Always glad to show someone new a great spot in Chicago. Decor is fun. Outside is a nice little oasis despite being on a busy street. The flowers are a nice touch. The food and drinks were great as always. The wild mushroom ravioli was something new for me to try and quite good. The brussel sprout were very good and a better version than the average restaurant. The wine flight was a great deal and way to discover some new bottles. Despite being full, we couldn't pass up the key lime pie and glad we ordered it. It has a tartness that I love but rarely find north of Florida. The espresso helped to round out the night and set us on our way to the show.Service is always generally wonderful and they work nicely as a team. It's nice seeing Alpana herself there as well. The one opportunity would have been for our server to have provided more comprehensive overviews of the dishes. He was definitely charismatic and on top of service however.

I have been to Alpana a couple of times now and the experience has been consistently good! I recently visited this place with my girlfriends for Friday night dinner and drinks. We made a reservation ahead of time which made getting a table and check in process very smooth. We shared an appetizer - whipped Feta and Truffle honey which included olives, red peppers served with sourdough bread. We ordered a Pistachio Pesto and Wild Mushroom ravioli for our main course. Both of the items were very impressive. Give me pistachio and mushroom in my dish, and I'll be the happiest person! Alpana has an impressive range of cocktails and wine selections. I ordered a French Chardonnay and my friend tried Lavender bees. We absolutely loved our drinks! I liked Lavender bees slightly more as I enjoy sour drinks. We tried a Chocolate layer cake to end the night on a good note! The desert was a little underwhelming in my opinion, and seemed a little dry. My friend shared a fun fact about this place. The owner of this place - Alpana Singh is a famous sommelier and has won multiple accolades for her culinary experience. Make sure you ask for recommendations for wine pairings as you will be impressed with their wide selection and expertise. Alpana is situated in the heart of Gold coast and has a very sophisticated atmosphere. It remains one of my favorite places to dine in Chicago!

Stumbled upon this place while living in River North and I would describe it as a hidden gem. Definitely a slept on place in the city. The food, cocktails and service were all incredible and unique. Would recommend this place if you're looking for a nice dinner in the city.

I dined at this restaurant a couple of times 2 1/2 years ago when the establishment first opened and I absolutely loved it. I moved away for a year and a half and couldn't wait to come back. Unfortunately, it was quite disappointing. Service was courteous at best. Food was completely unremarkable and greasy. We ordered the octopus however the bartender put in a ticket for hamachi, insisting that's what I had asked for. We did get the octopus which was gelatinous, brussel sprouts were greasy and submerged in sickly sweet apple vinegar reduction, the chicken was meh. I politely shared my experience with a staff member, not expecting anything and she sent us a cup of ice cream which I didn't eat because I'm lactose intolerant.

Great service. My server was very kind and caring towards my food. Thank you. The food was delicious, I had the Gold Coast omelette. Perfectly cooked, but the white cheddar was a little too much.... Also some bees attacked my food. Help!

Alpana is a neighborhood staple and perfect for those visiting the city as it is right off Michigan Ave. the service is always incredibly friendly, and the decor is cozy, yet vibrant! I've dined here several times, and I've never been disappointed by the food. The pastas are a must, especially the tagliatelle verdura. You also always have to order the whipped feta every time. It's delicious!!

I wanted to love this place so much more. Unfortunately, we sat down and waited 40 mins for our server. Apparently there was miscommunication on who our server was. We flagged down a server assistant to let them know we haven't had a server stop by. Good came pretty fast but waited another insane amount of time for the check. In total we were at the restaurant for 3hrs and 25 mins. No complaints about the atmosphere or the food just needed better service to have a better experience.

I had an amazing time here on Valentine's Day with my girlfriend. The prix fix menu was perfect. The soup, bread, and pasta couldn't have been any better. The staff is so polite and fast that you will never have to worry about anything. To end the night they also have delicious desert options to help sweeten that palate.

Special shout out to our server, Sarah, who took such great care of us!!We loved our experience at Alpana, which came to us through a work recommendation. Highly recommend the whipped feta and truffle honey, which is a great shareable dish. We got it with the prosciutto but still great without. However you decide to build your bite will work. The butter chicken meatballs were piping hot and so full of flavor. The sauce was perfect. I'm a sucker for anything mushroom on the menu so the ravioli was amazing. The pistachio pesto was fresh and so delightful. The strawberry shortcake sundae was the perfect way to finish our meal. We will definitely be back!
