Love this place! She goes to the Saturday Little Italy Farmer's market and love that basque cheesecake, and the Alfajores (cookies).I tried to order online but seems the timing is never right or the order gets cancelled so I stuck with just going on Saturday's to pick up what she has in stock. For sure will be back.

August Stop 25Me and my buddy came to the farmer's market just for this stand. After seeing it recommended, I was very excited to try the Honey Cake and the Basque Cheesecake. Unfortunately they weren't selling the Honey Cake on this Saturday so more reason to come back! We got a slice of the Basque Cheesecake, which was so sweet and dense. It definitely had a ton of flavor that might be too rich for my Chinese tastebuds. Nevertheless, it is super good still! We also got the Peach Sponge Cake which was actually our favorite from this stand. The light chiffon cake with cream and custard matched so well with the sweet peaches! They do not sell this via pre-order so you got to get lucky to find this one!And finally we had to try some alfajores. On this day we had the dark chocolate covered one and the orange blossom one. The chocolate one was very rich and reminded me a lot of a dense brownie. The orange blossom was less sweet, and even more delicious! Next time we have a free Saturday, I will do my best to stop by again. I might even pre-order some whole cakes for parties. It is super good!

Encountered this vendor at the Petco Park 2022 Holiday Nights event. Cute little stand and delicious looking eats. We saw folks running around with these little gingerbread treats so we had to try it. How crazy is it to balance in *ACTUAL* ginger into the gingerbread?! I have never had anything like it. I really wished I had the opportunity to taste these hot and fresh out of the oven. When we got home and we nuked one in the microwave, it really brought out the cakey cookie and spice profile. But i'm just mind blown that there was actually ginger root in this! It's very hard to cook with ginger root in sweet baking without making it taste like dirt or too stringy with the tough fibers.Color me impressed. We'll have to find her at the next farmer's market .. hopefully she'll come up to north county. Instaprofile = @alfajorebakeryRound up for small business and genuine art.

I have to say, Valery the owner of this bakery has some unique talents. Not only does she make some beautiful Alfajores, ranging from the more traditional Alfajores de Maicena, to those rolled in coconut, brown butter walnut alfajores, to a vegan chocolate & sea salt alfajores; however, did your know that she also makes amazing cakes like a Basque Burnt Cheese Cake and Medovik or Russian Honey Cake? I do, because I have had both of them. Both cakes offered great flavor profiles and textures. I was truly impressed with both and look forward to trying more of her baked goods. You can find her at the La Jolla Open Aire Market on Sundays and on Saturdays at the Little Italy Mercado! You can also order from her website.

The alfajores were good but there isn't a cookie in the world delicious enough to cancel out this woman's attitude. She treated us like we were absolutely idiots when we were simply asking to clarify what was what, having never had anything from this bakery before and being unfamiliar with alfajores. By that point she'd already put one in a bag, otherwise we would have just walked away. It was the most bizarre farmers market vendor experience I think I've ever had.

The Basque Cheesecake is so much better than the ny style cheesecake you find anywhere. Alfa Bakery obviously uses great quality ingredients in their Basque Cheesecake , wish they had a bakery located in Bird Rock / La Jolla Village area. Will not eat ny style cheesecake again after having Alfa bakery " Basque Cheesecake " it's so much lighter and creamier , just delicious.

Best alfajores i've had! I reached out via Yelp since I was having trouble navigating the online ordering system and Valery was very nice and patient in helping me get my order placed. She was very quick and professional while communicating and the pick up process was very smooth. Can't wait to try her other baked goods!

Nothing notes a successful market trip than a happy belly with a noteworthy find. We ended off our quick impromptu San Diego trip with a walk down the infamous Little Italy Farmers Market. This is where we found the cute little pink tables with a small huddle of people even through the tail end of market hours. They had on display what seemed to be 2 gigantic slabs of dessert to what we quickly came to realize was 2 contrasting choices. A burnt basque cheesecake, and a russian honey cake, with each piece running for $8 a slice. Going by instinct and sheep mentality, we opted for a slice of the honey cake. We've had this a handful of times here and there from no significant bakery but when you get a bite of Alfa's you'll notice the care and detail that goes into each layer. Super moist, decadent and buttery, the layers of cake with the balance of each layered buttercream blanket makes each bite come out as amazing as the first. We felt shorted as we had walked a mile away from the stall and didn't get a chance to try more of their goodies. But with just a slice of cake, this little stall made an immense impression and has definitely won us over all the way from Orange County. When we're in and around San Diego again, this is on the top of my bookmarked list!

Little Italy Farmers Market Customer: One of the best cheese cakes in town, it's creamy deliciousness! It's always consistent and taste the same each and every time. We buy strawberries and tangerine juice, and make a compote specifically for this cheese cake! one slice is good for two people.
