Amatitlan is an amazing restaurant! The food, flavor and hospitality is great. Everything is made fresh to order. I've come with my family and alone and it's always consistent. My sister says the churrasquito Chapin is delicious! My go to are the pupusas which have so much flavor. There's plenty of street parking.

This is a cute spot with excellent service. I stopped here to pick up lunch on a Friday afternoon. There was 1 other table there. I ordered 2 pupusas: chicken and cheese and a chicharrón and cheese one with a jamaica juice. While I waited, the server brought me a complimentary cup of coffee. I don't know what kind it was but it was delicious and such a nice treat while I waited, totally unexpected. The pupusas were solid, stuffed nicely and came with 2 sauces plus the usual cabbage mix. Good prices, good food and fantastic service. I'll definitely be back!

Great portions, great menu, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Nice to have a Guatemalan joint in the neighborhood!

Tasty authentic Guatemalan food! Freshly prepared and hot. We enjoyed the pupusas, tamales, empanadas, and rellenitos. Easy to order online and quickly pick up. Easy parking in front, just look for the Guatemalan flag.

Hidden gem. Delicious food. Unique dishes like pacaya. As well as some classic standbys. Friendly service. Cozy atmosphere. Feels like this place is a food network celebrity visitor away from being the place to be. Been here a few times now and we intend to be regulars.

Yo soy de Guatemala y se como una crema debe de ser espesa! La crema de este lugar es como que le echan agua, literalmente agua!!! El atol de elote nada original como debe de ser y hasta el color, el sabor y tampoco le ponen elote!! Son detallistas que valen mucho para un Chapin! Por ahorrar dinero le ponen agua a la crema!!! Por favor!!! Por eso aquí en Chicago no hay restaurantes buenos porque no sirven nada auténtico! Es triste !!!

This place is wonderful. I've now been several times, with a friend of mine from Guatemala, and she says this is the best place in Chicago for "taking her back home."We've really liked the pupusas, tacos dorados, the hilachas or carne guisada (either one), dobladas con pollo, garnachas, and platanos fritos.I must add that we haven't explored the entire menu. Since everything we've tried has been really good and well-prepared, it's probably worth digging a little deeper. The breakfast specials look enticing.This is the very definition of a local, ethnic, hole-in-the-wall. And it's a gem.

AMAZING GUATEMALAN RESTAURANT!!! I have to travel over an hour to get to this place, but it is worth the trip. The restaurant itself is small, but the service, authenticity, and flavor are HUGE! The Guatemalan tamales are amazingly delicious and authentic, you cannot go wrong with them, but they do run out. The chille rellenos and pupusas were very tasty as well. I've never been a huge fan of the tamales de chipilin or maiz, but this place changed my mind, I really liked them. And to finish your meal, the plantains or rellenitos will not disappoint, they were delicious! My take our oder didn't take long and the staff was very nice while we waited, they even gave us complimentary tea. Great food and wonderful service, this is the most heartfelt 5 star rating I've ever given.

This authentic Guatemalan restaurant is a hidden GEM in Albany Park! The food is incredible and i am obsessed with their banana leaf wrapped tamales. The staff is super efficient and friendly. I highly recommend it to everyone looking for authentic and delicious Latin American food.
