Large portions, cheap food. Gyro plate lunch special is cheaper than any fast food and more worth it. Lights may be off but they are open.

This place hs good reviews for a reason! They have different menus for lunch and dinner. They also have a lunch specials. 1. Spanakopita platter - came with a huge spinach and cheese pie, salad, pita and tzatziki sauce, this was a super hit with my group. Ordered it twice.2. Falafel platter - came with a 5 falafels, salad, pita and tzatziki sauce, the falafel was not great, but was not bad at all!3. Hummus - i have had better hummus, nonetheless it was good. The portions are huge for the prices. There's almost no place left that can give you such good quantity and taste for the price they are charging. It's a a steal deal.PS: was too hungry to take pictures

This place is dismal, but makes up for the lackluster ambiance with good food. I had a craving for Mediterranean food and was delighted by the vegetarian mousakka. It was layers of eggplant and zucchini topped with a creamy béchamel sauce. It was satisfying comfort food. My dinner came with rice and salad. The portions were large without being pricey. Service was quick. There were only two people working behind the counter. The server was stressed which was understandable since the small restaurant was starting to fill up and there were also customers calling in orders. If you are looking for a good value and aren't interested in pomp and circumstance, then this place is worth making a stop for if you're in Hillcrest.

Amazing food, great staff, and big portions. Feels like you're in LA, which is the best part of the restaurant.

Food:The food was good. I ordered 2 gyros and paid only $16 and they were loaded with meat and flavor. Definitely a great spot on a budget.Service:The owner needs an attitude check. I came in 40 minutes before closing and the owner (I would assume) seemed very bothered. He said he would only be able to make "sandwiches" which meant gyros since he turned off the fryer and indicated he couldn't make falafel when I asked him about it. He scoffed at me for asking what kind of meat was in his gyro -- he said it's a mix of beef and lamb, expecting me to know that this is standard. I asked him how big the gyros were to get an idea and he shrugged his shoulders, all annoyed, "I don't know...whatever fits on pita bread" as if all pita bread is the same size. I was definitely turned off by his attitude, he needs to work on his patience and people skills and shouldn't expect first-time customers to be experts on his menu items.Ambiance:The atmosphere is a small fast food type of joint with indoor seating, located near many other trendy restaurants and establishments in Hillcrest.Overall, it's a shame that the owner's lack of people skills can negatively affect one's overall experience.

I LOVE Alexi's Greek Cafe. Their prices are amazing and their service is quick! I've come to really appreciate the rapid pace that I'm able to get both in and out, especially on a day that I'm rushing for lunch. My favorite deal is their Gyro lunch special w/ which you can get a hearty Gyro and fries all for 9 dollars. I frequent this venue and think that if you check it out you'll enjoy it as well!

I almost don't want to review this place because I want to keep this gem all to myself. Came in for lunch at off hours on a weekday so the place was empty. They have really good lunch and dinner deals if you're looking to dine on a budget. It's a small operation, but the service was fast and efficient. The food is phenomenal!! Good portions for how cheap it is, and the flavors are amazing. 2 of us shared the saganaki and vegetarian sharing platter - we were super hungry and we couldn't even finish all the food. It was so fresh and flavorful! But we made space for the baklava, which was totally worth it - super syrupy and fresh.

This place is AWFUL!!! Don't eat here. The food is terrible. May be cheap but you get what you pay for. They likely don't even change out the grease they use. BEWARE - don't do it! Go elsewhere!!! There are plenty of Med and Greek places in Hillcrest, don't waste your money here. The service and employees are fine - it really is just the FOOD. Yuck - just not good at all.
