There's a wide range of music depends on who's playing what. We watched football and talked, some peeps were playing pool then later someone came in and set up to play music.Cheers"
"Damn this place is dope AF!!! Been here a few times and wow impressed with the professionalism of staff and the decor and quality drinks. Everyday is a party at this place. It starts with the owners Dave and Jen. Got to meet them since they celebrate a lot of events here. HB family who lives in town and cares greatly about this business. The bartenders... Wow they are fantastic! Sam - Jameson fangirl who's amazing at concoctions ask her to make you one next time. Meow- the lady who sings, and can lay down and control any crazy times with a smile. Stephanie- sweetest lady you'll meet. Liz - down to earth and keeps it real. Karaoke no better place in OC. 7 days a week!Everyone who's anyone goes here!"
"A ton of beers in tap, darts & pool tables. Close to the 405 frwy. Open again as of 12/13/24."
"This place was so hot inside, had to go ditch my jacket. Had a bouncer at the door. Didn't do much. Place would go from can move packed to empty. It's a dicey bar. Best thing about this place, parking right behind the location. Good head start spot to grab a cheep beer, get the evening going. Or maybe even a way to close out the night. Had a food truck outside after hours."
"My boyfriend had been coming to this dive bar since he was young, but this was just my second time to visit. Very cozy, with a very fascinating bar ambiance -- there's a collection of decorative pieces that was obviously garnered through the years, pool tables, wall TVs, great music, good lighting. The bartenders are all so nice and welcoming. You can also see that this place is considered a neighborhood bar -- my boyfriend talks about many nostalgic memories (talk about 20-30 years of coming here since he was young) and we got to chat with many who's been coming here for years as well. Definitely perfect for new customers who want to have a new hang out place. A live band was playing and they chatted with the guests after their set. The young couple next to us were very friendly too. Quite a warm place to go to."
"Oil spot to have drinks and hang out with friends. Wish you guys had some darts though. Bartender was cool and the AC was nice while we played pool."
"- Pretty girls- Strong drinks - Sports on TVs - Good foodOkay, is there anything else missing from this bar?! Probably one of the most All around best bar I've been to in a while. It was 4 pm on a Friday and the parking lot was full. We parked across the street. It was so lively inside, I was surprised. Definitely coming back."
"Great chill vibe with darts, golf arcade, and darts. Super relaxed, good music, great drinks, and Natalie the bartender was so sweet and helpful. They have FREE tacos on tuesday and biscuits and gravy on sundays, what an awesome place! Found it with my buddy through some random googling and so glad we found this place. Highly recommend for that dive bar experience with a clean atmosphere and local vibe.Super cool!"
"Really cool bar in Orange that I just happen to find to kill time while waiting for a reservation. Decently priced drinks with pool tables, darts, and lots of tv screens for sports. Music wasn't too loud and the crowd was chill. Staff and bartender was super friendly. Would definitely come again"
"We stopped in to kill a little time before going to the other place. We went to they had drinks. I had a couple steps, but I ended up just drinking water to feel better. It was a fun place. It was quite busy. The music was great. they have a pool table they have outside so you can smoke if people do smoke. The vibe is great. We got a large table for all of us to sit and just talked and hung out and then more friends came to celebrate which was awesome and then we left, but it was nice. We got seats. Everybody was smiling and having fun and enjoying the music and drinks.Thank you for great service. Everybody was really nice and the bartenders. Have a beautiful day :) show kindness to everyoneAloha"
"5 StarsI stumbled upon this bar on a whim, and what a find! The atmosphere was warm and lively, but what really made the night exceptional was Martin, the bartender. From the moment I sat down, he brought an energy and professionalism that's hard to find these days.Martin has that rare skill of balancing speed and quality--drinks were crafted to perfection without ever making us feel rushed. He recommended a cocktail I'd never tried before, and it turned out to be one of the best drinks I've had in years. On top of that, he was incredibly attentive, checking in just the right amount and making everyone at the bar feel like old friends. If you're looking for great drinks and even better service, do yourself a favor and visit this spot. Ask for Martin--he's a gem!"
"This one takes the cake for the diviest bar I have ever stepped into. It makes the one across the street from my house look like a lounge from Vegas. The bottled beers were kept in a giant ice chest that reminded me of my liquor store also across the street from my house and the soda mixers were poured from a 99¢ 2 liter bottle from the 99¢ store. Shasta is legit though, so don't sweat it you brand-name-soda-drinkers.Aside from the usual divey charm, the people were nice and kept to themselves. The price for a basic coke and ____ was average. The girl who was bartending was nice and checked up on me too.The seating is sparse and the set up is very interesting. Here's what I can remember from the sign:Sunday: Free pool all dayMonday: Happy hour from 11 am/12 pm to 6 pmThey don't accept card! Boo. Be sure to take some cash with you otherwise you'll get charged $2.75 for withdrawing from their ATM."
"From what I been told, this is the area's oldest neighborhood bar. As such, it feels a little divey and I really mean that in the best way possible. And what I mean is that the vibe is very chill and everybody seems to be having a great time. It's not super loud or pretentious. It seriously zoomed to the top three places for me to drink in the Los Angeles area. A big reason for that is their fantastic selection. And I mean fantastic. I was like a kid in a candy store. And for a lot of the whiskeys I wanted try and/ or my usuals. the prices are very, very reasonable. The place is not huge with some main room seating, some seating at the bar, and some pool tables towards the back. But I could seriously spend a very long time at the bar alone. It's in a retail shopping area so there's plenty of parking. But if you must drink a lot, I would suggest you getting a ridesharing service."
"Love Rhonda n Wendy. Great crowd. Love this bar grear prices and fun crowd. 5 stares plus"
"This place rules. Strong drinks at reasonable prices and a decent crowd too. Bartenders are good people."
"This place is exactly what you need it to be when you're looking for exactly what it is. Dingey dive bar. Cheap drinks. Older patrons. Basic and mediocre service. It's a dive, a real dive. And we love it!"
"Great dive bar!! Small place, pool tables and LIVE bands on the weekends. Totally a great place to grab a cold adult beverage !!"
