Black bear is a great family breakfast restaurant. It has a cabin feel environment. They also sell cute merchandise. We usually come for black bear diner as a family but today we decided to order online and everything was ready on time! I've been to this Black Bear Diner location + their Signal Hill location several times in the past, but for some reason my recent visit wasn't as appetizing as previous visits. I couldn't tell if it's because I ordered an underwhelming dish (I got the tuna melt) or if others felt this way, but my other guests who also frequent the Diner agreed that something was missing in the food. Their portions are consistently huge but the flavor was lacking...maybe new recipes? I would also love to see more vegan options from the diner besides oatmeal! Besides the food, our waitress and the rest of the staff were friendly and patient for my party of 8. I've never had issues with staff here and they always have a smile on their faces!

First had black bear diner many years ago in Northern California and coming to this black bear diner was so nostalgic for me! The service was great and the food was good but I'm docking one star because there were random scraps of things where they didn't belong (there was a bell pepper in my hash browns and an onion in my fruits) food was still really great (ham in my Benedict was a bit salty though) if you're looking for diner food! Also their sauces were great but I suspect they put the wrong sauces into our bottles because the baby bear sauce was the spiciest.

I hadn't been to Black Bear Diner in over 10 years, so I decided to give it another shot. Unfortunately, the food was just okay nothing special. We ordered the steak and egg breakfast with a side of mild sausage and the country fried steak breakfast. While the service was absolutely fantastic (10/10!), the breakfast itself didn't impress me.The food, lack of flavor and quality. I know boxed eggs from a while away.The restaurant was clean, and parking was convenient, which I appreciated. I might return someday to try their lunch or dinner options, but breakfast just wasn't for me.The restaurant was very loud for a Sunday which I expected so if you're looking for somewhere quiet this is not the place.The Steak was good!

My girlfriend and I came here for dinner after our last trip to Disneyland because the cheap tacos we had there were not the business and we wanted a real meal. She had suggested this because she'd been here before and I was happy to take her tip. When we arrived, I was surprised at how large it was and we walked in to see the waitress fixing silverware rolls up front and she greeted us warmly, sat us, and gave us some menus. Debra was our waitress and she was so warm and kind. We made our choices (I had a burger and onion rings, it was a serious mouthful!) and she had the steak and shrimp. The meal really was like homestyle cooking and I couldn't have been more pleased. We picked up some pies to take home and I can't wait to return. This restaurant has quite a menu to explore! I can't wait.

I understand that food to go may come out soggy... but the fries were limp and not edible and the onion rings were falling apart. Salad was better than the CA avocado club sandwich (real chicken!), and came with an unnecessary sans butter or honey (but still appreciated) muffin. Here's my problem: even though requested, no fork or napkins, and you have no way of requesting condiments like mustard, ketchup, or mayo. Who eats fries without ketchup? Everybody who grubhubs from Black Bear Diner.

I received a personal call from Isaid manager of Buena Park Black Bear Restaurant. He apologized saying that the server was misinformed about military discounts. Isaid said that the military discount applies to the whole bill when you bring your family. I appreciate Black Bear for reaching out to me. I will continue patronizing their restaurant and eating their fantastic burger or chef salad.

We made a quick pit stop before we headed back to Phoenix yesterday and I have to say everything was great from the food to the service. Our waitress Michelle did an amazing job and made sure all of the tables in her section were taken care of (even though it seemed like she work an entire half of the restaurant alone) she was on top of Eve and made sure we were taken care of all the way til the end! If you decided to stop by make sure to ask for Michelle!
