What a charming little place!!! We were headed to #Starbucks but decided to #SupportLocal and I'm so glad we did!! This place is darling. The service was fantastic and the coffee was amazing! I mean it was truly delicious. I'm not a coffee fan, I just drink it when I'm feeling sluggish. This one force myself ...this was quite tasty. Not bitter. Perfectly balanced with zero aftertaste. I think I could enjoy this as a treat. We also had the best Avocado Toast. A fresh and tasty take on the usual recipe. Scrumptious. We also tried the Empanada (Beef) and it was delicious. There were so many other dishes that we wanted to try. Will definitely be back.

Really enjoy this neighborhood cafe. The horchata is really tasty. They have a small but mighty menu with several Mexican staples to at are great for breakfast or lunch. My only suggestions: 1.) this place does amazing Mexican/Latin staples and I sort of wish they'd double down on that. They seem to want to accommodate everyone, with avocado toast and English muffin breakfast sandwiches and donuts/muffins, which you can find all over Hyde Park. Instead I would really focus on their unique gifts and expand that. Hyde Park is a desert for good Mexican/Latin cuisine. If I had their amazing skills, I would get rid of the avocado toast and muffins and offer entirely authentic Latin flavor offering. Breakfast tacos...breakfast burrito...expanded chilliquiles offering...Mexican coffees...adding to their already great offerings of empanadas, flautas, tamales, etc. If they made a great breakfast taco and cafe de olla, I'd be there every day.

Fairly standard cafe, with a "Mexican twist" as some have said. Matcha horchata was very sweet, but that's how horchata is. Breakfast burrito was nothing special but hit the spot.

I came here as a weekly coffee pickup treat, after I heard they re-opened under another name but apparently not under new management. (or did they?) The people appeared to be the same but not the name. The last time I came, when it was Bridgeport, they did NOT have decaf coffee, except Americano, and now Nothing is decaf there, according to the clerk. I guess I should get herb tea if I have to avoid caffeine, or go elsewhere.I ordered a medium drip coffee and Tevana English Breakfast, $7! The medium drip coffee starts at $4! Even Starbucks doesn't go that steep, and the coffee was just ok. I realize these are Hyde Park prices.I added what looked like donut holes/munchkins, 3 for $1.50. They were ok, rather dense in the middle. I should have asked when they were made. What prompted the 2 star review was a sanitary issue: I saw some chocolate cake samples on a plate and wanted to try one. Like a dope I forgot my hand sanitizer. I asked if they had any around, the clerk replied that they DO NOT HAVE HAND SANITIZER, but there was a bathroom. I passed on the samples. The place was empty, but still, I did not want to chance it. It's bad enough coffee places had to close due to COVID, but just about EVERY place has hand sanitizer! It's practically a work expense write-off at this point, right? I may go back with a plan to sit inside and chill with tea or a pastry, but only if someone else is paying, or if I remember my hand sanitizer.

Hello! I have been a patron of this cafe since they first opened in Hyde Park. I have watched this establishment go through employees, and the customer service has gotten terrible. Since being a customer there, there is no sufficient price list, no receipts are given, everyone gives different price quotes for items, we aren't greeted when we come into the cafe, and today was just the icing on the cake. I waited almost 30 minutes for a sandwich, I was given the wrong empanada, and I was given dirty looks and stares from the workers like I did something wrong. Yes the food is good, but this cafe is overpriced and for the service that I've received, not worth patronizing anymore. There is alot of improvements that need to be made to this place, which is unfortunate because they have such good food. You've just lost a customer that has been a day one customer.

This is a new coffee shop down the street from me. I went in and was pleased to see the food they have! It's not your basic coffee shop food, there's a nice Mexican addition to the food- emapanadas, tamales, sopas, and others. I got the chorizo and the beef empanadas and they were freaking delicious along with the green salsa they gave me. I will be for sure going here again! The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because I think their cold brew could be stronger lol but that's just me. It was delish otherwise! The staff was nice too :)

This is a nice little coffee shop with a minor in Mexican food, nestled right next to the Hyde Park Arts Center. The space is gorgeous, with lots of windows but also shady inside, with nice looking furniture and a lot of counter space. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The iced coffee is tasty and strong. And they serve enchiladas if you need lunch, or tiny empanadas if you need a little savory snack any time. This could become an essential place. Check it out.

Nice spot for coffee or lunch/snack. This is not a "latte art" kind of place but it is a "stuff your face with empanadas" kind of place!

Such a great spot! I love coming to Almendro week after week to try new pastries and juices they have! Everyone who works here has always been friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is great to meet a friend or to get some work done. I highly recommend!

My first time here. It took a while because I was not a fan of Bridgeport. I went on a Saturday at 1pm, so it wasn't crowded. I ordered a large macchiato (delicious), three churros (delicious), one beef empanada (delicious, but room temp, crust so flaky...it was perfection), and a cheese danish. The pastry was divine. I don't know the individual prices, but the total was $25. Considering two items at Dunkin Donuts cost close to ten bucks, I'm not complaining. They have breakfast items, fresh sandwiches (I can't find a simple quality sandwich in HP, so I'm excited) and smoothies made with coconut water for $6.75. The interior is delightful with space to sit and talk comfortably. I will be back. I just hope it's more staff during peak hours.
