VDLT ReviewWhere to begin? First, my move-in date was postponed to finish upgrades which they did not do. I moved in with unfinished floors and was told not to put my furniture there until they finished it. (Which they never did) My gate was broken at move-in amongst several minor issues including a door that kept sticking and apparently was so loud the neighbors upstairs put complaints just for me opening the door... If that tells you anything about how thin the walls are. The neighbors (2 single dudes/ I'm a single female with a young child) put in so many complaints that the office could not validate a single one yet attempted to evict me. The office admitted that they were unable to validate the complaints but they were evicting me simply because of the amount of complaints from that neighbor. When I told them this was harassment and that I felt like the neighbors were only doing this after I started dating someone (when it started), they said I was retaliating. I had my boss go in and talk to them to tell them I was working in Taos. The office dismissed the evidence that I wasn't even home and turned around and accused me of my boss living with me simply because he said he had been in my apartment and stayed the night once, 3 months earlier. (They pulled the eviction after I took my concerns up the chain). Ants were literally everywhere falling on me in bed and all over the house. I was charged to spray each month but I never saw anyone. When I inquired about this they said the charge was for maintenance of the grounds even though it clearly said spray. The maintenance only included their grounds for the facilities to make it look nice not the residential areas. I was charged a tremendous amount for water (~$150-200/m). When I asked about this they told me that it was per square foot per person out of the total amount the entire complex is charged, which would mean they profit by charging double for each additional person living there. Water was constantly shut off, often without notice. We'd get passive-aggressive email ALL IN RED CAPS TELLING US WE BETTER NOT DO XYZ OR ESLE. They opted me into a program with PNM to shut off my AC during the day even though I work from home and it was miserable hot. The AC barely worked to and my electric ran over $400 a month during the summer months, which is double what I've paid in similar places. I would ask them to look at the air conditioner and would talk to me as if I was unable to operate it/ only come after weeks of requests. I had one incident where a former guest got upset and tried to come back to the apartment after he left and tried to break in. I called Security. It was ~2 in the morning and very terrifying. Security talked to him and had him leave, but never bothered to check on me or see if I was ok. Then I was given another eviction notice stating that it was my fault that he was trying to break into my apartment! (Also reversed later) I had issues with theft from the broken gate twice, and when I asked about Security, I was told Security was only there to protect the property not to protect the residence. Security was primarily concerned about parking, and giving tickets or boots on cars that lived there. This is under the guise that you have to pay for covered parking but 90% of the parking is covered parking, and they often ticketed or booted you even if you paid. Laundry facilities were broken into by homeless people (since the Security would do nothing), or other neighbors would steal your bras and underwear from washers. The manager (Becky) was extremely passive aggressive and rude and would take what you say and turn it around. I started recording my phone calls just to have reference and avoid gaslighting, and was told I was not allowed to do that. I decided to pay the move out fee because I was in tears nearly every day dealing with all this...My move out was quick and I cleaned well, so I was given a surprised clearance for returning my deposit (which apparently they never do), minus my final utility bill. Then I was charged over $400 for my final month's utilities, separate of gas & electric! When I asked to see the itemized statement, the service company showed me that the final utility charge of $275 for 2 months (rears) and extra fees. When I looked at their itemized statement they charged the 2 months rears in addition to the $275. I inquired that it be reviewed, got 1 email saying they would review it and then multiple emails to pay with no response to numerous inquiries. Now I'm going to collections when they actually owe me ~$30! If I could tell myself to avoid them like the plague I would! I've rented for the last 15 years and have NEVER had issues like this. I took pride in my immaculate renting record, so can honestly say I'm not just a tenant with history like this. I hope this review can help somebody along the way I give them a -10 stars out of five.

I love these apartments! The upgraded apartments are beautiful and the grounds are always well kept! The pool is one of my favorite things during summer. And they have monthly meetings with residence! The office management are some of the most respectful people and caring people I've ever met!!

NO FITNESS CENTER OR POOL. Sad because that's a reason why I moved here. Cheap fixes to all of the repairs. Exactly how you'd imagine a "landlord special". Frequent car break-ins and no increase in security or ways to prevent them. Laundry rooms constantly out of service. Office assistants are great but I think upper management simply doesn't care. Only good thing was the price but not sure if that was even worth it.

PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPLEX. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. It was one issue after another. Look out for hidden fees and charges. - They postponed our move in date which interfered with work and school schedules. They had a month to prepare the apartment for move in but that was not the case here.- Upon move in, there was animal feces, animal hair, human hair, and bugs stuck on the carpet in which was promised to get replaced. DIDN'T HAPPEN.- The vents and ducts were disgusting, blowing out mold and black debris. We could not leave fruits, veggies, bread, or tortillas out because they would mold within a day.- Numerous leaks in the ceilings, floors, bathrooms, walls, you name it! There was water leaking from everywhere and they pretty much would just put Band-Aids on everything. The walls and ceilings had patches everywhere due to these issues in the past. - Always had abrupt water shut-offs that would sometimes last all day and several after. - There were countless maintenance requests, and some would be left incomplete. The flooring from a leak was left unfinished. - The washer and dryer broke down and was never replaced or fixed, which was such an inconvenience to take our laundry elsewhere.- Infested with ants and mold.- The management team is not the most helpful, professional, or polite. They have their days.- The outdoor area is filled with dog poop and stinks. Some dog owners nor the maintenance team picks it up.- Overall, it is a very sketch area. We had a break in attempt, which lead us to call the cops, but didn't show until 2 hours later. - Cars have been broken into twice.- Very little lighting in all parking lots.- Surrounding neighbors were very sketch, always caught them smoking crack and lord knows what they would do to their kids on the other side of the walls. Watch out for the management! They will manipulate you into thinking it's the best place on earth and promise to have your back when in reality, they don't care. Have filed many complaints, yet their response was "you can always end your lease if you're not happy here." We couldn't stand another second and ended up breaking our lease NO CHARGE. Look up your rights people! It was a disaster. These older buildings desperately need renovating. I would not spend a dime here, seek other options for the same price!

Nice apartments, terrible management. I have had one issue after another and have to go in and remind them multiple times before anything will be done about it. My bill for water, sewer, and trash alone has been over $100 every month and nobody can explain to me why or provide me with a detailed receipt. Also, I have now been without hot water for five days. After leaving multiple voicemails and maintenance requests, I went into the office today and they still had no idea. I guess they don't check their messages or care about their residents.
