Maybe the days of "Hey, that place looks cool. Let's swing- by and check it out!" are long gone. A fellow train enthusiast and I found these guys on the internet and made that mistake.First off, the website didn't mention it is a mail-order / shipping "warehouse" and NOT an actual walk-in shop. We could have handled that fact, but when the woman who opened the front door and spouted "What are you looking for?", like we had interrupted her lunch or something, we felt pretty stupid. Not a good first impression. The woman continued to tell us that "nobody collects "H.O. scale" trains anymore". We know many who do, including ourselves. She also stated "There aren't any train shops left in the country, it's all mail-order". We know two such shops very well in Pinellas Park, FL...and they are far from "closed".In a nutshell, we were left with an impression, and a "scolding", which will keep us away from "Wig-Wag". What's sad is that many small, local businesses struggle every day to stay afloat. Presenting yourself as a self-proclaimed, rude know-it-all with inaccurate information just isn't the way to attract new customers.

My son inherited an amazing O scale model and we were ready to look at accessories. Unfortunately, we found the rudest store in town for his first experience. We barely got in the door before we were berated with questions, scoffed at when we asked for O scale accessories, because it is a "$2500 train" and no good for long term. Terrible to be discriminated against and treated so poorly.

I don't think these guys still exist. If I'm wrong please correct me. Really looking for a good train store in the ABQ area. Mostly HO and O gauge but some N gauge too. Any one know someone wanting to sell some Garden Rail ? Tom

I walked in and was accosted by the lady at the front, who told me brick-and-mortar hobby shops are all dead and they (Wig-Wag) only do mail order and the 10 things in HO they have are just there because payment fell through on special orders and the only way to get model railroading supplies these days is to special order in the 3 week window manufacturers give, then wait a year for things to show up. Thanks for the lecture. I'll let all the other stores I frequent know they should close down. There appeared to be some N-scale stuff but I don't know if it was actually for sale or already claimed. I could have saved myself a lot of hassle if the website was up front with only being mail-order. I have no idea where the nice, organized tables depicted on the website are, but it certainly wasn't in the store.
