This is the first time I visited this store. The food is authentic to my surprise. Their braised feef and popcorn chicken are must try. I also like their stir fry cabbage that remind me the food back home. I would recommend this place!

I'm not sure if it's a solid 3 stars but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt since they're relatively new. This place took over for Din Tai Noodle and it is different. Service was okay, not overtly friendly. The lady was attentive but at the same time, we were the only party on a Sunday evening. Food wise, there were some good things and some meh things. We were disappointed that they didn't have any wontons so we couldn't try any of the wonton dishes. The Botan fried chicken was actually pretty flavorful and has a slight spicy kick to it. Definitely the best thing we had and would order again. We got a couple bento boxes: the char siu and braised beef. The protein portions were a bit small so if you want more to share, go with the "dish" option. Both proteins were okay and the braised beef was actually pretty tender. If I were to do it again, I'd go with the dish option and skip the rice, dumplings and vegetables. We also got the xiao long bao which was a pleasant surprise. While it's not Din Tai Fung, it was actually pretty juicy albeit with a thicker dough...closer to Mama Lu's style. The cucumber was okay, a bit on the sour side and could use more sugar. The dumplings that came with the bento box were ok, meh.

I always want to give a great review when its earned.Food portions ok, probably need more, dan dan noodles not enough for one person, barely enough for 3 to share, needs more sauce. Soup dumplings ok, needs more flavor. Steamed dumplings ok also, but missing seasoning.Cucumbers ok, but tiny portion. Garlic broccoli was good, but needs more garlic- be bold! Sticky rice was decent portion size but is missing the Chinese sausage, so the flavor you can tell is missing something.Spring rolls were good, a bit mushy on the bottom too much mayo sauce.Just opened will give benefit of that- may try again. Some menu items not available yet.

We tried Botan for first time. The name is a little misleading as it's really not a 'bowl' kind of restaurant. It has some dim sum options as well as traditional Chinese dishes. You can opt to have the dishes served bento style, which means with rice, egg, a little of sour pickled veggie, and 2 pan fried dumplings for $3.50. Overall we liked everything we tried. The only exception is the wonton noodle soup which was very bland. We look forward to coming back and trying other menu items.

We have ordered this to go twice now. Food is well priced. The food is super juicy. We always go for the dumplings. The employees try to get the order to you as fast as possible. The restaurant is very cute.

I didn't realize this place changed ownership ! The sign still shows the sold name but when you walk in you can tell it is so nice inside now. I was not feeling great so I orders the wonton noodle soup and it was delicious. Can't wait to go back and try more.

Was visiting family member at a near by hospital and came across this new restaurant. When I saw the menu, I was so excited to try it. But boy was it disappointing. The service was awful - the waiter showed no interest in serving us and we were the only ones there. He was just standing around. Considering the high prices, the portion size of the entrees are so small. The xlb soup dumplings were ok. I can't recommend and I will try other restaurants when in the Fullerton area.
