Such a fun event / neat idea. My aunts, cousins, and I did the "Baby it's cold" outside session at Chama River Brewing Company (yes, if you wanted wine it was extra but still). We were supposed to draw a red bird surrounded by a snowy background. The neat thing was that you could go as fast or as slow as you wanted, follow the instructor or slightly create your own masterpiece, and no one picture came out the same way (hey, I'm not artist but I was really concentrating). We loved it and would definitely go back (I hear there's a rainbow galactic space unicorn?? Whaaa?!)

Attended an event last night at O'Niell's Nob Hill. Meet up with a few friends to paint the Rainbow Galactic Space Unicorn. Yup. When I arrived, the room was already set up with work stations. We picked our places up in the front. The class alternates between instruction for each step and periods of music where you just create. It was easy enough to follow, and it was fun to put my own spin on the design. Loved it and would do again!

We LOVE Paint Nite. My husband and I have decided to go to one paint nite at least once a month. It's such a great activity. I am an artist, but my husband...not so much. He finds paint nite to be therapeutic. The artists are always fun and quirky. I love that we get to pick the painting and that every painting turns out just a little different...or a lot. Drinks, painting and good company, what more could one possibly want. This is a great time for a couple or even a group. HIGHLY recommended.

Had a great time on Thursday with Taylor at the Yaymaker paint night in the Tractor Brewing on Central. Taylor had great instruction and a wonderful sense of humor. If you haven't tried one I would highly recommend it. We picked this one because we also love the beer at Tractor Brewing. I was surprised at how many events are happening at so many different venues. It was a lot of fun and very relaxing.

Went to paint nite at Black Angus Steakhouse a couple weeks ago and had a great time! I've been to a few of these out-of-state but this was my first in ABQ. First, the location was great for a paint nite event! The canvases were set up in the middle of the back area of the restaurant (not quite a separate room, but definitely separate from general seating), and everyone could see and hear the artist without competing with the regular restaurant noise. The lighting wasn't too bad either; a bit dim maybe but nothing that affected the paintings drastically. Apparently this is a new venue for paint night, and I'm hopeful they keep having events there.Next, the instructor, Taylor was very friendly, patient and emphasized FUN over perfection - just what I expect from a paint night. Overall a wonderful experience and yet another fun activity in ABQ.

If it wasn't because of the great company from friends this would of been the worst paint night ever. The instructor was demonstrating 100MPH which made it difficult to keep up. My boyfriends thoughtful date night surprise turned into a nightmare when the instructor started making passive aggressive comments towards our art. Totally prefer Kelly Jo design by wine, we wanted to try something new but lesson learned.

I absolutely loooove Paint Nite! I've been twice now and it's "all kinds" of fun! See, that New Mex lingo is creepin' into my territory. But seriously, I have even scheduled my next session. You get a group of friends together, or maybe even just your bestie for a night away from the typical noise of Albuquerque, sit down with a glass of wine, beer or margarita - you name it, and have a blast! The venue differs from each night, and some locations host it more than others. Both times my event was held at Kelly's, but the second time it was technically supposed to be held at the Cube but was able to be rescheduled to Kelly's quickly due to permit issues. Anyways, I've seen listings at Garduno's, Delish, The Back Alley Draft House, etc. You can pick your place! What I really love is how it seems like no matter what you do, you can't mess up your piece. At first I was super meticulous with my strokes, then I was completely loosey goosey - the key is just not to overthink! Your guide gives you a pretty good idea of what to do and you never feel lost because their assistant is frolicking around to help if you need it.So, you head to their website: www.paintnite.com, look for events in your area, and right there you can choose which painting is more appealing, which location, and of course your date. Also, the painting shows you which level of difficulty it is in case you want to stick with Very Easy or Easy. But jump on quick, especially if you want it for the following weekend, because things sell out quickly! I hope this flourishes in Albuquerque and I can keep convincing my friends to go. I think it's a win-win for everyone. You get to have fun, the business gets to earn a few extra bucks, and the artists/instructors get to practice their art and show you a good time, and c'mon, who doesn't love doing something that lets other people have fun? So next time you're wondering what's happening in Albuquerque and you wanna get a little buzzed but also pair it with an activity, hop on the paint nite train! All aboard!

My boyfriend and I love going to Paint Nite. The artists are very entertaining and they do a great job of creating a fun atmosphere. Signing up for a class is simple and convenient. I would recommend arriving early to get good seats and eating dinner before the class begins. The tables are typically not large enough to hold all the art supplies and dinner plates... drinks however, fit just fine. The time flies when you are painting, especially if the painting is complex and has a lot of steps. Thankfully, there is always an assistant artist who walks around and helps people with their paintings. Don't be afraid to ask for help! The artists want you to leave with paintings that you can proudly display in your home.

My wife and I were looking forward to this event for a couple weeks. Night of the event rolls around, we travel across town to the location and wait in line at the host restaurant the event is to be held at. Come to find out the event was canceled. Got my confirmation e-mail and money taken out of my account from Groupon but didn't get a single notification of any sort about cancelation. The loss of gas money, loss of travel and wait time, heck, even the lost funds invested into the event doesn't compare to the wasted evening due to the plans we had to shuffle just to make Paint Nite work.

Super fun experience. Second time doing it, and this was much better than another paint/wine place I went with. It was located at a bar, where drinks were served directly to you. The instructors were super helpful, and made sure your art supplies were stocked. Would recommend for couples, chick night, even company team building activities.
