I have to say, I didn't believe in yoga and my first perception of Zumba wasn't that great either. But, my friend wanted to give it a shot and dragged me with her. I'm so glad she did! My first yoga and Zumba classes were at Yoga By Julia, and I have to say, the instructors made my experience pleasant and coming back for more. Julia makes it a point to learn your names (and does a pretty good job of remembering who you are). After the hour-long sessions, I was so relaxed after yoga, I almost fell asleep! I also like the fact that she has spray bottles of lavender water and cloth towels to wipe down your mats afterwards (I made good use of those). After yoga, I tried Zumba. I was pretty intimidated because I didn't know any of the moves and thought I was going to make a complete fool of myself, but it wasn't bad at all. It was actually really fun! It was like an hour-long, bust your hiney dance-off between you and the mirrors on the wall. The people in the classes are really nice and fun to chit-chat with, too. If you're new to yoga and/or Zumba, or even a seasoned veteran, check out Yoga By Julia, you won't be disappointed!P.S.There's an Albertson's and Starbucks in the same shopping center, as well as a place to get your hurr and nails done. After yoga/Zumba, I always did my grocery shopping at that Albertson's (which is very clean and well-stocked) because I found I'd always get healthier food after my workouts!

I have ventured into numerous yoga studios only to leave less "zen like" than I was hoping, however, Yoga by Julia studios has fulfilled all of my expectations. The studio is small enough to feel intimate but big enough to not be intimidating. The staff and instructors are great, not to mention fun and encouraging. There are times when it gets a little crowded, especially during Groupon deals and other specials, but hey, that's how I actually discovered the place! By far one of my favorite studios around town, well worth the $!

I started attending this studio with the new student 30 days for $30 deal. The studio has great instructors, a variety of class types (yoga for stress relief, cardio flow, etc) and classes are held as early as 6:00 AM and as late as 7:30 PM. Pedro's sunrise yoga class at 6:00 AM is my favorite. It's physically challenging without being draining and incorporates relaxation/meditation. I highly recommend it!

My first time doing yoga was at Yoga by Julia and my experience was so great that I'm now a yoga fan for life. Julia is among the nicest and bubbliest people I've ever met. Her intro class was perfectly paced for a complete beginner like me, without being boring. Unfortunately she's no longer teaching, as she's turning her attention to running/expanding the business. I'm sure she'll guest teach occasionally though. Emily likes to use a lot of props, so if that's your thing then make sure you go to her classes. Steven's classes are harder and more of a workout, which I also enjoy. The studio is clean, bright, and airy. There's a bathroom and changing room in the back, along with mats, blankets, straps, and blocks that you can borrow for your lesson. What got me hooked was the special introductory price: $20 for 20 classes. It doesn't get much better than that. I'll be sad when I have to leave Albuquerque and Yoga by Julia.
