This is my spot when ever I go back to ABQ! They gots the vinyl and they're inexpensive! I bought like 4 records to expand my collection! They even have a frequent buyer card! 10 stamps gets you a $10 credit! Records come with a semi-guarantee to play. I really can't take advantage of that since I'm from out of town. They're just moving in, so I couldn't see exactly what all they sell. So for my next trip, I'll make a stop. The location has changed, they're on Central now.

I was in Albuquerque on business and wanted to stop by the used record stores. I hit a few, even the nick knack shop that had a good selection, but over priced IMO. Last stop was "We Buy Music". Nice shop, the fellow who behind the counter was talking to a local. I found a few records, one that didn't have a price. He priced it to sell and I bought that too. Returning soon and will definitely be stopping by again.

How To Buy Records At "We Buy Music"~ OverviewThe venue has a large selection of LPs, mostly in uncategorized boxes marked "New Arrivals". The owner is nice enough, but I don't chat. Other reviewers say he knows things, or use other descriptions. My preference is rare jazz instrumentals or rare Americana on a defunct record label that is not on the internet. I need to research thoroughly before I buy. After several visits I finally bought some rare albums. I was very curious about pricing.~How To Deal With No Price Tags"New Arrivals" are not tagged. It's a tough way to shop. To the store's credit, prices fluctuate and these LPs might stay on the shelves for several years, and it's a one-man operation. Connect to Discogs.com, find your record, and look at the "Median" price, or seller "total" price that includes shipping. Now you're armed with pricing knowledge.~ Procurement Procedure You Should KnowTake the LPs to the desk, then browse some more because it takes several minutes per album to price it. The owner checks the disc, adds sleeves if missing, then goes online (perhaps Discogs or some other database) for pricing info, then places a red price tag on the cover. His rates hover around the median on Discogs, but We Buy Music is not cheap per se. However, you already did your research and you know what is a good price or not. Some LPs are already tagged and returned to the bins unsold. Some of these returns are overpriced.~ Make The AcquisitionYou'll get a store stamp card that accrues $10 credit for every $100 spent. You'll spend a lot on rarities. You might not get a receipt.~ Open Seven Days Morning To DuskThe store is open often with hardly any customers. It's an apparent warehouse as storefront. With the owner's knowledge and large collection, he probably sells online through several portals although the business card has no web address.~ We Buy Music Has The Largest Selection, But No Prices Or SalesThe vendor is tops for selection, but no true bargains. Sometimes Nob Hill Music, Mecca, and Antiques and Things have sales, and albums are tagged. If you're lucky, you might find a rare LP at a flea market or thrift store, but don't count on it.~ I'm Not A Vinyl Collector Or AudiophileMy priority is the music, not the medium. I buy rare LPs, digitize them to wav on good gear, then resell them. If it's on Spotify/Tunepat, I'll download it there and add it to my collection. I'm not an audiophile, I don't sit in front of fabulous speakers and listen to every nuance. MP3 is fine: at home, on the bus, low riding, etc.

Rather eclectic shop, with stuff strewn about seemingly at random. If you're into vinyl, worth hitting, but any other medium, don't bother. This is one that will take some time, so also don't go if you're in a hurry.

This place is super cool. You could literally spend all day checking out old vinyl. There is a TON of vinyl, some really cool stuff I haven't seen in forever. The owner is s very interesting guy to talk to. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this place. I purchased two old Springsteen records that were $10 each. I was pleasantly surprised that the prices were very reasonable. Some of the shops around town are very expensive on used stuff, but not here. I think I found my new hangout!!

okay well, maybe this store is solid gold if you're here for the dollar vinyl selection; maybe i was in the wrong place.. the man at the desk looked extremely peeved as soon as I walked in. i lived in the neighborhood; the sign on the window said "we buy music and books"; the book selection was scarce-- before he said a word, i didn't have much hope the owner or whomever that unpleasant man was would add anything from my collection to the inventory. he responded to questions with monosyllabic grunts. i've made a few dollars in the past unloading used books, but really i just needed them out of my apartment so i could move; as i began unloading the backpack, the man looked at them as if i were trying to barter with used kleenex stopped me mid-process, snorting "No. Need to be in better shape." Fair enough, I don't really care. Some of the books could have been in better condition, no lie, but some stores have a $.25 paperback sale. Whatever. I felt like leaving them on the counter and telling him to set them on fire. You want some Roberto Bolaño, 2666 or Savage Detectives? Philip Roth, Plot Against America (way too relevant these days,) and Against the Day... some random dilapidated Thomas Pynchon shit, check out the free little library @ the Zia Elementary School park. We stuffed a ton of books in there and I'd rather give them away. If you want vinyl, maybe this is a great place or maybe you know a secret password that helps the proprietor to not be so vile maybe buy it from someone nicer, or maybe I am the asshole and this establishment deserves five stars.---I'm not convinced by the latter---

A great little used record shop. Picked up a few records and a cd for very fair prices. James behind the counter was very friendly and will play test anything you're thinking of taking for a spin. Highly recommend this shop. Nothing new but if you're into vinyl you can't go wrong here with the vast selection. Will definitely go back!

So i call 'em up, right? I ask, "Is this the place with yellow stickers on the door that says, We Buy DVDs & VHS?". To which he says no. I ask what street he's near. Guy gives me the stores street NUMBER! So i rephrase, "No, uh..I mean, what side street are you near? And the dickhead hangs up on me! Well screw you too, pal!

Very rude. I tried selling some records and was low-balled. Asked if low offer still stood if I drove around and tries selling my collection as a whole, the offer was turned away. All while mumbling beneath his breath, terrible customer service.

This is an awesome music store. I have been a customer since it opened years ago. This latest version on Central Ave really is the best. They have vinyl, cd's, cassettes, tapes, dvd's and books. What keeps me coming back is the vast variety of music and the prices-which are always great. The owner has a great love and knowledge of music and his shop reflects that. I always find gems here-real unexpected musical discoveries that broaden my love of music at a great price. Highly recommended!
