I've driven by Ami's crowded parking lot several times but this afternoon the lot had plenty of open spots so we stopped in...and were very glad we did. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the place is bigger than it looks with small tables and patio seating too. The menu has a sandwich pitas (and offer gluten free), rice bowls and hummus bowls. I picked the Sabich hummus bowl, which was topped with eggplant, tomatoes, garbanzos beans and included a hard boiled egg. I thought the hummus was fantastic and I loved the eggplant (a little well done?), and the pita was soft yet chewy and dipped nicely in the hummus as well as the lemon jalapeño dressing (tart and spicy). The food tasted fresh, full of flavor and well prepared. My friend enjoyed a chicken schnitzel (gluten free) pita with fries. I'm sure we'll be back for more. The little lot was quite crowded when we left.

I recently dined at Ami Jerusalem Street Food in Highwood and was blown away by the quality and flavor of their dishes. The chicken schnitzel in pita was crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. The pita was fresh, soft, and airy, adding to the overall deliciousness. The shawarma in pita was equally impressive, with succulent, flavorful meat marinated in rich spices. Fresh vegetables and vibrant sauces complemented the shawarma beautifully, making each bite a burst of flavor. The attention to detail and freshness of the ingredients were evident in every aspect of the meal.Ami Jerusalem Street Food offers an authentic and delightful taste of Jerusalem, with top-notch dishes that are highly recommended.

i have been waiting for this restaurant to open, and finally got to go today! Amazing! Love everything we have. Fresh ingredients, nice and clean interior, superb service. Def deserve a 5 stars. I love my cauliflower pita! We had a bit of mix-up during the delivery of the order (we ate there, so easily corrected), so I got a glimpse of the cauliflower hummus bowl - def a bigger portion if you are hungry! but the loaded pita sandwiches was enough to fill me up :) Don't miss all the variation of the dessert and drinks...all european level sweet level which I love.

Incredible Service went with my family family after trying it out numerous times with my work fam, and it was just as good if not better I swear every time I go there food taste even better than the last! Good quality food that does not make you feel sick afterwards you feel like you're eating in a family kitchen. We sat in the patio area with large umbrellas to shield the sun and drizzles. We have a new favorite!

Went here for the first time today during their soft opening, very exciting! Ami is the owner and seems like a nice guy, he came to greet us and ask how everything was. There are 4 tables with 2 chairs at each and you can move around the tables to meet your needs. Also heard they're adding more tables outside, it's in the works. The current menu isn't the full menu, it's soft opening until May 19 I believe it was? Chicken shawarma $15 - good! Chicken needed more flavoring and there needed more ingredients inside but the quality was amazing and tasted yummy overall. The jalapeño pesto was def a winner! Not so spicy for those that like spice but probably spicy for those that dont. Sabich pita $13 - my mom enjoyed this! Vegetarian itemJerusalem beef hummus bowl $16 - my dad enjoyed this! Not enough meat but taste was great. They have good hummus! They did charge $2 for adding eggplant. They didn't mention it was an upcharge so we were surprised after paying and seeing the receipt. French fries $4.75 - nice and crispy! They dont serve ketchup but didn't need it (although we do like ketchup! Haha)Diet Coke $1.50Would definitely recommend people try this place out!!

Food is okay. I really thought that it is one of those original middle eastern food cause it says jerusalem street food. They don't have the real lamb shawarma in pita bread same as in Jerusalem or in the middle east. Only chicken and beef same as the typical Pita inn restaurants. Nothing different.

Great experience when we dined during training week. Uber fresh food made from scratch, excellent flavor profiles - familiar but elevated. Got a chance to meet chef Ami who was greeting all the guests and his knowledge, skill and warmth really shines through in the food and experience. Great little joint to boost the middle eastern fare in the North Shore. We will be back... often. Service was with a smile and waits were not too long, even though it was the first week.

Hard to find high quality Israeli street food in the burbs. The pita was soft and fresh, the hummus was tasty. I can't wait to come back. Sabbaba!

Been here twice. The parking can be a tight squeeze but it's worth it! Ami has quickly become a neighborhood favorite. They offer both a lovely outdoor patio and a few indoor seats. The owner and employees are very friendly, welcome you warmly and check up on you while you are dining. This is Jerusalem street food, so if you are not familiar with, check the online menu because it is not the usual pita joint. We love it!
