Bred Hot Chicken - Costa Mesa

Love this halal chicken spot! Used to track them down in their food truck but now they have this spot in Costa Mesa and I try to go anytime I'm in the area!Hands down the best fried chicken place I've ever had. There's so much competition but I love that Bred uses generous portions and amazing spices and flavor. Their banana pudding is *chefs kiss*They are always super friendly as well and I love their customer service. My family also tried their fried turkey during thanksgiving and it was such a surprise! We loved it with their gravy. Decent price too.

Probably the best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had. I had the Big O' Sandwich with Ghost Pepper Burn, Seasoned Crinkle-Cut Fries and a soda. My coworker had the Big O' Sandwich with Spicy Satisfying Burn, Seasoned Crinkle-Cut Fries and a soda. It was almost too much sandwich to finish but didn't want to waste one bite. The people behind the counter were very nice and helpful. You could tell they were very proud to put out such a good product. When I am in the area, I will be back. Feel the burn.

If you looking for one of the best Nashville hot chicken, this is the place for you! We got the juicy 4 piece tenders and chick & waffles. The tenders were big, tender, juicy and full of flavor from their very own homemade seasoning. Paired with the comeback sauce, it just packed with even more flavorful deliciousness! They have a regular comeback sauce in the clear plastic and the spicy ones in black. Additional note, their comeback sauce goes well with other food outside of this establishment, like chicken nuggets, in & out burgers, and more! They offer their comeback sauce in a bottle now to take home, which last about a week or so. Now on the chick & waffles. The chicken tenders is same just served with their freshly made hot of the griddle. The waffles are hot, soft, fluffy, and delicious that my kids loved it. Here is the best part, I make a waffle chicken sandwich and pour the maple syrup on. Now, that changed the whole taste dynamic. I'll leave it at that to your imagination. Bred was a lot better than what I was expecting. It's located in The Lab Anti-Mall which is a really cute location. The space inside the restaurant was also clean and the service was fair. For food, I ordered the slider chicks and fries. For spice level, I ordered spicy, which is the second highest. The spice level was perfect. It wasn't too spicy, it was a satisfying burn so it lives up to its description on the menu. The chicken strips they give are big and I loved it. There's a lot of meat and it was also juicy and crunchy. The fries were standard, they lacked seasoning, but I came here for the chicken sandwiches anyway.

I've been wanting to try this chicken sandwich forever, and I finally got the opportunity... let me just say this was by far one of the absolute best, chicken sandwiches that I have ever had. $14 very quick and awesome service nice place honestly it's a pretty decent place to sit and eat and it's not overly loud. The chicken sandwich was not only big. It was meaty. It was as spicy as I wanted it to be which is pretty freaking hot and flavor that came out of this thing was amazing. This place I will absolutely be back to.

Facility was clean, service was great, and the food was fresh. We were served pretty quick on a Saturday afternoon. We were also greeted right away when we came in which always feels welcoming. We had the 2-piece chicken tenders, chicken sandwich, and chicken and waffles. All served with mild spice. It was perfect! The fries were also great.

Bred Chicken in Costa Mesa is honestly one of the better hot chicken places I've been in.The service is top-notch, and they take the time to ensure your meal is incredibly fresh. We ordered the Chicken Nuggets in the mild batter, and wow--these nuggets are huge and packed with flavor! The chicken was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. If you're craving some high-quality fried chicken, this is the spot. Trust me, it's worth the wait!

Pulled up on a Saturday afternoon. Place wasn't too busy, walked in and was greeted by an ordering kiosk. I was able to pretty easily place an order for Tenders and Waffles, a Sandwich and Fries, and Tenders with Mac and Cheese. I waited about 20 minutes for the food which did come out hot. Fries were good, tenders spiced medium could have used more flavor and seasoning, but they were decently moist. The waffle was probably my favorite item I ordered, great flavor and texture. I cannot recommend the sandwich. It's two tenders on a piece of bread and is hard to eat. It would be better served as a boneless thigh or a breast. The slaw is a vinegar based slaw but lacked seasoning and overall the sandwich was a let down. The comeback sauce was average and the BBQ sauce was pretty decent. I ordered ranch, but none was provided. If I ever return, I'll be attempting to get more flavor by trying the hot spice level on some tenders. I interacted with an employee for all of 5 seconds, so I don't have much to say about the actual service.

I came here because I saw it on tiktok. The claims were that they were better than Howlin Rays. While they aren't better, they sure hold up. I love spicy flavors and the ghost pepper was delicious! The loaded fries were great and of course I got extra comeback sauce. I ordered a medium chicken sandwich, spicy loaded fries, and ghost pepper tenders. I like to try out the variation in spice at chicken places because you never know another place's spice level. The medium was just that. A cayenne medium that tastes good. The fries were amazing and the perfect level of spice. Though the heat built up, it tasted very balanced with the slaw and comeback sauce. The ghost pepper tenders were my favorite. I've never had a place let ghost peppers shine while not spicing out the flavor. It was both spicy and tasty! The service was really slow. That was the biggest downside. Unfortunately the people who ordered in front of me, made a huge order and so I had to wait almost 30 minutes for 3 items. The inside is small and they need to wipe down the tables. I wouldn't mind coming back since it is closer to me than Howlin. I hope the service is faster next time though! If the service was faster, this place would be near perfect.

Nice little hot chicken place in a small plaza. Parking was quite hard to find the parking lot was very packed. Me and my boyfriend got the loaded fries and the sliders to share with a side of mac and cheese and potato salad. The chicken itself was very juicy and good. The fries were delicious and I enjoyed the sliders as well. The mac and cheese was good but a little too soupy for me and the potato salad was ok too. They gave us two extra comeback sauces, but you do have to pay for any sauces you want extra. The service was also very great and the lady working, not sure if shes the owner or not, was very friendly! I just wish they had regular honey, because I had to pay almost $3 for the hot honey. If you are craving some hot chicken be sure to check this place out!
