My driveway project wasn't cheap. Prior to the project I thought I should have gotten more bids. The crews are about done now. I had over a week to watch these hardworking pros change the appearance of the front of my house. Any one of these guys could have their own business. Wow! What a great investment with a super company!!

I would highly recommend Whelchel Landscaping & Construction. It was nothing short of a pleasure working with Dimitri and the entire crew. There were draining concerns in our backyard and they worked through in issue so the new design would drain properly. The crew and foreman were very professional and did outstanding work. Will be doing additional work with them in the Spring. Thanks Whelchel!!

My wife and I wanted some backyard work done. She found Whelchel Landscaping on line. We called them to come out and give us an idea of cost for everything we wanted done. Dmitri came out and listen to everything we wanted to do. He then said he would write up an estimate that would be line itemized so we could pick and choose what work we wanted. Everything looked great. We went with the most important items we wanted. A backyard fireplace with extended patio pad plus a cooking cover for my grill and smoker. Cost over all was with every penny. We had a get together coming up and wanted the work done before hand. Dmitri said it shouldn't be a problem but they did have other work at the moment. Regardless the did start in time to finish on time just as they said they would. Total time was 2 weeks of work. During this time we meet Bill the owner, great guy. He was very helpful and listened to everything we had to ask or say. Dmitri also was great during the planning stage. We went back and forth over the design but he listened and did everything we asked. Then came work time. Got to meet 2 of what I think was Bill's best workers Johnny and Larry. Dealt with them the most throughout the project. These guys did an awesome job on our fireplace. It is exactly what we wanted. with everything said and done this company did an awesome job. I will not hesitate to call them again for anything we need done in the future. Great job Bill, Dmitri, Johnny and Larry. Thank you guys.

So fortunate to have this outfit come out last week and get a bunch of landscaping masonry and faux turf installed. Ask for Kellyanne. She hooked us up 6 weeks ago and the weather was great so the crew had it done in 2! Days. Excellent service excellent work excellent clean up and not an issue with my neighbors. We're so pleased.

This is our second home where they have done our entire yard. Our first home was a beautiful Koi Pond, perennial flower beds and vegetable garden. At this home they did everything again, no pond but built a yard for our dogs and a separate area for the flowers and vegies. The entire staff is professional and courteous. They are the best and only company I will use.

A good friend recommended Whelchel Landscaping and it turns out I am glad she did. The job involved changes to our backyard that included a water feature, planters, new trees & shrubs, a sidewalk, and walled area for trash bin storage; about a five day project. Each day, Dave, the foreman, and the rest of the crew arrived on time and got right to work. They were courteous, professional and left the area neat and clean at the conclusion of each shift. Minor changes to the plan were not problematic. They are in demand so be prepared to wait a bit for your project to get started; you'll be glad you did.

I used Whelchel the first time a few years ago. They were highly recommended by Angies list. They just completed another job last week. .Due to Covid, some of the plant materials were hard to source and everything is in high demand. Dmitri was responsive and accommodating to the changes that needed to be made in order to get the project done when it worked best for me. The guys are all friendly, helpful and show up on time, (with masks) and are thoroughly professional. They cleaned up everything before leaving and my plants are thriving.I tacked on some shrub trimming and had twig fencing to put up at the last minute and they did a great job on that too. The pricing is fair and the work done is on time. I'll be planning next years project in the fall. I enjoy working with them. It's a worry free experience.Katy D.

I personally wanted to put a sprinkler system and sod down myself, but I couldn't due to the fact I had shoulder surgery and was restricted from doing this myself. So, we hired Bill Whelchel to put in our sod & sprinkler system. I asked Bill if they fertilize the sod when they put it in and he stated "it's like a "placebo" it really doesn't matter", and he assured us that the sod will grow great without fertilizing it. Part of the process in laying sod down is to use a starter fertilizer to encourage growth.I knew he was wrong in not wanting to fertilize but he assured us that the grass will grow without it and look great. Well he was wrong. Our sod was put in late March 2016 & Early April 2016 and was 40% green and 60% dormant, a member from his crew set our watering times for each zone to water.I made my first cut 6 weeks after the sod was in and I cut 1/3 off and then fertilized it.After that initial cut I noticed my grass in areas was starting to die, so I called Bill he came out and said that I wasn't watering adequately and each zones wasn't getting enough water. I told him (Bill) his crew member set the time and I haven't touched it since then. Bill re-set each zone so they grass gets the water needed, and this was done early June 2016. In late June 2016 I called Bill again and he came out and saw that the grass was dying if not already dead. Bill once again said it was being watered inadequately. I told Bill that it was being watered from when he last set the timer to in early June.Bill then said he knew someone at Lawn Doctors & would have them come out and power seed our lawn, but wouldn't be able to do so till late August 2016 or Early September 2016 due to the heat. He did this to honor his warranty and he would pay for it.After he left I raked all the dead grass from my yard, which filled 2-50 gallon trash bags.I kept watering with the times Bill set back in late June 2016.The owner from Lawn Doctors showed up mid-August 2016 and looked at the grass and he asked how long the grass was down and I told him since Early April 2016 ( 4 months). I also told him that no fertilizer was ever put down before or after the sod was applied. He stated that it should've been added. The owner explained the process of power seeding .Before the Lawn Doctor showed up in Late August 2016 to get started on my yard, Bill showed up and once again stated that I was watering inadequately and that's why our grass was dying. I once again told Bill that "he" set the timer in early June 2016 and I never touched it. Needless to say that he wouldn't accept any responsibility and put the blame on the homeowner for "inadequately watering", especially when "he" was the one that set timer to water for each zone. When Bill turned us over to the Lawn Doctors my wife & I said he was dumping his problem on someone else to fix. Even though Bill offered to pay we felt that he was just passing it off to someone else and he could wash his hands of our problem.Later that day I called and left a message to Bill stating that we will pay the Lawn Doctors and that we will revoke his one year warranty and do whatever we need to do to get our lawn looking good ourselves. We spent a lot of money to have the sprinkler system and sod put in and we feel that Bill as an owner decided to take short cuts and not fertilize our grass, especially coming out of winter. Bill stated that for 20 years he's installed sod without fertilizing and my response to that was that he had been doing it wrong for the past 20 years. I also told Bill that I had talked to other lawn professionals and asked if they put down fertilizer when they lay sod and each company said "YES". I also mentioned to Bill to go on to YOU TUBE to see the process in preparing to put sod down.Even though Bill was willing to pay Lawn Doctors for HIS ERROR & POOR JUDGMENT we decided to pay ourselves and cut any ties to Bill Welchel and his company.ARE SOD SEAMS STILL SHOW AFTER 5 MONTHS & THEY SHOULD BE GONE IN 1 MONTH.Sod preparation and installation for Bill Whelchel:1.Measure area for SodMultiply the length times the width. This gives you your total square footage to order. Suggestion: Add 5% to the total for irregular shapes.2.Soil Preparation for Sod a. Clear the site of all rocks, stones or other debris that is larger than 2-3 inches in diameter.b. Rough grade the entire area to eliminate drainage problems by sloping the grade away from building foundations and filling low-lying areas.c. Till the existing soil to a minimum depth of at least 2 inches before adding any topsoil or soil amendments.d. Add topsoil, if necessary, to achieve a total topsoil depth of 4-6 inches.e. Test the soil pH f. APPLY "STARTER FERTILIZER" that is high in phosphate (P, or the middle number on a bag of fertilizer), at a rate recommended for the particular product. Typical starter fertilizer recommendations are (N-P-K) of 10-10-10 or 19-19-19. g. Lightly tamp or roll the topsoi
